i one time got blood drawn it hurts less then a shot because... think about it like this its like taking air out of a balloon so more room, but with shots your puting more air into a already full balloon so it hurts. but taking blood hurts less! ^_^

I usually thought the fear of needles hurt more than actually getting it.. for example, i'd always be scared of getting a shot, but then after it i realized it didnt even pinch... But this...... This i felt the pain the wholeeee time, and it hurt for up until today.. about 2-3 days after... OUCH! you have my sympathy

@neversaynever929 I just gotthis done a couple days ago. I get this these done like 3 to 5 times a year. It depends really. Sometimes you just feel your arm going a bit numb, but when it's done, it doesn't hurt a bit. Lmfao; I'm only 13 too(: But yeeah, the answer to your question is no, but if you're scared of blood you will think you are feeling something.

I think each has a different experience but for me I'm not going to lie, it hurt about the same as a shot, only since i had a smaller needle it lasted quite a bit longer.. hurts for a while but once it is out you can apply pressure and that makes the arm feel better. the worst part was feeling sick and like i was going to pass out afterward.. [not everyone has this but i sure did O.O]

Yeah I agree with Italy1999. She repalpated AFTER cleaning the site, didn't anchor the vein before inserting the needle, and placed her hand ABOVE the needle which is a dangerous no-no..in addition to the cotton ball. The cotton fibers can stick to the fibrin plug and pull it out. I have to say, unfortunately this is the 3rd video I've seen where someone has filmed themselves getting blood drawn at a facility and the "professional" has screwed up in several ways. It's scary.

@italy1999 *rolls eyes* she sterilized it with alcohol (that was what she wiped on there earlier) and is wearing gloves. For a standard procedure like this - this is fine.

And usually cotton ball or a little guaze is all thats needed. Have you ever gotten blood drawn?

C'mon! why use cotton balls instead of gauze? cotton fibers get stuck to the blood clot at the puncture site, which makes it uncomfortable to take off because you might pull off the clot with the cotton.

And phlebotomy is just plain awesome! I love drawing blood :D

Really all I can say is that it is all in your head. The fear of needles is instinct, it isn't natural to be completely ok of something going through your skin, so its normal. The only way to get past a fear is when you get blood drawn just realize that it is a few second procedure and really does not hurt. when i got mine drawn for the fire department i didnt feel a thing! It stings a little bit once it comes out nut that goes away in an hour or so! Just remember that its all in your head!
