WONDERFUL!! Great agility and sense of drama. She's a very good actress and I love her timbre. Also love the kiss full on the lips at the end.lol. Nonetheless, it's a very weak trill and I do wish the voice was bigger and the inappropriate pauses for breath fewer. Then again, she is singing in German.

This is great! Hartelius' singing is wonderful, and she does a great job portraying Konstanze's defiance and desperation, without going overboard. I enjoy seeing Klaus Maria Brandauer's Basso, who can't help but admire the spirit shown by his beautiful captive, even as he remains determined to possess her.

I really think she is a good singer, my not like her interpretation of this particular, but I think she deals very well with all demands of a role that is not 150% suited to her, making almost her own, and for me that's a sign of a great singer! brava!

I adore this version of Martern aller Arten, with the added section (1:48 - 2:11). Does anyone know where it originated from? I've only seen Dessay and Damrau perform it (modern sopranos). Anyway, Hartelius is good, but she really needs to learn how to "enjoy" her lines, relishing every word, instead of just getting through them quickly.

To each his own, I guess & maybe a few years back I would have agreed with you ......but I've gotten tired of forceful performances of this aria......I really love Hartelius' emotional but not overdone rendition. It's a gentle voice. Her voice is angelic...... I never tire of listening to her.

Oh, tell me about it! I once said one of her Lucia mad scene recordings sounded "disinterested" and I got a number of thumbs-down and several vehement objections.

Tristiano, I'll agree with you on one note, she's not a lyric. But, the role isn't written for lyric soprano.... It's debatable whether or not it should be sung by a dramatic or lyric coloratura. Frankly, I'm always a fan of a voice that floats over an orchestra as opposed to one that just cuts through it. I'd probably put her in the category or subrette with coloratura extension. Regardless, her rendition is far better than Christine Schäfer's performance at Salzburg (hot mess).

She is quite pretty but the singing is very poor and the role does not suit at the international level. The top is faked and the whole aspect to her vocal/support/breath approach is neither on the body nor a true lyric soprano resonance. Once again looks triumph with a frail oddy produced sound versus true strong accurate singers who give solid performances. Again note the date 2003....many years ago when all this bat squeak sound was very fashionable espcially with lyric sopranos such as this.
