steering only would have broken as the boat landed back in the water after it hit the first wake. ive been ski racing in cairns aus for years. just looked like it landed on the drivers side on re-entry and got a big chine walk up. it does happen, i crashed a haines 16 S O with a 2.5l merc on it. did the same thing. came off a wave n landed sideways. tore the engine off.
