The U.S. did not have the largest military, in fact we still don't, check the numbers, Russia and China still have more troops than the U.S.
Haiti - Haiti was a smaller conflict than Darfur, and smaller than the Kuwait invasion. The U.S. should not have done antything, CARICOM/OAS should have handled it.

The U.S. has never had territorial claims in the region, but we did have close ties with some governments until Islamic fundamentalism took off and the U.S. decided that it was not worth our time and effort to prop up the locals.

What army size is concerned, I suppose it is a matter of statistics, but take into account that conscripted standing armies have little more than garrison value and are thus not fit for offensive combat deployment.
Anyways, my point is that you would do wise not to piss people off more than necessary. Youre not gaining friends but enemies, which is rarely a smart move.
Your two most recent wars have proven unsuccessful as well, so before you take on Iran, Russia, China & North Korea; reconsider.

If they are unfit for offensive operations why should we worry about them? As for the U.S. having been "unsuccessful", you may want to consult the Taliban and AlQueda on that matter, since both are in hiding where the U.S. has confronted them.

That is terrible, is too bad that Americans did not do enough to stop this mess.
