Film Critic? Really? lol. You are funny. Very funny. I consider myself a movie buff and yes I have seen the original Wizard of Oz. Only thing worth mentioning about that piece of crap was that it was in color. Really? I don't give a shit about Judy Garland and you should kick yourself if you are just realizing that this 'new' generation won't even know she existed.
Eh yeah, being a 15-year old I can say I'm part of this "new" generation and I can also say Judy Garland is my all time favourite actress, and has been for many years. Every single one of my friends know exactly who she is and appreciate her and recognise her as being one of the biggest screen legends ever to have graced this planet. Please don't speak on behalf of this "new" generation. Perhaps, however, you may feel more comfortable speaking on behalf of ignorant pricks everywhere?
I'm not even a professional actor and I'm a hundred percent sure I could report better than this guy. What a spaz. I've heard mostly good things about knowing. And that red backround sucks by the way.

yeah knowing was so-so, the only thing that made it worth watching or that was impressive i guess were the intense disaster scenes, they were so well done that you didnt feel happy after, like you felt the devastation. Sometimes in movies, like in Final Destination 2; the pile-up on the high-way scene, or Day After Tomorrow; the tornadoes in LA scene youre just like yeah! awesome and forget that tons of people were horrible injured and killed, but the disasters in Knowing made you feel it.
i thought "I love you man" was good but i agree it could of been better.i didnt notice the awkwardness of it but what pissed me off was i felt like they kept trying to get like a "catch phrase" or something for peopleto quote.

I thought it was pretty good.

Judy Garland worked for nearly forty-five of her forty-seven years. She made thirty-two feature films, did voice-over work for two more, and appeared in at least a half dozen short subjects. The Wizard OF OZ book was written by L. Frank Baum who had go to and it took him 10 years to get it published he wrote many other oz books and he died of young from tuberculous. The character Dorothy Gale was based on a girl named Dorothy that L.Frank Baum knew that died of cancer. The book was later made into film in 1939 which stared Judy Garland it was also one few movies at that time made in colour.
Let The Right One In also screws up the captions & the dubbing, where they don't always match up. It was a fairly good movie, but not as good as some critics said. The cats attacking the lady was pretty good. It had a few good other scenes as well. But it was also a little slow.
either Yurtle the Turtle or The Stinky Cheese Man.
And to all of those people who are upset Peter didn't recognize Judy Garland's name at first: Does it really matter? Yes, she was a great actress in the Golden Age of Hollywood, but so were actors like Humphrey Bogart and Clark Gable. And we can all be sure Peter has watched Hitchcock and Capra because he has talked about their movies before. So just because he didn't recognize one actress doesn't mean he doesn't watch his fair share of films
I think i just lost all respect for Peter's "movie buff" status. Not only did he know who she was ,but he could not be humble about it and brushed it off.
Any one that considers themself a movie buff, and does not know about the actors from Hollywood's golden age, well....they need to catch up on their movie knowledge BIG TIME.
Unless u call being a movie buff only knowing about movies from 1989.
Wow so there are a lot of D-bags commenting on this giving you shit Pete....It's cool you didn't know who she was, neither did the vast majority, sure the name sounds familiar.....but yeah that is the ONLY role she is known for regardless of what anyone else says....and I concur that the movie idea is dumb....I am a huge movie buff and I wouldn't have remembered her either...maybe because the movie is SO OLD and nobody cares about it, not to mention thousands of other great movies to see
You call yourself a huge movie buff and yet admit you wouldn't remember Judy Garland, think the Wizard of Oz is the only movie she is known for, believe that nobody cares about it, and honestly think the vast majority don't know who she is??? Let me guess, your favorite movie is Transformers and you've never watched Citizen Kane. Yeah, I come across so called "movie buffs" like you all the time on imdb. You need to watch a few thousand more films before you can call yourself a movie buff!!!
Try and understand Tra1, I have no problem with Rallis. I think he's a terrific presenter and he would probably do really well in broadcasting. It's just a little surprising to a lot of actual movie fans (not ppl like lietaertz) that the guy who does movie buzz doesn't know such a legendary actress (even though I thought his delivery of his thoughts on her biopic was funny). Millions of ppl know who Judy Garland is and EVERY movie fan is just expected to know those legendary actors like her.
there are millions of movies with far better actors, most of which are not recognized. Out of the thousands I have seen I am not thinking, 'wow Judy Garland is amazing' the movie nor the actress tends to stick out compared to others. Also whether or not you want to admit it the majority DO NOT know who she is, name another movie an everyday person knows that she is in....don't worry I'll wait....and remember majority is all people on the planet...i know who she is but most dont and you know it
Ever heard of a little movie called Judgment at Nuremberg? Oh and btw 'majority' is not limited to this current teen generation, most people HAVE seen Judgment at Nuremberg and know who Judy Garland is. AFI ranked her as the 8th best actress of all time only coming behind other legendary actresses like Katharine Hepburn, Ingrid Bergman and Marilyn Monroe, FACT. lietaertz, you have no appreciation for film history and you are not a movie buff so stop pretending to be.
ha yeah i was surprised P to the R didn't know who judy garland was? she had a really fucked up life aswell and I'm pretty sure she was an opium addict. For shame Peter, but we still love you!
since AFI said it, it must be true right? haha....and Nureberg really? Important in film history yes, one of the best films of all time, that's just laughable. Wizard of Oz super important in film history but as a best movie all time, no....film has come much further, you practically cant even consider anything before the 80's.....i understand your appreciation for film history....people at large dont know her that is including all generations, majority, thats all over the world
Casablanca (my favorite film), Citizen Kane, On the Waterfront, 7 Samurai, Rashomon, Metropolis, Rear Window, Vertigo, North By Northwest, Psycho, Dr. Strangelove, A Clockwork Orange, 12 Angry Men, To Kill A Mockingbird, The Bridge on the River Kwai, Lawrence of Arabia, The Great Escape, Cool Hand Luke, Dollars Trilogy, Once Upon A Time In The West, Godfather 1 & 2, Apocalypse Now, One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, China Town, Taxi Driver, Jaws, Star Wars... I could do this all day...
i would have to say you can be a movie buff in many respects....i have seen a lot of action movies for example, horrible movies sure, entertaining yes....but that is a genre in which people can know things about, just like the golden age of hollywood....i bet you havent seen every horribly acted movie by sean claude van dam.....i will admit i know more modern film but to each his own...because you dont know actors from the past doesnt make someone a non movie buff, even tho i happen to know some
The fact that you would even make a statement like "you practically cant even consider anything before the 80's" shows that you have no clue what you're talking about when it comes to films. Ever heard of Alfred Hitchcock or Stanley Kubrick? I suggest you start watching better quality films!
okay i will give you a few of those, especially jaws for its' time....clockwork orange and one flew over the cuckoos nest are poor books and even worse movies.....on an overall the things done in film now is beyond comparable to what film used to be, it has grown so much since then and the acting as well...better actors and movies are out there is all i am saying...joaquin phoenix for example, amazing actor nobody recognizes (prolly because of the drugs) but just an example of someone far better
ALL of the films I mentioned are genuinely great movies and furthermore those are just a few great films from before the 80s, there are literally thousands more. BTW A Clockwork Orange is regarded as the best film ever made in many circles and Kubrick the greatest filmmaker that ever lived. IMO Joaquin Phoenix is one of the best actors of his generation, but there are only a few to compare him to e.g. Bale, Norton, etc. There are great actors around now but nowhere near as many as from the 70s.
Just so you know, I'm not some crazy movie buff clinging to older movies just for the sake of it. IMO the best decades for film were the 70s, 80s, & 90s. I do however think that this past decade has gone way down hill and that there are now very few top quality actors below the age of 30. There have been some great movies this decade too, but there has just been so much crap that it overshadows the good stuff. There's too much unrealistic CGI and too many movies made for the casual movie goer!
Ahhhh I definitely agree with you on there being too many poorly made movies today. If you look tho there are many quality actors today in their 30's and 40's. I actually am going to say...i give you props. You know your movies and film history, glad to see someone making intelligent points on youtube for once. Going back to the original point tho, Garland, people should know her, a lot dont tho...sad yes. She is important in movie history but i didnt think it was a big deal Pete didnt know her
Why the fuck are you replying to me you dumb fucking cunt. Listen here astrobitch, this conversation between lietaertz and I finished 2 days ago! If you weren't retarded you could probably read his last comment and realise that he understood my point, hence THE CONVERSATION IS OVER!!! How fucking stupid are you to respond to a conversation after it has finished and say "shut the fuck up dude"? IT'S FINISHED! There is no need to say "shut up" because once again, IT'S OVER! You fucking slow moron.
Um, is it over? I don't think you were clear enough. Just so you know, you might want to hold off on calling people "slow morons" because um, you think "realize" is spelled "realise". I learned the spelling of that word in elementary school. It's also funny to me that there is spell check on here and you still can't get it right.
Well done in making yourself look like a complete fucking brain-dead fuckwit Jake. Firstly, you have responded to a 4 month old discussion which is clearly now over and doesn't concern your dumb ass anyway; and secondly, "realize" is the American variation of the word "realise" and I am not American. Here, in England, we spell it "realise". You sound like you need to go back to elementary school. I hope you enjoyed having your ass handed to you because that's it, I'm done with you. GAME OVER.
Peter Judy Garland is amazing and Wizard of Oz is one best movies ever made. Neverending story is awesome best movies ever made and you have never even seen it. dude don't diss Judy and Neverending story its just not cool. Anyways I think you should go rent Neverending story 1 and 2 and watch them all way through and youl find that both those movies are amazing but whatever do do not watch the third movie because it sucked.
You should calm down about judy garland. Why does it really matter if he doesn't know the name of a star from way back in the way back. He obviously recognized her maybe he just didn't know her name.
green eggs and ham... except if they did make it theyd probably ruin it like they did for the grinch and w/e other dr seuss movie that came out that nobody watched
knowing was fucking retarded, the religious shit pissed me off im agnostic and i just think that, it was pointless and stupid, not to mention they added aliens to it, yeah that movies stupid don't see it, i usually like nicholas cage but his acting was horrible
Hmm... well, there was this book called the Gypsy Princess. It was about a gypsy who became a princess, and then she missed her life as a gypsy so she ran away and became a gypsy again.
I don't remember much of it lol, it's just one of my childhood books that I remember :P
OH GOD PETE DIDNT KNOW WHO JUDY GARLAND IS CALL THE ZOO! LoL...I shweartagadd you people are so anal...it's a slip of the mind dudes...live with it...shes old...she got typecast as dorothy and died of luke skywalker's disease...get over it and Pete....FUCKING SICK SHOW BRO KUDOS! Peace...

Unless u call being a movie buff only knowing about movies from 1989.

lietaertz 2 years ago
Wow so there are a lot of D-bags commenting on this giving you shit Pete....It's cool you didn't know who she was, neither did the vast majority, sure the name sounds familiar.....but yeah that is the ONLY role she is known for regardless of what anyone else says....and I concur that the movie idea is dumb....I am a huge movie buff and I wouldn't have remembered her either...maybe because the movie is SO OLD and nobody cares about it, not to mention thousands of other great movies to see
lietaertz 2 years ago
take your tongue out of his ass for fucks sake!
crickyw 2 years ago

AcidNeo 2 years ago
yo my bad dat was my bro who said that
Tra11193 2 years ago
my sentiments exactly!
crickyw 2 years ago
there are millions of movies with far better actors, most of which are not recognized. Out of the thousands I have seen I am not thinking, 'wow Judy Garland is amazing' the movie nor the actress tends to stick out compared to others. Also whether or not you want to admit it the majority DO NOT know who she is, name another movie an everyday person knows that she is in....don't worry I'll wait....and remember majority is all people on the planet...i know who she is but most dont and you know it
lietaertz 2 years ago
Ever heard of a little movie called Judgment at Nuremberg? Oh and btw 'majority' is not limited to this current teen generation, most people HAVE seen Judgment at Nuremberg and know who Judy Garland is. AFI ranked her as the 8th best actress of all time only coming behind other legendary actresses like Katharine Hepburn, Ingrid Bergman and Marilyn Monroe, FACT. lietaertz, you have no appreciation for film history and you are not a movie buff so stop pretending to be.
AcidNeo 2 years ago
ha yeah i was surprised P to the R didn't know who judy garland was? she had a really fucked up life aswell and I'm pretty sure she was an opium addict. For shame Peter, but we still love you!
ratboy555 2 years ago
since AFI said it, it must be true right? haha....and Nureberg really? Important in film history yes, one of the best films of all time, that's just laughable. Wizard of Oz super important in film history but as a best movie all time, no....film has come much further, you practically cant even consider anything before the 80's.....i understand your appreciation for film history....people at large dont know her that is including all generations, majority, thats all over the world
lietaertz 2 years ago
AcidNeo 2 years ago
i would have to say you can be a movie buff in many respects....i have seen a lot of action movies for example, horrible movies sure, entertaining yes....but that is a genre in which people can know things about, just like the golden age of hollywood....i bet you havent seen every horribly acted movie by sean claude van dam.....i will admit i know more modern film but to each his own...because you dont know actors from the past doesnt make someone a non movie buff, even tho i happen to know some
lietaertz 2 years ago

AcidNeo 2 years ago
The fact that you would even make a statement like "you practically cant even consider anything before the 80's" shows that you have no clue what you're talking about when it comes to films. Ever heard of Alfred Hitchcock or Stanley Kubrick? I suggest you start watching better quality films!
AcidNeo 2 years ago
okay i will give you a few of those, especially jaws for its' time....clockwork orange and one flew over the cuckoos nest are poor books and even worse movies.....on an overall the things done in film now is beyond comparable to what film used to be, it has grown so much since then and the acting as well...better actors and movies are out there is all i am saying...joaquin phoenix for example, amazing actor nobody recognizes (prolly because of the drugs) but just an example of someone far better
lietaertz 2 years ago
ALL of the films I mentioned are genuinely great movies and furthermore those are just a few great films from before the 80s, there are literally thousands more. BTW A Clockwork Orange is regarded as the best film ever made in many circles and Kubrick the greatest filmmaker that ever lived. IMO Joaquin Phoenix is one of the best actors of his generation, but there are only a few to compare him to e.g. Bale, Norton, etc. There are great actors around now but nowhere near as many as from the 70s.
AcidNeo 2 years ago
Just so you know, I'm not some crazy movie buff clinging to older movies just for the sake of it. IMO the best decades for film were the 70s, 80s, & 90s. I do however think that this past decade has gone way down hill and that there are now very few top quality actors below the age of 30. There have been some great movies this decade too, but there has just been so much crap that it overshadows the good stuff. There's too much unrealistic CGI and too many movies made for the casual movie goer!
AcidNeo 2 years ago

AcidNeo 2 years ago

KREEPYKRAWLLY 2 years ago
Um, is it over? I don't think you were clear enough. Just so you know, you might want to hold off on calling people "slow morons" because um, you think "realize" is spelled "realise". I learned the spelling of that word in elementary school. It's also funny to me that there is spell check on here and you still can't get it right.
2302Jake 2 years ago
Well done in making yourself look like a complete fucking brain-dead fuckwit Jake. Firstly, you have responded to a 4 month old discussion which is clearly now over and doesn't concern your dumb ass anyway; and secondly, "realize" is the American variation of the word "realise" and I am not American. Here, in England, we spell it "realise". You sound like you need to go back to elementary school. I hope you enjoyed having your ass handed to you because that's it, I'm done with you. GAME OVER.

Peter I can't believe you didn't know who Judy Garland was.
You know movies have been around a lot longer than the last 20 years or so.
Chances are all the things you know and love have been done before, but better.
Live a little, watch one classic a week, from any 100 greatest films list.
I'll recommend a good starting point, "Touch of Evil," Orson Welle's best film, & possibly the greatest film ever made.
