listen, as a marine who has seen action, the songs use is not for a cadence, its a slight play on the end of the movie "from the hall of montezuma" where the unit walks out singing the Marine Corps hymn, however the director is trying to show this is a very different war with different connotations, one of which is showing the age of these marines young, they have just seen chaos and the reality of war, (see Jokes lines) mocking what hes thinking about. bottom line is these marines.

It has no relation to glory glory. There are two possible reasons why they are singing this song. 1 After the shit they've been through what better way to cope with it than by singing a song from the happiest place on earth.2 To be ironic because war is not a happy place.

I've seen saving private ryan, but in my personal opinion only, we were soldiers was by far better than saving privaate ryan.
