@Chillsta2 It's the anime Rurouni Kenshin and this clip was from one of the OVAS,the manga with the same name has adifferent ending and I recommend you to look at both of them
@Nyancat707 his voice actor (Japanese) was a girl, because it was to add more to the point that Kenshin didn't look like a killer and that he had feminine features. And it was for the giggles too.
I never think of this as the end of rurouni kenshin.
Just think of it as a nice doujinshi.
The story of this OVA is not even written by Nobuhiro Watsuki. In fact, Nobuhiro Watsuki himself said that he hate this OVA and state this : "Kenshin has been through so much crap. He deserve a happy ending".
But yeah, I love the wedding and their happy moments scenes

I disagree with you all. Not all stories end like fairy tales where the main character lives happily ever after. The way that Kenshin died shows just how much more of a legend he really is. He did EVERYTHING in his power to his last breath to atone for the sins which he committed and to make Japan a more peaceful place. I believe that Kenshin is by far the most developed character in anime and his legend will live on.

Remember that hiko said if kenshin's faith was to live on in misery and despair due to what he had done as a hitokiri then he would've killed him on the stop and was about to but then we all saw what happened, right?

This OVA was truely amazing!! Although i liket he japanese version better than the english dub.. kaoru voice realy annoyed me in english as alwasy... but overall amazing it actually withdrew emotion from me ... i alsmost cried .. im just so happy that Shinta was and kaoru were able to see each other before the end! :)

Kenshin loved Tomoe, yes. She saved him in a way, yes. But she died. And Kenshin chose to live on after she passed away, looking for a way that he could atone for his sins. He found it in protecting Kaoru, Sanosuke, Yahiko, Megumi and everyone else around him. He vowed to live by the sword to protect everyone that he could. THAT was his salvation - and Kaoru helped him to recognize it. So... give Kaoru SOME credit, would ya? XD
@SonicxAmyfan4Life and it is because of that, my friend, that i don't accept the ending given by the OVA. Kenshin had found his answer to atoning for all the lives he'd taken. So living in misery and leaving kaoru (as in the OVA) just seemed wrong and misguided. Remember that when learning the amakakeru, hiko seijuro said if kenshin's faith was to live the rest of his days in misery for what he had done then he would've killed him then and there.
Technically though, that salvation was laid out in the end of Trust and Betrayal. I think most of the Tomoe vs Kaoru sh*t comes from a personal preference for one or the other. Personally I think love is tested and proven in tragedy. (Similar to friendship) His love with Tomoe was more tragic, therefore IMO had a stronger proven love. Even 10 years after her death, he still remembers his sheath and she and her former love are always with him on his cheek.

@otinat happy ending are for little kids who want a pony for their birthday. I actually see the edning as a good one. Kenshin was torn inside. He killed the woman he loved, with a crossed shape scar in his face as a constant reminder. Death was his only salvation, but he can not let himself die because of Tomoe wish. He found Kaoro, who accepted him, she was the only one who truly understand him. She was the only one who sow through his facade. And at the end of his final hour he found peace.
@BmCNinJa You make it seem like he only cared about Tomoe. He lived for everyone's sake, and not just hers. If you've read the manga, you know that even though he still felt extremely guilty for being a murderer, he did come to terms with himself in order to accept his past and focus on his friends and family. Plus, this OVA is not canon at all. Watsuki wanted a happy ending for Kenshin too and dislikes this ending very much.
@LiebeItai Kenshin only continue living becouse of Tomoe. He may have lived for his victimes family, but his alive because Tomoe ask him to. At that time in Trust and Betrayal when Kenshin was fighting that one guy and accidentally killed Tomoe. He closed his eyes and stroke his sword without consent. It was meant to be his final strike, but Tomoe saved him by getting in between both fighter and stop the others attack which would have killed Him.
man kenshin is so darn emo in the OVAs, as long as he's got something to protect, he should have a tough fighting spirit and be as hard to kill as Goku at least ='p

Kenshin are Kaoru realy bekong together and I like how the relationship slowly comes together over time and blossoms in the end. I think this is a great ending and in my mind the true future for them.

I don't like this Kenshin 'cause it seems that he didn't understand what Hiko tried to teach him. This Kenshin doesn't care about his life (like the Kenshin of the series, when he learned the Amakakeru, he learned that bieng alive was very important)-- He doesn't care about Kaoru's happiness.. mmm ... I don't like this ending at all. The animation may be good, the music may be outstanding, but I still prefer the ending of the MANGA.
The OVAs were originally supposed to be the ANIME. Immediately after Shishio arc comes the Revenge Arc, which was supposed to be at least an entire season which covers the Flashback: Trust and Betrayal and Reflection. While Trust and Betrayal did justice Reflections are a flaming piece of turd compared to the Manga.
Oro? (sorry, couldn't resist). Deleted? I'm glad I watched the director's cut the first time about 4 years ago, then. I remember tearing up when Kenshin started crying... I also remember being annoyed with the different animation here than the series, but now I think this fits the somber, serious mood better. I also remember gritting my teeth about the ending-- it didn't let me rest for weeks! Hm... I should watch this again.

No the OVAs are not based on the manga at all. Although the first ones are not much of a stretch as to what Kenshin's history could have been like, the last series of OVAs are just garbage and, as so many fillers seem to do these days, works to destroy the source material in every way. If you loved this show but everything after Shishio dies is all filler. I think the reason Bleach is still successful is they now clearly warn you when they start fillers, but EVEN Bleach fillers aren't this bad.
@ihateschool778 If you read the manga, while Kenshin is depressed about Kaoru's "Death" he goes back to his hometown to see his family(not knowing who Sanosuke is). He picks a fight with ex-Inshin Shishi and now the police are after him. At the end of the series, he is seen saying good-bye to Everyone as he has decided to travel the world. One year late, they recieve a letter from him saying that he has been to America, France, Germany, ect. and he currently resides in Mongolia.
awww she proposed to him :P this whole scene contradicts the whole ova in a sense that he said would do anything to make her smile, yet the whole OVA was about her devastation and sadness and him being an irresponsible jerk. errr indeed.
@dmarie1184 well yeah, but Watsuki sensei rejected this ending (OVAs are made like doujinshis, they're not cannonised, it's just that the 1st ova was made based on the manga....) a lot of fans sort of rejected this ova as well -____-" (actually, including me lol...) but I actually like the art and the way the story flows. The plot doesn't make any sense to me, though.

Yeah I don't like the Reflection OVA much. It's horrifically depressing. I didn't recover for like 2 days after watching it. I almost wish I hadn't seen it. The characters seem alot different to how they are in the series - specially Kenshin. They draw him so that he loses the life and laugher in his eyes.

There are a lot of things I dislike about this OVA, not including the downer ending that the creator of RuroKen disagreed with, but why are Kaoru's eyes BROWN? They're blue! And not to mention her character has been messed with. Why is she suddenly cooking great? Why did she loose her spine? Manga-Kaoru would've beaten Kenshin over the head if he tried to leave her and Kenji to run off to China to repent for his sins. Anyway, in the manga, he had already made peace with himself and past. Yup.
@Tachikawa92 It's the typical ceremonial wedding in Japan, the bride and groom have to drink sake 3 times to seal their union. So maybe at the end of the ceremony, Kaoru was completly drunk, hahaha.
Watsuki-san is correct about the OVA. It entirely changed their personalities. And it wasn't so much of a happy ending. However, I still liked it and cried.
a live action version is in the works too! Kenshin will be played by Takeru Sato... the movie is to be released next year.
also i've only now found out that Nobuhiro Watsuki didnt have full control over the last OVA and he said "Kenshin went through so much crap and deserved a happy ending." so we definitely need a redo!
@gokuta333 Sorry but no new episodes are coming out... They are just going to remaster the anime and put in HD... that is all... I love how the ova ended.. Most people want happy endings... But in reality happy endings do not often happen... Kouro dies as well.. he past the decease to koura sexually.. even though they dont show kouros death but she becomes sick with the same sickness as kenshinand like misou said their is no cure..At least Kenshin died undefeated..
they did do the remaster for the 15th anniversary but there definitely are new episodes coming... it was announced on the June issue of Shueisha's Jump Square...

It fits in very well and how could one forget about Saito? I've heard from a friend that the manga explains that Saito doesn't want to settle the score with anyone else but the Battousai, so why delete such an important scene?
I own all Kenshin on DVD but the last two OVA was msising something, this at least filled one gap.

the rest is very nice, but doesn't really make sense.
the only time kenshin was happy, was when he died in kaorus arms after his return.

all the funny scenes in the series would not be as funny, if they were made in this style.
besides... this style takes much more effort ... i believe. who would pay for 95 episodes made like that?

Kenshin are Kaoru realy bekong together and I like how the relationship slowly comes together over time and blossoms in the end. I think this is a great ending and in my mind the true future for them.

I don't like this Kenshin 'cause it seems that he didn't understand what Hiko tried to teach him. This Kenshin doesn't care about his life (like the Kenshin of the series, when he learned the Amakakeru, he learned that bieng alive was very important)-- He doesn't care about Kaoru's happiness.. mmm ... I don't like this ending at all. The animation may be good, the music may be outstanding, but I still prefer the ending of the MANGA.

The OVAs were originally supposed to be the ANIME. Immediately after Shishio arc comes the Revenge Arc, which was supposed to be at least an entire season which covers the Flashback: Trust and Betrayal and Reflection. While Trust and Betrayal did justice Reflections are a flaming piece of turd compared to the Manga.

Oro? (sorry, couldn't resist). Deleted? I'm glad I watched the director's cut the first time about 4 years ago, then. I remember tearing up when Kenshin started crying... I also remember being annoyed with the different animation here than the series, but now I think this fits the somber, serious mood better. I also remember gritting my teeth about the ending-- it didn't let me rest for weeks! Hm... I should watch this again.

the other ending was a very unfair thing for Kenshin and Kaoru, they deserve a hapy life like this, i dont know why they kill them in the other ovas, but this deleted scenes for me is the true ending

No the OVAs are not based on the manga at all. Although the first ones are not much of a stretch as to what Kenshin's history could have been like, the last series of OVAs are just garbage and, as so many fillers seem to do these days, works to destroy the source material in every way. If you loved this show but everything after Shishio dies is all filler. I think the reason Bleach is still successful is they now clearly warn you when they start fillers, but EVEN Bleach fillers aren't this bad.

i completely reject the Reflections OVA.
Watsuki's ending at the end of his manga was perfect, and it should stay that way.
Kenshin's story ended a happy one and thats that >.<

@ihateschool778 If you read the manga, while Kenshin is depressed about Kaoru's "Death" he goes back to his hometown to see his family(not knowing who Sanosuke is). He picks a fight with ex-Inshin Shishi and now the police are after him. At the end of the series, he is seen saying good-bye to Everyone as he has decided to travel the world. One year late, they recieve a letter from him saying that he has been to America, France, Germany, ect. and he currently resides in Mongolia.

@dmarie1184 well yeah, but Watsuki sensei rejected this ending (OVAs are made like doujinshis, they're not cannonised, it's just that the 1st ova was made based on the manga....) a lot of fans sort of rejected this ova as well -____-" (actually, including me lol...) but I actually like the art and the way the story flows. The plot doesn't make any sense to me, though.

Kenshin deserved this happiness....I actually cried when I saw this. I like the OVA's, Anime, and the Manga. My favorite series of all anime.
Yea, they need a Remake and a Live Action Movie.

Yeah I don't like the Reflection OVA much. It's horrifically depressing. I didn't recover for like 2 days after watching it. I almost wish I hadn't seen it. The characters seem alot different to how they are in the series - specially Kenshin. They draw him so that he loses the life and laugher in his eyes.

There are a lot of things I dislike about this OVA, not including the downer ending that the creator of RuroKen disagreed with, but why are Kaoru's eyes BROWN? They're blue! And not to mention her character has been messed with. Why is she suddenly cooking great? Why did she loose her spine? Manga-Kaoru would've beaten Kenshin over the head if he tried to leave her and Kenji to run off to China to repent for his sins. Anyway, in the manga, he had already made peace with himself and past. Yup.

@Tachikawa92 It's the typical ceremonial wedding in Japan, the bride and groom have to drink sake 3 times to seal their union. So maybe at the end of the ceremony, Kaoru was completly drunk, hahaha.

Watsuki-san is correct about the OVA. It entirely changed their personalities. And it wasn't so much of a happy ending. However, I still liked it and cried.

also i've only now found out that Nobuhiro Watsuki didnt have full control over the last OVA and he said "Kenshin went through so much crap and deserved a happy ending." so we definitely need a redo!

@gokuta333 Sorry but no new episodes are coming out... They are just going to remaster the anime and put in HD... that is all... I love how the ova ended.. Most people want happy endings... But in reality happy endings do not often happen... Kouro dies as well.. he past the decease to koura sexually.. even though they dont show kouros death but she becomes sick with the same sickness as kenshinand like misou said their is no cure..At least Kenshin died undefeated..

Why was this deleted?
It fits in very well and how could one forget about Saito? I've heard from a friend that the manga explains that Saito doesn't want to settle the score with anyone else but the Battousai, so why delete such an important scene?
I own all Kenshin on DVD but the last two OVA was msising something, this at least filled one gap.

It is better to see kenshin and his band go back to Tokyo, to know he got a son with Kaoru and imagine they lived a peaceful life...
He doesnt even die in a fight in the OVA... Tsuioku is great, Seisou sucks. (to me)
