@blaakdawg He's not actually that tall. Im a 17 year old 178cm (approx) person and im slightly taller cause i had a chat with him backstage after seeing deep purple in may last year. (I was 16 and probs 176cm back then). Theres a video of me and him having a chat for proof! (not on youtube)
long live the 80s camel toe. You have to be a really bad ass player to be comfortable in pants that tight :). Yngwee and Steve, we dont understand you but we respect you!!!
you know its not often to see a man with a camel toe, but this is one of those instances. i wonder how he feels to be one of the few men to sport the ol' camel toe.
the original model has the slanted pickup in the middle(HSSH) for more sounds "11 pickup combination's", the SMY2d has (HSH) and seems to be a bit brighter then the original because of its maple top.
i wouldn't say there mass produced because people do have to wait sometimes after they make a purchase from guitar centers website to receive it if its not in stock.
also the Y2d has a five way switch, the original has 2 chrome toggles and a 3 way switch.
Here's another tip for you aspiring guitarists: practice, pracitce, pracice, and then sell your guitar on ebay, because you'll never be the guitarist that Steve Morse is. The odds are way against you.
Every time I see lessons like this, and I've been hacking around on the guitar for 30 years, I want to take my freaking guitar out and smash it cause I can't even follow what he's trying to teach. Morse is a great player. Not as exciting to watch as Blackmore, but still a master musician. I've always loved to watch him play.
intensity or density or complexity. heh. hes great improvising on guitar but i think maybe he should start scripting the speaking parts of the videos haha.
7 months later I come back to watch him play and STILL I cannot not look away at the trainwreck of the ball splitter hahhahaha!!! I just about lost it at the splitter in slow motion at 2:19 hahhaa. You totally ruined this clip for me!
Thumbs up if you are here because of John Petrucci!

How tall is this guy? His guitar looks tiny compared to his size.

what the heck was that pickup on the bridge!? what's the difference when there are three of them?
evlblue 2 years ago
its the middle pickup, its just closer to the bridge because the position of a pickup affects its sound.
its a single coil with low output, allowing Steve to switch to an almost clean sound just by selecting it.
Lordmore88 2 years ago
really? then it must have been a custom made guitar. do they mass produce this model?
evlblue 2 years ago
yes, its called "Steve Morse Y2D" by MusicMan.
Lordmore88 2 years ago
thanks for the tip, man.
evlblue 2 years ago
these guitar are not mass produced, this model is a stock, there are two models, "SMY2D" & "Original".
you can also find videos of steve's clinic explaining about the pickup configuration/why there set, visit "LarryDimarzio" channel
ErnieBallPlayer23 2 years ago
so they must be made to order?
what's the difference between original model and the smy2d?
evlblue 2 years ago
