海軍にもこのような指揮官がいた。宇垣　纏海軍中将は太平洋戦争終戦まで数多の特攻隊を送り出し、終戦の­玉音放送や上官の命令を無視。22名の若者と共に最後の特攻攻撃­をかけ戦死した。「数多の兵を死地に追いやった責任を負う為」と­電文を送り最後を遂げた。「数多くの兵を死地に追いやった責任」­を負うために、終戦になったのにも関わらず無駄に死ななくてもよ­い22名の若者も死地に引き連れて自爆した。責任を負うため命を­捧げるのならば、一人で自決すればよかったのでは？

結果的に日本は負けたのだから、後の祭りですが、私も当時のこの­番組を見て、制作意図通りの感想を持ちました。しかし最近、研究­が進み、様々な異説が出ています。先勝側の隠されたものが、色々­あるようです。当時従軍した元日本軍兵士に聞くと、この番組と違­う事を言う人もいました。辻氏についても最近は、これまでとは違­う評価も出始めています。こいったところも、結局負けた戦で生き­残った人同士の闘争が背景にあるようです。

Offensive hampered from poor supplies and leadership in the most difficult of jungle conditions. Brits were successful in hauling tanks up steep ridges to decimate the last Japanese assault on Imphal. All combatants suffered greatly, especially the Bose -recruited Indian National Army who were caught between the imposed no-surrender Bushido code and the vengeful Gorkha.

I am from Imphal, the reason why the allied won the war in Burma and Manipur was beacuse the Japanese lacked the statistics of the entire territory.

They (Army high command)started the operation without enough air support,food and so on.

As thsi video says "Each soldier has food for only 20days and 240 bullets"

In this operation, most Japanese died because of infectious desease, not battles.

Why should I be upset about the Brits surrender at Singapore? In fact, the whole country surrendered.

Btw,I had (Japanese) relatives who were at Imphal.

If you look 2:53 minutes,you can see Japanese surrendering to British! Not Brits surrendering to

Japanese .The film shows one Brit surrendering,then

cuts to about 8 japanese surrendering (on the left of

the screen,you can see a British soldier)then cuts

back to the single soldier again.Clever propaganda.

In fact,the Japanese often surrendered.

Its a nice place to visit, except there is lots of Union Strikes and Highway blockade, and many terrorist fighting for seperate homeland from Indian government. more over you might need to get seperate permission from Indian Govt. to visit this part of India. There is Japanese War Cemetry,Siroy(White) Lily, Floating Park,Sangai Deer,'Sake' type rice wine,Japanese govt. funded silk farm, people.
