  • Listen to Skindred. They have a Jamaican singer and they are Reggae, metal, punk, and hip hop. I LOVE THEM!

  • everybody knows Skindred, they are not a part of the local scene here, and he is not Jamaican, he's Welsh, he just admires Jamaican music and it influences his music

  • sounds good...also check out Zeroscape "Get up stand up" or "the funeral" for more extreme ragga metal

  • well, they kinda sound like they trying to sound american but, have americans sounding like us so what do u have to say about that. u have white guys as rastas. Talk to dem yute.lol

  • i said the exact same thing about a year ago when this video was posted

  • search for blynd-embraced and abandoned..check them out..!

  • Exit Purgatory sounds like Deftones,

    Gasmoney sounds like Incubus,

Downstairs sounds like Staind,Cold or one of those bands,

    Petrus sounds like 311,

Storm Band reminds me of The Strokes,

Crimson Heart Repl sounds like Fefe Dobson,

Black Zebra for me has their own sound,

and Anthirium sounds like Lamb of God or Cannibal Corpse....and i think they are all cool, but anthirium and petrus is my fav out of this list, didnt know they could pull it off ;) Cheers!

  • black zebra's like a turned-down evanescence..

  • if we combine our Caribbean elements to any music it will be amazing. Yea we're doin rock now but if we try to sound like North American bands we wont make it anywhere...if we sound like Jamaican rock bands (whatever that may mean to you) however it will be phenomenal...just don't forget the roots

  • I heartily agree. Jamaican bands have to think global, you're not competing with bands there, you are facing competition from the ones in the US. Thats how they have to think. They cannot sound exactly like them, otherwise they won't stand out, they'll sound generic. They don't necessarily have to incorporate reggae, but they hae to have an EDGE. And please pay attention to the current music climate- grunge is gone, post-grunge is on its way out (not saying that it's bad)- it's 2008!

  • i dont think of it as competition at all, i guess they play watever they like, everyone thinks, once your jamaican it is suppose to sound like reggae, but some of them like grunge, post grunge, metal and watever, and if you dont like them, there are tons of other bands out there to listen to. the US bands out now are just notall that, and i dont see it getting any better with this rock/pop bull, norway, france and germany have better bands. but hey thats just my opinion

  • i agree, look at Skindred, they are from England and they like the old type of reggae from the 80s & 90s, and all they did was throw in some heavy rock tracks behind it, who are we to tell them to go and sound like their native country music and stop sounding like us?

  • they're from wales, and being from the uk i very much agree.. anyone from anywhere can make and listen to any music they want to, and there will always be more people from all over the world doing the same! Besides, i guess Benji Webbe of Skindred is just combining his jamaican roots with the uk metal/rock scene.

  • iight look at skindred like jordan said. they sounded nice no? they made music for their market but they didnt sound like everyone else...they had an EDGE. by the way i was just listening to count lasher a mento singer take in his music...wat if it was modernized lol..like mike buble n jazz? i dont think it matches anthiriums sound but wat u think if a band was to use some elements from mento?

  • lol it would kinda remind me of ska-punk if it were modernized, but i guess it would be cool

  • like 311 but less gay =]

  • Petrus it's a kinda reggae/metal band...not good idea

  • rocky enough

  • indeed

  • Deejay, you need to get yourself a vid cam, if you dont have one, borrow one. Write me and I can give you tips on putting together your own shows ... If you need my help, get all the contact info for these bands...emails and even phone numbers, I will be back in Jamaica soon

  • skindred should make people change their mind about jamaican rock

  • SKindred wasn't from Jamaica, and we have much better bands here anyway.

  • no they're from wales!

  • Ok so this one obviously replaces the other one i did as a test, this one has Band Pictures and Music clips from them, also more bands are featured than before, and its more official like ;)
