  • You try living near them for months and see if you like the noise and also the infrasound (noise felt not heard) and as for their construction they produce loads of CO2 emissions and of course the tonnes and tonnes of concrete (world's worst pollutant.) People do get sick although not everyone like an epidemic where most do and some do not. ir're Not Green and Europes ill wind are two films people should see before saying turbines are good.

  • There are quite a few wind farms near where I live. I don't live in one by any means, but when I drive through, I've often sat by the side of the road and listened. I like the noise they make!

  • @KellyThundercloud - I like the sound and the look personally. We have 25 of them going up in Tyrone

  • Hey tinker, maybe i know you lol. I work on these one you are video taping and I can bet you didn't have permission to do this lol. But you know they can be a little loud but the semi's that go by on 164 are louder. I don't now if you made this to claim these are loud or to actually show how quiet they can be. I actually hunt 30 yards from one of them and its hard to stay awake because the sounds are so soothing.

  • @dhazer - Hey there, I had permission I was there on a tour with the project manager. I was showing that they are not that loud. I am an advocate for the Turbines. I personally think they are cool :-)

  • LMAO yup they make a little noise..... WHEN YOUR STANDING RIGHT UNDER ONE!!!!! In contrast I hear the freaking freeway over a mile from my house!!!!

  • this noise is really annoying..

  • @LucyXiqiaoLiu - Being right underneath it, and listening to the video I can see how you might think that. The microphone was very poor quality, but being right under it also makes it louder. when listening from the normal 2000 feet setback, not bad at all as long as they are calibrated into the wind.

  • I HATE TURBINES....THE BIG PROBLEM...THEY ARE SHOVED DOWN PEOPLES THROATS WITHOUT PROPER HEALTH STUDIES BEING DONE.......they should be put up in the middle of nowhere but that isnt the case power companies are putting them up beside homes and the truth is PEOPLE ARE GETTING SICK....and if you like the soothing sound of turbines there are plenty of houses for sale located right beside them feel free to go and buy one.....ya thats what I thought sure YOU LIKE THE SOUND OF THEM hahahahahahahahahaa

  • health studies? stop embarrassing yourself

  • @robmccar88 - As stated just my opinion. I have spoken to many who had problems with the noise. PPL are entitled to their opinion.

  • @ryoukiddinme1 - The only way they can be right beside a house, at least in our area, is if the land owner signed a waiver for it to be placed there. In most cases the standard setback for placement of these Turbines is anywhere from 1500 to 2500 + feet depending on the agreements with the hosting municipality.

  • If sited correctly these gentle giants are not that intrusive, in my opinion.

  • I think the noise is soothing

  • @realisticsocialist - Would I want to live right under one? probably not, but if it is placed right I don't think it would be intrusive. That is the problem though with some of these farms. The siting of them, if done right, can make all the difference.

  • It was an invite to see and hear the Turbines up close :)

  • I bet you're tresspassing on private property. You should provide this film to the local authorities and confess your crime. Also, the sound is being amplified by your camara. You need to get a life!

  • @flyinhighjb - It was an invite since I am a Borough Official smarty LOL :-) The life I have is just fine and I don't think I need a new one :)

  • @utinker You're replaying to all these comments a year later? Sad....

  • @flyinhighjb - I only picked your old comment, because I thought you were being funny and you might enjoy the banter back and forth. If you intended it to be serious then I don't think I am the sad one here :-)

  • @utinker You're right, I'm the sad one for spending a few minutes of my life watching this and commenting on it, I totally agree.

  • @flyinhighjb HA! Hate to break it to ya, but so are you!

  • WE NEED MORE WIND POWER!!!! OIL KILLS AND SPILLS!! LET'S NOT RAPE THE EARTH SO WE CAN POWER OUR CARS! LET'S WORK WITH WHAT WE ARE GIVEN!!!! WIND POWER ROCKS!!!

  • Must be a rather windy day. I have a turbine almost directly in front of my office window, and whenever it makes such noises it has 5 bft. The wind itself makes pretty noise then!

BTW: Biggest on shore turbine ENERCON E-126 (7MW!!!) makes even less noise, because it turns much slower. Otherwise the blade tips would also reach sonic speed soon ;-)

  • That looks like it's nearing operational limits before it turns itself out of the wind.

  • Just noticed this. That is a REALLY windy day.

  • Yes it was..It had the old blades a spinning.

  • Not noisy. Plus, i think it sounds kinda cool. No one would normally even be located near the thing anyways. :)
