Save the word "mishap" for falling, stepping on your dress and tearing it, dress falling off, heels breaking on stage, shoe falling off, flashing unmentionables to the audience and judges, etc. I have seen all of the above live and trust me you're lucky none of that happened to you : )
You could use a different color/ cut dress, something that flows well yet shows off your silhouette more. Work on your smoothing out your walk/ pose elegantly and practice your routine and you'll place better <3
