i always went to this small island off the coast in that level, so its harder for the ants to get me, then i can just shoot them all down :D

This is indeed an underrated ps2 classic, if they would have improved the controls a little and a few other flaws it would have been great

Someone on Eurogamer said that the PAL version of this stinks and seems to imply that the Japanese NTSC version of this is better is there any truth in that? I'd like to know because I've been looking for this and I'd like to get the best version so please could someone answer me?

It's really not a prequel, the video owner got that wrong.

Right word to use is predecessor, since it was made before EDF2017. Monster Attack (EU title) was the first in the series, Global Defence Force (EU) was the second and EDF2017 the third.

The late release dates in EU and US make things a bit confusing to keep track of though. But Monster Attack was released in Japan 2003, GDF 2005 and EDF 2006.

There's also a turn based strategy spinoff, Global Defence Force: Tactics.
