Too much that "grow your own" sativa from amsterdam..
This is off of Steve Vai's Flex-able Leftovers...and I do believe that is Frank's vocal on this. Tommy Mars also did some vocals for Frank and Steve...so...but yeah...this song is off of a Steve Vai's Flex-able Leftovers.
For those mentally deficient haters of this tune and title, "Frank Zappa on Acid" is just a manner of speaking. NOT the song title. Frank Zappa would FULLY approve of the vid, tune, AND the words chosen HERE to title the VID and tune. He would not give ONE shit about having this vid aired with its correct name HERE. The FACT is that the tune is GREAT and the vid is GREAT, If you disliking IDIOTS can't get past that then go fuck yourself, because you are in GREAT need of a fucking.
Frank had the attitude thats for sure.He will be missed. This song is nasty but it makes some good points.I dont like the anti drug thing but to each his own.
I'm glad I did acid. It helped me realise that we really were all just facets of the one true consciousness and that wasn't just hippy talk. It helps you lay new circuitry in your right brain hemisphere. Just leave it be once you've turned on ...
yeah frank zappa didnt do drugs, neither did steve vai, however, steve vai didnt eat for a period of time for the potenated dreams and then he wrote songs about the dreams he had.
@thatsthewayitgoes09 well frank zappa was actually a avid coffee drinker and cigarette smoker, plus he stayed awake for days working on music, all of that probably had to do with why he died, the human body can only take so much, and this man drank looooaaaaads of coffee. I dont get why this video is called frank zappa on acid because he was very much against the usage of drugs. I think hes kind of a hypocrite to say people on drugs act like assholes and he doesnt like to be around them.
@bubafoo he also used to roll around in mercury when he was a kid and make homemade bombs out of chemicals he found around the house, seriously read his auto biography its pretty clear why he died young. Cigarrettes+assorted chemicals+lack of sleep leads to that. and toneshards, LSD came from the military.
Great song. Zappa and Vai had amazing musical chemistry. I'm trying to find that clay animation video that Zappa did for one of his songs -- can't remember which tune it was though..
@maniacz13 Pretty sure the song you're thinking of is City of Tiny Lights. Not sure if it's on You Tube though. I've looked for it too. Was a brilliant video.
@FZmustacheFZ Yeah, Zappa didn't like drugs. He smoked pot like 10 times before he decided it made him lazy and un-motivated. He just stuck to his coffee, Winston cigarettes, and sometimes beer.
@un4given4 um, no, he didn't. first of all, this isn't zappa, but anyway. thats besides the point. just because your music doesnt sound like pop shit and is actually interesting and requires some thought to understand doesnt mean that the composer decided to do acid. get your facts straight.
@MrsWidlak Before insulting people you should get it straight. Zappa was indeed anti drugs, but he did drank alcohol. There's interviews on youtube with him saying he's drinking whisky in order to improve his voice because he had a cold. Also if you read any of his autobiographs you oughta know Zappa was known for his 'Margerita evenings' on Fridays at Casa del Zappa.
@droboyzexclusive I agree, but I never too the LSD 25 popular back then. I have never hallucinated myself but it effects people in different ways. Still, It became a trend and a visual language. Perception affected by drugs as art. Surreal Psyche-poetic. It's different in words. What then might be your take?
@droboyzexclusive Obviously you are experienced IF you know that it is NOT like this. This is not really all that good to advertise. You are writing, "Mr. DEA man, Pleeez come to my door and bust me because I use LSD...DUH!!!" Think about what you publically post...ESPECIALLY admitting that you have violated the law.

Love him to bits
if this is Steve Vai's homage to Frank, he missed the point... Frank's music was hillarious AND artistic... this song sounds like a slightly evolved Adam Sandler tune
Steve Vai obviously wrote this to sound like a Zappa song, probably as an homage or whatever, but it's most definitely not Frank on lead vocals or lead guitar. Anyone who thinks that this is Frank hasn't listened to much Frank Zappa or has a terrible ear. Steve sounds very much like Frank with some of the vocals, but it's not Frank. Get it?
Children. If you can't tell the difference in Frank Zappa and Steve Vai, you have no business commenting. The only connection FZ has with this piece is that he loaned some audio equipment to Vai to outfit his home studio. Every thing here is Steve Vai.
@nardrebel Yes, indeed. Perhaps a Zappa influence, otherwise, all Vai. If one cannot tell the difference between Vai's and Zappa's guitar - listen to Zappa's catalogue. Their style's are so distinctive any FZ fan can tell them apart, and furthermore, tell that FZ is nowhere on this song or the album it was released on either.
@UrbanGraffito Not to mention the lyrics reference things from the 90s "Fuck yourself with your grunge rock noise" Zappa was working with Ensemble Modern during the grunge period and then died.

@Farksisten I hate it when people don't acknowledge that cigarettes contain nicotine, a psycho-active addictive stimulant drog. And coffee contains caffeine, also a psycho-active, addictive stimulant DRUG. it's alright, just acknowledge it if you're going to go on a tirade about drugs, etc ..
zappa ironicaly coined the phrase "psychedelia" in refernce to music..i doubt he would roll in his grave at the vid title but he was well know for not taking drugs...cigarettes and coffee were food to him and pot made him tired , trying it maybe 10-12 times when he was younger according to his only autobiography "the real frank zappa book"..check it out !!

I dont believe this is Zappa singing.{the voice is a little too high at some points} it is a pretty good imitation by Vie. maybe D.
Z.. in the style of "I Am The Slime".

Frank's only drug was music, and he flavoured it with cigarettes and coffé.

@Farksisten nicotine and caffeine are both drugs

zappa ironicaly coined the phrase "psychedelia" in refernce to music..i doubt he would roll in his grave at the vid title but he was well know for not taking drugs...cigarettes and coffee were food to him and pot made him tired , trying it maybe 10-12 times when he was younger according to his only autobiography "the real frank zappa book"..check it out !!
