  • I'm looking at building a thinline tele with P-90s from Warmoth parts, and your vid just convinced me to go for it. I bet it's rewarding to play a guitar you had so much involvement in putting together! Nice work dude.

  • Excellent (and fast to see)!

Was the fretwork on this guitar ready to play without additional fret leveling?

I saw in other videos that some additional fret work for Warmoth necks is still necessary.

  • @wnvideo I needed to polish the frets with a very fine sandpaper (I used the fret polishing ones by Dunlop)

nothing else was needed in my case, but maybe I just got lucky

  • What pickup do you have in the bridge?

  • @GuitarzMyThing it's a Dimarzio Virtual Solo DP420

but now they have those Paul Gilbert "Injector" pickups, which should also be worth checking out

  • awesome work, thanks for posting!

  • @qondawacho thanks for watching

  • very nice vid !

  • Hi man! I wrote you a while back about this video, maybe you still remember. as an older, more experienced guitar player, maybe you could listen to some of my songs on my channel and give me a opinion. They´re all instrumentals too ahah! it would be great, thanks man!

  • I thought I was the only one who said douchebaggery.....Damn it.

  • Dude, thats a great guitar!

  • @Satyros2os thanks man

  • @guitarDouchebaggery have you ordered the pick-ups from warmoth?

  • @grigno97 no, I ordered them separately from a online store that had a good deal on Dimarzio single coils

  • Nice work here man! Rock Onward! \\m//

  • Not sure if you already answer this question (I'm just too lazy to read all the comments and I didn't find this on your description) the finish on the body is FireBurst? Congratulations, you build an amazing guitar.

  • @salvadorvt yes, it's a fire burst

  • awesome guitar dude! it's my dream to be able to build my own guitar. great playing too.

1 question i wanted to do an HSS setup with a Warmoth Jag-Stang, would i have to alter the design of the body in any way for that to work? i know I'll have to make a space in the pickguard for the single coil but idk bout the body.

  • @BrazenHarbinger you can select a humbucker routing for the bridge position when you order the body

this can also be done for the pickguard

  • beautiful guitar

  • did anybody tell you ...you sound like arnold (the maid lover)?

  • @besamemucho5 YAWRLL! I'm the real Arnold!!

  • @FinnishZombieSlayer Ibanez RG550XX-DY (desert yellow, it's one of those 20th anniversary reissues)

  • @FinnishZombieSlayer Ibanez RG550XX-DY (desert yellow, it's the 20th anniversary RG550 reissue from 2007)

  • Nice vid...you are brave I would've been too scared to drill into that beautiful finish myself!

  • @verber001 thanks

yes, me slipping with the drill would have sucked

  • Awesome! Great video!

  • another pickup test, play an ipod at high volume and hold an earbud right on the polepiece.

  • Your guitar turned out really well. Congratulations!

    Big Ron

  • did you compose the music for this video? if so, it's totally amazing.

  • @evanisgay11 I composed everything except that acoustic guitar + leads on electric guitar song that is played during the drilling part of the video, that one is by Ennio Morricone, but the rest is written by me

  • @guitarDouchebaggery Thanks (:

  • @guitarDouchebaggery Hallo

    lg

  • @montify die Qualität ist top finde ich. Angeblich hatte der Fender Custom Shop früher Warmoth Teile verwendet

  • Comment removed

  • THE ULTIMATE STRAT!

  • are you austrian????

  • @fuefedahoidda ja, aus "Wean" (Wien)

  • @guitarDouchebaggery was scho wos wean is :)

    geile gita by the way

  • Even Rocky had a montage.

  • @someguyoketcetc lol, thanks

  • Is that a normal warmoth strat body? it looks like Stevie rav vaughan's hamiltone guitar body.

  • @milodaman2 yes, it's a standard one with forearm and tummy cut

  • love those strings

  • Would you recommend that dimarzio virtual solo for the bridge? I want to custom my strat. I like to play hard rock, a little metal, and a lot of UFO. Please let me know,

  • @MitchRulzWorld I like it, however, if I'd have to chose some pickups now, I'd go for some Dimarzio Injectors (Paul Gilbert's signature pickups, he also plays hard rock a little metal and has played UFO covers, so they'd be a perfect fit)

  • @guitarDouchebaggery Dude, thank you so much for the reply. It's funny, I was looking into the injector. I think I'll get it now. Also, I'd like to keep that nice strat sound when I combine the neck and middle pu's, like for the song little wing or lenny. Do you think the dimarzio area 67 would work for that? Thanks man.

  • @MitchRulzWorld yes, they're supposed to lean towards that kind of sound minus the hum

  • @guitarDouchebaggery Thanks man, you've been a huge help.

  • What size drill bit did you use for the pick guard screws?

  • @lmfaohoah I don't remember exactly, but just take a drill that is clearly smaller than the screws

smaller or a bout the side of the "core" of the screw (not the thread of the screw)

  • warmouth parts? dude i envy your wallet

  • @adinrulez12345 or not, the wallet would be empty ;)

  • Is it important to drill holes before you put in the tunerheads

  • @BrickMovieProduction yes, it's for the little screws that hold the tuners in place

  • Good job, dude. I think you achieved your goal of making it look pretty easy. And

your playing was shredderific. Nice sweep picking -- and nice non-sweep picking, too.

  • @grb321 thanks a lot man

  • did you installed the tremolo or does it come installed

  • @dodorinel360 you can order it with the option that the tremolo studs are already installed

  • How are the Gotoh machine heads? Do they stay in tune well ?

  • Gotoh machine heads are quality parts and they will stay in tune well.

  • @joydivisionrule yes, I'm quite happy with the Gotoh. Gotoh and Schaller are probably the best brands out there

  • 13 o'clock? best time of the day :D

  • i can't find the song that starts with an acoustic in 3:56 D: I'm so frustrated

  • @harimarockfan95 well, it's something that I've recorded some years ago, I used to have it on my myspace... anyways, I'll send you a PM

  • I really enjoyed the video, really makes me want to save up so I can start putting away fro building my Warmoth dream bass!

  • @AmishParadice thanks

yes, their basses are also great

  • dude what's the song after you started smashing that awesome guitar? thanks a lot by the way

  • @harimarockfan95 I think you mean my cover of "For a fistful of dollars", it's originally by Ennio Morricone

  • @guitarDouchebaggery oh thanks dude, by the way you played awesome that song. keep rockin' that way ;D

  • If you have locking tuners; you don't need string trees!

  • @doctorgone string trees are to get a sharper string angle at the nut (since the strat headstock isn't angled).

There are certain locking tuners available that get shorter towards the high E, with those you wouldn't "need" string trees.

  • Not the best wiring job I've ever seen. Next to no shielding, if you didn't have single coil humbuckers in there it would buzz like all hell.

  • @doctorgone well, the wiring needed to work and not to look good ;)

there is shielding though. I put in some copper shielding foil, I just didn't film that part

  • @guitarDouchebaggery You powned him btw the part at 7:45 when you also use the trem. it sounds so cool!

  • METALOCALYPSE! :D

  • Great job! I think I might mod my strat and paint it like that. The playing was ok but you should really use a thin gauge pick

  • @randomguitarstuff56 thanks

regarding picks: I'm actually playing .73 Dunlop nylons now, much better on the low strings...

  • hey, wonderful video!

  • What are you doing at 4:45? Hitting something.

  • @AerialAceProductions at that part I'm hammering in small holes, which should help the drill staying in place later on

  • great video, amazing guitar! I´m thinking about building one myself! Well, I love the idea of that custom switch! (the one that activates the bridge pickup at full volume). Is it very hard to install? What do you have to do? thank you.

  • @tweenboxyeah it's not that complicated to install, but it's complicated to explain it in just text. Just search for "guitar blower switch" in google, or google image (often it's referred as the "suhr blower switch")

  • @guitarDouchebaggery That's amazing! How do the Warmoth parts feel, for example, compared to a real Fender Strat? What kind of price range did you give yourself for the main body and neck (and the whole thing) if it's not too personal!? Are you able to get bodies pre-painted? And finally, did you have to do a lot of neck adjusting, or was it just bolt on and go go go? Thanks a lot, great stuff!

  • @TheCharliePearce I have a MIJ fender tele and both feel great and are really solid guitars. In total the guitar was around 1400EUR (but this is with added 21% import fees, when importing it to europe).

All the parts that I bought are from the "showcase" section of the online shop, so these where all already finished etc.

Neck pocket is great. It worked instantly (but I don't know if it's always trouble free)

  • plz tell me what the custom switches do

  • @heyfuckyou1997 one is a killswitch (it mutes the guitar, so you can make a stuttering effect when pressing it fast), the other one activates the bridge pickup at full tone and volume (so on a overdriven one channel amp you can have a clean sound, e.g. neck pickup + low volume and then quickly switch between full on bridge and the clean setting)

there is also a push pull tone knob that activates bridge and neck like on a tele (middle position)

  • this is hard to do

  • Gorgeous guitar. Wut were those two smaller switches for ?

  • @HavocBillz one is a killswitch (it mutes the guitar, so you can make a stuttering effect when pressing it fast), the other one activates the bridge pickup at full tone and volume (so on a overdriven one channel amp you can have a clean sound, e.g. neck pickup + low volume and then quickly switch between full on bridge and the clean setting)

  • Great vid. I'll be building a Telecaster using a Warmoth body. I aquired a tele neck some time ago and it's time to put it back to work! I like the fact that almost any configuration you can dream of is available through Warmoth.

  • @hawkdog110 absolutely

also, nothing is cooler than a customized/unique guitar

  • Hey nice vid man, and some killer guitar skills to boot! Just wondering do you have to have the warmoth logo thing on the headstock? I'm hopefully buying a fretless bass neck very soon ^^

  • @Samickboom yes, I have a logo on it (the gold one, which can be ordered extra). When you order a neck you get a sticker with the black logo with it, you can decide if you put the logo on it or not

  • this is great !

  • i was just wondering, do you get the pickups you choose the routing for or do they just do the routing hole? like if you would have to buy the pickups afterhand would suck haha.

  • @bonzzo15 you can choose which pickup routings you want, single coil, humbucker etc.

they have a routing option for all kinds of pickup types

  • @guitarDouchebaggery yeah i meant do you get the pickups to? or do you have to buy them seperetly?

  • @bonzzo15 you buy everything separately, it's not a set of parts

but regarding the pickups: all those dimarzio, SD etc. will all fit, they all have a standard size

  • @guitarDouchebaggery well, how much did you spend on this? tell in german money, i can convert a more exact amount then haha:D thx alot anyways!

  • @bonzzo15 it was around 1400EUR, but you can save money by e.g. getting a less hard to find bridge etc.

when you're ordering, keep in mind that the customs will add around 20% import tax to the total price

  • @guitarDouchebaggery holy mother of asshole, haha im thinkin i might get away with tops about 400-600 euro, hahahaha no way jose that im buying from them until im famous or something, wich means i'll never buy from there :( i really wanted a explorer bass with a musicman pickup haha

  • @bonzzo15 lol, well it's not cheapo stuff, of course it's more expensive than buying a stock one

getting to select every part to your liking costs extra

but it's still cheaper than getting a fender custom shop guitar

  • @guitarDouchebaggery indeed, i think i'll just stick to my shitty old greg bennett and my beautiful german Warwick double buck:D

  • @bonzzo15 damn, i thought u got the pickups and the bridge WITH the bassbody, well that sucked ass, i thought i could get away with like 2000 swedish kronor(like 300 dollars) for the body and the pickups..

  • My favorite part is that it's a struggle to get the neck in and out of the joint w/ the body. One of THE most important and most overlooked aspects to good guitar tone is a tight neck joint. Kudos:)

  • 3:57 no clamps at all ??? man that was risky, you know ?

  • @mqmqmwmw true, but it was an easy wood to work with so I dared to drill it just like that ;)

  • I definitely need to do this, every single Warmoth parts guitar has the most amazing sound out of any other kinds of guitars.

  • you basterd thats dope do u work at a guitar factory or what! LOLZ!

  • @AnAR6RRR86 thanks man

unfortunately I don't work at a guitar factory, otherwise I would have even more guitars, probably

  • my freind this video was a pleasure to watch great job with the guitar well done and great guitar skills to

  • @danguitar91 thanks dude

  • english?

  • elixirs strings <3

    Stratocaster...o.O

  • Absolutely awesome Video.

Seems like the guitar becomes more of an extension of a person when you build it yourself.

There is a part of you in it.

    Great playing. Awesome!

  • In terms of quality, how can you compare a guitar like that to the Fender production? Is it as good as a Custom Shop?

  • @DavidFUBB well, I never played a Fender Custom Shop guitar. However, AFAIK back in the day, the Fender Custom Shop used Warmoth parts.

However, an experienced luthier could select pieces of wood which would work together well. When ordering parts that might not be the case.. or at least it wont be the absolute optimum ;)

  • @DavidFUBB Custom shop is a bunch of shit. Fender r a company and all companies have to make money. Custom shop guitars r just another good way of making money. U r best to learn a bit of knowledge of what sounds u like then study up on different types of woods n such. For example i like metal, so i prefer mahogany bodies, maple necks and ebony fingerboards. The mahogany gives a warmer tone and the neck/fingerboard gives it a more cutting sound to get thru all that distortion. Research a little.

  • oh man awesome job. it looks and sound amazing. you have some skills too. i like that riff you played @7:10. question: so warmoth bodies dont come pre-drilled for pickup screws or strap holes? i'm thinking of making a warmoth guitar with all the features of a strat (pickups, volume/tone knobs, selector, trem...etc. but with a tele shape body. another question, what kind of tremolo system is that? and thank you again for posting this.

  • @t0psecretshit thanks

yes, the body comes without any pre-drilled holes for the strap locks and pickguard. But it does come with the neck pocket holes already drilled and the pickup cavities etc.

The necks come with the holes for the neck screws and the selected tuners.

The tremolo is a Gotoh EV510T-FE (there's also a link where you could get those, or at least used to get in the description)

  • Well done.

  • cool video, you should see my guitar, i actually took the single coils apart and totally rebuilt them as stacked humbuckers that fit the original covers, you couldnt even tell they are not singlecoils by looking at the guitar, but they are, LOUD and have perfect tone with no 50hz hum!

beim Zoll muss man ca. 21% dazurechnen (vom Wert, d.h. ohne Transportkosten)

  • thanks for the upload! I'm planning to build a Gecko 6 bass from Warmoth, finances allowing, so this video was sweet. :)

  • Sexy guitar, I really want to build myself a guitar

  • Hahaha Dethklokk Theme at the end.

  • What makes Warmoth so awesome is well...Everything.

Mainly that Steven Von Til(of Neurosis/Harvestman) has his two custom guitars he made out of Warmoth parts.

  • @SpasmOfJoy yes, I also heard that the Fender Custom shop used Warmoth parts once

  • Nice build. I personally never liked pic guards, at my volume levels it acts like a semi hollow body and feeds back something fierce.

  • @evilmurderproduction never had that problem before

maybe I'm playing too quiet gigs lol

  • und das alles vorm pc^^

  • @halloichbinshorst lol, ja, sonst gabs keinen Tisch

  • What does your custom switching do?

  • @OverratedReality various stuff:

the black button is a killswitch

the switch beside the black button bypasses volume, tone and pickup selector and switches to full on bridge pickup (this is useful to change between any volume/pickup setting and full on bridge PU quickly, e.g. clean and distorted on a single channel amp)

push pull tone knob selects bride and neck pickup (like the middle position of a telecaster)

  • Very nice videos! I am considering to build one myself. Did the neck come with the Warmoth decal?

    Thanks for sharing

  • @suaragitar the neck comes with a special kind of sticker, with a black decal on it (I bought a sticker with a gold decal extra)

you can decide if you want to put the decal on or not

  • how much did the whole thing cost?

  • @RedHotBen around 1400EUR, I had to pay import taxes and so on, otherwise it would be around 20% cheaper than that

  • Dethklok? lol

  • Ah dude, you didn't paint it yourself. That's the best part man.

  • @Lighttheskyup well, I did some spray paint jobs before and therefore decided not to do paintjobs myself ;-)

  • Sorry, the tuners, bridge, neck plate, they are included when you got the guitar's wood parts?

  • @96lolstar what I meant was that you need to select everything by yourself, if you need a neck plate, then you buy one from the webstore and so on

when ordering the wood parts, you could ALSO order the tuners, neck plate, pickups, bridge etc.

but you don't have to, you can buy your pickups also from anywhere else

when buying a body & a neck, then you'll only get a body and a neck

  • So do you mean pickups and electronic parts is not included?

  • So do you mean pickups is not included and electronic parts?

  • how long did you wait for the parts?

    Are pickups included?

  • @96lolstar I bought mine from the "product showcase" part of the shop, so neck and body where already made when I ordered, so I don't know how long it usually takes

Warmoth sells individual parts and not sets, so you can get pickups or order them from anywhere else

  • @guitarDouchebaggery

  • what finish is that?

  • @marineman825 at Warmoth they call it a "fire burst"

  • Hey nice build, where did you buy the pickguard?

  • @XAlphaZEROX at the Warmoth webstore, they make all kinds of pickguards

  • awesome guitar! love the finish

cool video and you are an awesome guitarist

  • I love your ID name :)

  • can i wire the ground right on top of the push and pull pot?

  • @DUDI0215 yes you can

from what I've heard it's recommended to have one pot that has all the grounds wired to it, but I'm not sure if that really makes any actual difference

but try to attach all grounds to the same pot (or almost all of them)

  • @guitarDouchebaggery thanks dude!!

  • IZ NAIZ!!!

  • hows the action? thinkin of buying a warmoth and its the only thing im worried about

  • @nihility666 the action can be setup like on any other guitar

I made the string action on mine a bit higher than standard because of the floating tremolo

but it could be quite low without fret buzz

  • Dude man I got a nephew and he sounds just like you. He lives in Salzburg!

  • @sonicart77 cool, yes Salzburg is really nice and also in Austria, so the accents won't differ that much

  • Man, you have talent, you can make money sellin guitars like that, people like original an unique stuffs and save money. Good luck!

  • @asgarddrambo thanks

would be a nice idea, it would be definitely cheaper than buying from a fender custom shop

  • @guitarDouchebaggery Knowledge is power knowledge is money, I am sure afew people know how to do this, so this is your advantage, ebay can be the door to make a bussines, every thing is possible, and extra money always help.

  • Cool video man...I built a custom guitar myself out of parts from Warmoth as well and I was scared as hell drilling everything like you demonstrated here, but it all worked and it's the sweetest guitar in my collection....your wiring seemed pretty extensive...I loved that portion of my build since I'm an electronics tech anyway. Thanks for sharing.

  • @softail1977 cool, the same here. I was really thinking twice before drilling, thank god nothing went wrong ;-)

  • Absolut Klasse Video!
