  • He was/is the man

  • 13 people don't know how many roads a man must walk down

  • johnny and bob--brothers under the skin

  • "I'm not sure if it's weird in a powerful way, or powerful in a weird way" @abargle yes, both. :-)

  • Johnny, did Glenn Beck write this rendition for you?

Can you say, Industrial military complex. When Iran gets a nuke we will be arming the entire Mideast---ending this recession.

  • @arbargle not sure if it Bob Dylan's song, pretty sure it is Sam Cooke's (or even Bobby Womack). Of course Dylan's version is famously remembered.

  • @SnakeFists Bob Dylan wrote it in 1963. Same Cooke just covered it.

  • @Socomarine86 thanks you for that.

  • Echt tolle Version von Johnny!

  • America loves wars..Full stop.....

  • @MrBluey1 Word.

  • @MrBluey1 humans love wars

  • @MrBluey1 u got that dam right

  • The only thing that ruins this video is the comments about god and the bible. Anti war I agree with but anti hate... If god made us with hate, why do Christians deny it? Jehovah witnesses fight for 25 places for heaven using faith. Jews are hated by followers of a messiah but god created fate... God teaches them to hate, god teaches how to fight. God is teaching to hate by using faith. Every war is based on religion and that is why I don't believe. But the messages by johnny cash and bob Dylan

  • @TheAccount0001 Hate is a human response to fear. God didn't put it there. Do you not understand the concept of free will?

  • @MsOccular you are wrong. even people that never have heard of the bible and that dont praise any gods, or that do praise gods fell hate.

  • 12 deafs

  • War isn't bad. But war is often waged wrongly. War should only be fought for freedom, for survival.

  • @KerouacandRimbaud try telling that to the USMC

  • that voice... is...something that leaves me speechless every time

  • Please check out my cover of blowing in the wind :)

  • Wow... Wow... And people laugh at me because I have a low voice

  • @twoethphary Wow, I don't know what that means, but I'm going to use it!

  • He was not a singer or a musician, he was a damn artist!!!

Love you Johnny, may your dream of world-peace come true. RIP

  • Johnny Cash = People's Champ!

  • cash will live on..foreverrr

  • the American people turn there heads and refuse to see...that's the problem.

  • fuck, how can someone dislike this?

  • Sehr beeindruckende Version. Aber auch empfehlenswert: Neil Young mit Crazy Horse. Und natürlich alle Dylan-Versionen...

  • How could anyone but an evil hate monger vote this down?!

  • Democracy is the only system of government that accepts that people have differences. This is why all those who genuinely seek peace must always support democracy, however unsatisfactory it sometimes proves.

  • @morphybum Democracy may be only a few steps removed from anarchy, But at least it's not as loud.

  • I respect this, and I love Johnny his warm low voice!

  • shakespeare= runner up master of english language

    bob dylan= master

  • ps...the pen is mightyer then the sword :p he who picks up the sword dies by the sword

  • in the beginning was the word ;)

  • Yes, war will always continue, no matter what. The only way it will stop is for Christ to return for his church.

  • Dayyum, you lookin fancy

  • war, war never changes.

  • A true anti-war statement from the man in black. Thank you for posting this.

  • humans are the most dangerous animals!!

  • Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash are the only ones who suit this song.

  • @AnniekeM peter paul and mary nailed it

  • @AnniekeM what about Bruce Springsteen

  • What a superb song, I really can not compare it to the Bob Dylan version they both are so different,

  • so powerful

  • what a voice... ♥

  • Amazing version but i personally think Joan Baez's version is the most beautiful.

  • Fntastica voz, profunda, muy varonil, un gran interprete; pena que ya no esta non nosotros.Gracias Johnny por tu arte! por las bellas notas country!

  • johnny cash had so much pressence!

he was a great singer/great speaker/great songwriter(i know this is a cover but when he wrote he was better than dylon)

johnny cash such a big dark charactor yet full of light an realness

  • not sure about the editing of 'how many time must a conon ball... ' also his history is wronge. Spear, Bow & arrow, gun/cannon, bomb.

  • the club riddle... i would never have guessed!!

  • As unfortuante as it is to say this, I don't think war will ever stop. So long as people possess the greed for power, the greed for wealth, and to see their wants inflicted on a global scale, I don't think war will end. People are not born with hate, they are taught it. And so long as their are people teaching hate, hate will continue to thrive amongst us.

  • @DazzerDubai I couldn't agree more. Whatever is wrong with us as a species runs mighty deep. That we have produced human beings of such high quality as Cash is a mitigating factor in our defense, not a framework for it.

  • @abargle

Ain't nothing wrong with our species, its life itself. It's built for destroying and taking and raping and preserving its own skin. Look at wild animals- the only difference is that we have guns and they have their bodies.

  • @abargle we can never stop fighting, we are human beings, we are still animalls, throw to tigers in a cage and they will fight for survival the same for humans. its our nature

  • @abargle The thing that gives me hope is that not all human societies even have a concept of war. We have to believe we can end war, but that means ending the economic system that is driven entirely by greed.

  • @DazzerDubai ignorant...people are born with hate its an emotion just as happiness and sadness are...you can learn to be more or less hateful but we r born with this trait...

and @ARBARGLE...wrong with us as a species? u gotta be kidding...can u name for me any species which doesnt fight? every species known to (and including) man has a natural instinct to fight...peace on earth would be great but it is quite literally impossible...we r born to compete..it is why we as a group are so successful

  • @46goombas You are right that peace on earth would be great, and that it probably won't happen is right. But there will be a time that it will happen, and that's when Jesus Christ returns. :)

  • @artistb15 haha ofc from above he cames and he say no more war ha :D

  • @DazzerDubai we need to live as one, unfortunatley, one of the human traits, if you will, is to "hate". what we need to do is exterminate all kind of extremism and religion, this is hypocrisy, because in order to do this you must perform "hate". but i cant see any other way, than to really make a "war to end all wars" (sry for bad english im from sweden)

  • @DazzerDubai i dont know if its the son, you,or my girlfreind being soo romantic but im crying now

  • @DazzerDubai I think its because there´s a war inside every man.

  • @DazzerDubai as soon as we recognize that life is free to live on our own personal & comun values that we have, and those who struggle for power, lidership & recognition, we leave them alone, soon or later life will be the way it's meant to be, LIFE, not death. As long as we follow the wrong liders, this will not happen, but the day we leave them alone, their time will be over.

  • @DazzerDubai Not to get all religiously but God ends it all later on as he describes it. Blood will be 4ft deep for 200 square miles. It is written in the best selling book ever. Things happening now are all written in it. It's good to know him.

  • @DazzerDubai war is a natural occurance among humans aslong as people exist and need resources there will be war this is a simple fact of life you just have to live with it i know that sounds bad but its the truth

  • @DazzerDubai u know what they say - until the power of love wins over the love of power there shall be no peace

  • @DazzerDubai I am afraid i have to agree :-(

  • @DazzerDubai

As long as capitalism is in existance war will continue. If we end capitalism and bring about a better world based on true democracy than we might have a chance at peace.

  • @bensmith3200 We humans are not made to live under equality or democracy, and i say so as a communist.

  • @ShagohodArkan

Democracy -- through direct worker control of politics, civic life, and industry -- and equality -- as in a society without class divisions -- were the sine qua non of communism as conceived of by Karl Marx.

The word "communism" has been bastardized out of recognition in the 20th Century, but this much is clear to me: any brand of "communism" that doesn't espouse equality and democracy is an imposter masquerading as the real thing.

  • @bensmith3200 Yes good point, people like Stalin, Pol Pot, Mao just made the communism to look bad, people dont even know that they were everything but communists.

  • @ShagohodArkan Right. If we look at things objectively, shouldn't capitalism and democracy also be discredited by men like Hitler and all the dictators created by western capitalist "democracies"?

Obviously they aren't, and just as capitalism has done important and amazing things, so has communism. Look at Cuba - a small third-world country that takes better care of its people than the most powerful nation in the world.

  • @DazzerDubai World peace will only be achieved when power of love comes over the love of power - Jimi Hendrix

  • @DazzerDubai, we are born with hate. It is part and parcel of our nature and when people learn to accept that rather than try to deny it, the world will be a better place and we may have a chance at dealing with the issues. As long as people continue to cling to utopian ideals of the basic goodness of man and the possibility of peace, we will continue to lapse into allowing men like Hitler or Stalin to rise to power and create greater bloodshed.

  • @DazzerDubai So tell me, if hate is only taught where does it come from ?

  • bob dylan wrote this song it is credited to him on the original single of 1963,many many artists re recorded this notibly stevie wonder uk chart posistion 36

  • bob dylan has some brilliant lyrics. it's ashame he's voice was so nippy

  • this is kinda weird... but i love it

  • i thought after he said

"as the mushroom cloud did rise"

he would say that marked mans demise

    idk thats what i thought

  • Elvis is the best singer, Dylan is the best poet and Cash is the best friend.

  • omg such a great voice!

  • Oh Yeah

  • Cash and Dylan are both masters. They are beyond simple genre definition.

  • I KNOW BOTH DYLAN AND CASCH CARRIER AND MUSIC.

THERE ARE NO GENIOUS BETTER THAN ANOTGHER GENIOUS.

DYLAN ALSO SANG CASH'S SONGS, BECAUSE THEY RESPECTED EACH OTHERS. BUT OF THE TWO I PREFER LISTENING MORE JOHNNY CASH BECAUSE HIS VOICE IS SO DEEP AND SMOOTH AND WARM. AND, I AM A STRAIGH GUY. ; )

  • peter paul and mary is by far the best version, dylan had a disgusting voice but not as bad as johnny cash for christs sake. Yet if johnny can make it as a singer more power to him, Dolly partons version is very nice but nothing carries the real spirit of the song like peter paul and mary.

  • @truealchemy wow i'd like to hear your voice so i can put my hurtful words all over it.

  • What is the name of the Poem he says in between?

  • Ah ha!

  • bob dylan and jonny cash r direct decendent of god

  • damn this is the most awesomest thing I've ever seen. Johnny Cash is the shit.

  • Speechless beneath the master of lyrics, human feelings, fantastic songs, prisoner because life got too tough, writer of the true stories of normal peoples lifes. Johnny, thanks for all the songs I enjoyed since ten years of age. When I die eventually, the cantor will play, At my door the leafves are faling, A cold wild wind will come !!!

  • If you believe in God, whatever name He may be given by your priests and your enemies, you know He endowed Man with poetry, physics, literature, mathematics, music, painting and all earthly arts and sciences to create beauty and reach truth and eternity in heaven and in hell.

And if you don’t, you can still name “God” those talents of the gifted ones. And smile and sigh and laugh and cry.

  • There were 9 people who slipped and hit the dislike button.

  • this is just incredible gave me the Willy's

  • this shud be played on every november 11th so future generations are taught to remeber those who gave they live

  • rest in peace johnny cash you have brought so many of us happiness your music has touched the hearts of those millions even those far younger then your intended audience im 16 years old and i love your music with a passion.

  • Wow...i am truly Blown away (if you dont mind the mild pun) that was beautiful in every sense of the word! Johnny Cash is just fucking amazing. He took an already immortal song and gave it an immortal warning...god damn...

  • I love Bob and especially love JR Cash

  • @ViKingz666 Bob? Who's Bob?

  • @quackkedupfunnygirl bob dylan...the writer and original performer of this song

  • I'd recently returned home from Vietnam and I saw this show on tv. Nothing else

had brought out my tears of hurt but Dylan's masterpiece sung and said by the great Johnny Cash. Thank you for posting a long lost memory.

    Vietnam Marine

  • Yes.j. R. Cash was a real person! R.

  • rip jonny cash we love u

  • Your guys are CLOSE.....

Johnny Cash was 'one of us' REAL people could relate to him.

    May he rest in peace.

  • @jwdundon Think that was his gift. Others like Elvis had their gift in singing while others like Dylan had their gift in writing some of the most amazing songs; but Cash had the ability to never forget from where he came and to convey that in his music-even when he covered someone else's work.

  • r.i.p johnny cash!

  • Amen darkmetllicalord666. I totally agree with you and couldn't have said it better myself!

  • Amen! J. R. Cash is the legend!

  • jonny cash is a legend

  • No j. R. Is the genius cause he performs this and every other song far better than anyone else!

  • love johnny, but he looks a bit like david hasselhoff there.

  • aw.

  • I luv this! R. I. P. J. R.

  • quality he was always true to what he beleived in n very in touch with the reall world n issues love this

  • Agree...since I saw mr Cash in Gothenburg Sweden in 1971, he´ll allways be in my mind

  • his voice gives me goosebumps....

  • The more I learn about Johnny Cash, I find that he was a complex man, more so than I'd ever imagine. Yes 1 is going to hate this performance or love it

  • what the hell are you on about? Johnny Cash has an incredible voice, and plays guitar perfectly for the sort of music he plays.

  • everyone only knows 3 chords at some point in their lives. And as for limited range...he has a baritone bass voice and anyone knows that without professional training for years, its hard to extend beyond that.

Theres no claim that he was the best at everything, but he was by no means bad

  • @Skepsis0Metal ugly boring voice

  • @Skepsis0Metal

Right, and it weren't his technical skills that made him the legend he is today. It's the music and the fact that every song of his tells a story of his life. There's so much passion in it. Even though there are many musicians in the world that play the guitar a thousand times better, he managed to fuel the emotions with his own heart and soul.

  • your wrong, dragon... for the songs he does and the way he does them they all seem great..

  • Here in Flanders this is a National Holyday! Make love not WAR! Freedom to all :D

  • I love Johnny's spirit. He was a beautiful soul and an artist. One of the greatest storytellers ever.

  • Powerful cover, and Cash respected the integrity of the original too.

  • Actually it is a holiday, at least here in the U.S.-- we just don't call it Armistice Day anymore. We call it Veterans Day and it is still essentially observed on November 11 unless it falls on a Sunday. In which case, we will observe the Sunday but take leave on Monday.

  • It's hard to belive that people have forgotten Armistice Day! I demand it be a national holiday!

  • rocks without end

  • agreed

  • does anyone know is this is available on cd/dvd ver powerfull poetic song/performance

  • do anyone have the words to this song?

not the words to all of blowing in the wind but the words to the song he sang in this one

ps there is one way to make the earth peaceful and quite and it isnt by god killing all evil ppl

but by all of mankind dying, if all mankind dies then there will be no more wars etc

  • its the sick truth :/ manknd is earthdownfall

  • there will always be conflict, as long as someone has a different opinion.

  • You're wrong!!

  • On occasion I wonder what would happen if every man, woman, and child of every faith and tribe would pray, or meditate for peace. or perhaps compose some art for the athiests...another life time perhaps.

  • Only people can end all war and hatred because inside each of us is were God resides and seeks to heal the world of its evils. The power, in each of us, that God seeks to express, is to live in a state of love. This internal "weapon,"called love, is more powerful than any weapon man has used to harm another. Its power grows as more people begin to use it daily. The more people who conquer harmful emotions, within themselves, and shift to love the sooner the world will know peace.

  • war can only end if everyone thinks alike; shares the same ideals, willing to look past our differences, destroy all greed and hatred, which is impossible. in order to destroy all hatered, you need to destroy all evil. and only God can do this. peace will come on 12/21/12

  • I Hate all that 2012 crap!

If the world end was gong to end in 3 years time where are the signs?

How do those so called "Geniuses" know when the world will end? They don't. No one does. 2012. Maybe. but I doubt it. but yes, war must end someday. But the day isn't nigh sadly.

  • True

  • What a combination!

Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, and a song of peace

  • Johnny loved Dylan, and Dylan must have loved Johnny's version. Johnny Cash was an icon - GREAT ENTERTAINER.

  • Cash got this arrangement from William Shattner. Or could have.

  • real lyrics hit hard !!!! great song

  • I have just put photos of my Grandad who fought in the Great War as it was called on my Computer. This Video I have never ever seen or heard before, although Love Johnie Cash & Song. The answer to when will Wars end, does seem to be blowing in the wind, so it will always be appropriate unfortunately.

  • I was a month old when this aired -- takin' it easy on the other side Johnny?

  • id say that its weird in a powerful way

  • Yes, a great man. I like his special voice, his story of love with June. I love him. A great soul. Thanks Traylorvh for share this video with me.

Thank you both.5*are not enough. God bless you.

  • great man, people can learn so much from somebody with a stature & mindset such as Cash's. Powerful yet open-minded, not many more around. Most with power nowadays abuse it. Long live the legacy of J.R. Cash

  • HE MAN in BLACK.........

  • and now armistice day, is all but forgotton, making it evermore difficult, for world peace to come.

  • club ? ...thought it was a kebab

  • Yep, better days. Better men.

  • great song RIP Jhonny Cash you will be mist ....... may your voice carry on and your songs heard by meny

  • Solomon, King David's son wrote these words in Ecclesiastes.

  • so powerfull, and beutifull

i so wish that man would take heed from words such as this

  • Anyone know the author of the poem he reads after the first verse?

  • damn, I heard johnny sing a lot of powerful lyrics but this shit gives me goosebumps.

    awesome, brilliant and true.

    horrible, frightening but true.

  • he is a genius!!!!! I love him!!!

  • No. Bob Dylan is the genius. The one who wrote this song...He performs it better than anyone.

  • @SmashBrosFan19 I DEFINITELY PREFER STEVIE WONDER'S VERSION!

  • @SmashBrosFan19 let me just say that your right about dylan being a genius but i feel that cash has bob beat on this, thats just my opinion.

  • @SmashBrosFan19 I like a lot the Bob Dylan's songs, but he is not a great singer. There are too much covers of his songs that are better in other voices than in his own voice, Knocking on heaven's door is a great example.

  • @SmashBrosFan19 bob dylan is the genius but he didn't wrote this song

  • @ProGosuImba1337 Uhh, yes he did...You must not know anything about him
