  • Thumbs up if you are here because of John Petrucci!

  • How tall is this guy? His guitar looks tiny compared to his size.

  • @blaakdawg He's not actually that tall. Im a 17 year old 178cm (approx) person and im slightly taller cause i had a chat with him backstage after seeing deep purple in may last year. (I was 16 and probs 176cm back then). Theres a video of me and him having a chat for proof! (not on youtube)

  • @MrSteveMorse Probably just the (music man?) guitar being small then, thanks.

  • aw gimmie that ol' ball splitter

  • watch his left arm muscles at 2:50

  • Nice Nice !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thanks Steve just what I needed Mel Gray

  • Thanks Steve just what I needed Mel Gray

  • I will never be able to look at this video the same way again thanks to these comments...

  • whats the name of the song that comes in around 2:00?

  • 9 people clearly don't have Morse's Dexterity and accuracy so they missed the like button by mistake

  • Great player

  • its not a camel toe, its a moose knuckle for guys u f*ckn ass! lol

  • @mdvo5 LOOOOOL OMG !!!!! xDxDxDxD

  • long live the 80s camel toe. You have to be a really bad ass player to be comfortable in pants that tight :). Yngwee and Steve, we dont understand you but we respect you!!!

  • you know its not often to see a man with a camel toe, but this is one of those instances. i wonder how he feels to be one of the few men to sport the ol' camel toe.

  • legend

  • looks to me when he's talking in the beginning, the exposure on the camera is changing the colors of the shot

  • @jewelfewel

Yes... problem with the white balance... but so what!?

  • he´s great

especially when he joined DP (purpendicular)

  • gandolf

  • Great lesson !!! Steve is one of the kings in my book !!

  • the tunned is the classical¿ or its diferent

  • Thank you for the great lesson of Morse, he is the one and only unique Steve Morse, Super Guitarist....

  • Shit, thats alot of bite from a neck pick-up :O

    Awesome playing ofc.

  • awesome guitarist...but even better camel toe....:-)

  • looks like he has a daaaamn big pussy^^

  • great!

  • he's a great guitar player and it's a good instruction video..

is it just me or doesn't he look a bit like a young zakk wylde?

  • @joelsilfver Just you, you fucking hammerhead.

  • @Dephfektive relax man,, nothing to get upset about,,

  • saw him play bout a week ago, amazing!

  • great lesson, great player and easily likeable person....and of course the beauty of his soul comes out in his music...

  • That Ball Splitter look's like it hurt's!!

  • It looks SO easy...but in reality, so hard to play. He's one of the great! :-)

  • what the heck was that pickup on the bridge!? what's the difference when there are three of them?

  • its the middle pickup, its just closer to the bridge because the position of a pickup affects its sound.

its a single coil with low output, allowing Steve to switch to an almost clean sound just by selecting it.

  • really? then it must have been a custom made guitar. do they mass produce this model?

  • yes, its called "Steve Morse Y2D" by MusicMan.

  • thanks for the tip, man.

  • these guitar are not mass produced, this model is a stock, there are two models, "SMY2D" & "Original".

you can also find videos of steve's clinic explaining about the pickup configuration/why there set, visit "LarryDimarzio" channel

  • so they must be made to order?

what's the difference between original model and the smy2d?

  • the original model has the slanted pickup in the middle(HSSH) for more sounds "11 pickup combination's", the SMY2d has (HSH) and seems to be a bit brighter then the original because of its maple top.

i wouldn't say there mass produced because people do have to wait sometimes after they make a purchase from guitar centers website to receive it if its not in stock.

also the Y2d has a five way switch, the original has 2 chrome toggles and a 3 way switch.

  • Beauty guitar, but i prefer the John Petrucci signature

  • Anyone kwows which DVD this video comes from?

  • guitar world magazine

  • One of my favourite lesson, I've done the tablatures if somebody is interested.

    (sorry for my bad english...)

J'adore ces phrasés, je les ai retranscris si ça intéresses quelqu'un...

  • i learned how to do that

  • three humbuckers!!!Kick ass!!!

  • love that guitar!

  • y la tablatura???

  • Thats some thight playing

  • what song is at 2:02

  • the chord progression is part of "bring it to me", which is on "major impacts"; the song is written in the style of Leslie West/Mountain.

  • I met him in baalbeck castle...he was so great....and he give me two picks ...I love steve morse....

  • TOTAL EARGASM!

  • Great Steve!!

  • Here's another tip for you aspiring guitarists: practice, pracitce, pracice, and then sell your guitar on ebay, because you'll never be the guitarist that Steve Morse is. The odds are way against you.

  • I saw Steven Morse jammin' exactly this guitar last friday at Deep Purple live in Wiesen/Austria.

    He is GREAT!!!

  • he has great phrasing

  • Uwielbiam tego gościa :)

  • What a great picker... OK, I got to go practice, ha ha ha

  • god i love rock/blues

  • mto bom veio!!

  • Una bestia!! Aguante Steve Morse!! \m/

  • That's simply awesome !! He's is really inspired in his solos and that makes him be a great guitarist !!

Love watching him playing too =) ! But I find strange the way how he holds his pick ^^ ...

  • Steve is a genius

  • Every time I see lessons like this, and I've been hacking around on the guitar for 30 years, I want to take my freaking guitar out and smash it cause I can't even follow what he's trying to teach. Morse is a great player. Not as exciting to watch as Blackmore, but still a master musician. I've always loved to watch him play.

  • intensity or density or complexity. heh. hes great improvising on guitar but i think maybe he should start scripting the speaking parts of the videos haha.

  • As progressive as Steve is, you can always hear the love of old-school Hendrix and Blackmore in his playing.

  • hey steve

    you're my fucking great teacher

    :D :D :D

  • thats one massive ball splitter he's sportin there...

  • LOL jesus christ ... I laughed for about 43 seconds after reading that

  • i wonder whether that's why he's so good. it must be the ball splitter

  • That would explain the fad of tight pants in 80s rock. ;D

  • whats a ball splitter?

  • HHAHAHAHHA!

  • somewhere in the beginning of figure 2

  • ROFL!!!!

  • hahahahaha you have me in tears ahahaha!!! its hard to watch this video now. camel toe is distracting hahaha.

  • ROFL!!! HOLY SHIT!!

  • @Ashkeeper hahahahahahahahahahah

  • @Ashkeeper LOL

  • @Ashkeeper it's male cameltosis and it's not funny, sir. cameltosis affect 9 out of 10 rock stars that cum from the 80's.

  • @BigAl21472 why??

  • @Ashkeeper - Funny as hell - but ruined it for me :-D

  • Hi :D

  • one of the best!!! nice lesson...love it
