burschen und burschINNEN - kauft euch einen dtv-atlas der geschichte! das sollte sämtliche missveständnisse beseitigen. hier singen einige wiener burschen ein deutsches volkslied (ja auch ösis pflegen die deutsche sprache - hie und da sicherer, klarer und unaufgeregter als bundesdeutsche) und die machen das verflixt gut. und um mehr gehts hier nicht. es ist einfach ein wunderschönes lied, mit einer wunderschöenen melodie, erstaunlich gut dargeboten. nicht weniger und nicht mehr.

And Austria don´t want a prussian emperor. Thats the fact. 1840, the Austrians stood for a democratic Greater Germany, in Vienna at barricades. The most famous German Democrat was shot by Austrian troops. Robert Blum, google him.

@jaxxx1975 Austria was an own state long before "Germany" as a state even existed. What we today perceive as Germany has long been a loose Federation of states with their own currency, law, legislation. And save for WW2 Austria never was part of the country Germany.

I understand what you mean, but with the same arguments you could also call the Netherlands or Swiss German countries. Or Belgium, which was reigned by the Habsburgs for a long time. Or Mexico, or ...

@Mangalitza72 Thats not truth! Germany is exists since 1871. Before it was, you say it, in a German Confederation. The Capital was Frankfurt, because its in the middle of Prussia and Österreich! In the Holy Roman Empire was the austrians for a long time the leader of HRR. But you think the same relations have germany with Mexico and the swiss? Ok you don´t want to be a part of germany, but germans and austrians are brothers. Whether you want it or not.

@jaxxx1975 all men all over the world are brothers. Some are closer than others. I do not deny my German cultural heritage, but living near Vienna, my culture simply doesn't only consist of my German roots, but also of Bohemian, Hungarian, Jewish, Croatian, Polish, Italian, even French and Spanish ingredients. People from the western parts of Hungary or Slovakia are closer to my way of thinking, my daily problems or my sense of humor than e.g. citizens of Hamburgia or Cologne.

But this tribal thinking is obsolete in our modern Europe anyway. I enjoy a good discussion with people no matter where they are from or where their parents have come from.

@MuenchnerGsindl09 In history, sure. After 40 years dictatorship, GDR not more ok. But Austria, Bavaria and Saxony fight together against prussia. It was the Saxons who suffer the most. For Prussia, cut off the today Sachsen Anhalt of Kingdom Saxony. Thats the point, but bavaria was ever somthing special. Do you want a own country? Only because you are a proud bavarien. Ich bim auch Volksdeutscher, in Elsaß. vileicht zie ich bald nach deutschland. Ich sag nur sei nicht so seperatistisch.

jaxxx1975 is right. Bavaria and Saxony do have a lot in commun. Both fought Prussia - Saxony more than Bavaria - and both became kingdoms through "collaboration" with Napoleon!

Personally I'm from Bavaria (Upper Palatinate) and I studied in Saxony (Leipzig).

Perhaps you should also one day go and vistit the beautiful cities and regions in Saxony. It might help abolishing prejudices!

Diese Aufnahme stammt übrigens aus einer TV-Sendung aus dem Jahre 1993 mit Dieter Thomas Heck. Dieser hatte eine Japanerin eingeladen, die sich als 13jährige anlässlich eines Konzertes in Japan in einen Wiener Sängerknaben "verliebt" hatte. Er war dann natürlich nach Wien zurückgekehrt, hatte auf Post nicht reagiert. Sie hatte später extra Germanistik studiert und wurde nun während der Sendung dem längst erwachsenen "Knaben" vorgestellt. It was a stunning moment !

Truth is, this soundtrack is many years old. It can be found on LPs made in the 1960s. These boys are lip-synching. How funny it is that they are all redheads!

Oh yes! The latest, greatest choir from Vienna was the Marschik choir of 1998, with outstanding soloists, among them Max Emmanuel Cencic.

That is a question for the directors at that time, and since I don't have that job description, I am afraid I cannot answer your good question. I have reason to believe they cannot answer either. So that's the enigma.

Another way you should be able to tell lip synch from the real thing is the level of involvement. Do these boys really look to you like they are singing? Add to that, the recording to which they are lip synching has an echo. If you have ever been in a recording studio, they are always very "dry" or dead acoustically.
