Gary Davies, i remember abusing him with a few mates at Garibaldi nightclub in Great Yarmouth in 91. something along the lines of "who's the bastard with the big nose" chant lol. think he nearly cried hahaha
I'm impressed. I live in the US so I never got to see this performance originally. I have to say that Rozalla is one of the *very* few late 80s/early 90s dance artists who sound even remotely like the studio recording when singing live. What a great voice!
Fantastic tune! Still love it now. I know Gary Davies says it's live but just look at 0:25-0:28 - either the sound sync' is massively out or she's mouthing something else in the studio compared to what we're hearing on the video.
I think she sang live but for some reason there was a problem so they re-recorded "live" on a sound stage and then overdubbed the sound stage recording onto the broadcast image...
I think this was from Sept 26 1991 the last one before the big revap, it was Gary Davis Last ever TOTP too, his first being in December 1982. Great Clip!
i pretty sure this was september 1991, and may of been the last show to feature the old bbc set before it moved to earl street in the october of 91 but i am not sure?
I seem to recall that best of REM album comprised of their early stuff. They were obviously trying to cash in on the back of the success of the Out Of Time album from that year.
@rooney2cantona I think it says 'Best Of'... I seem to remember it being like a compendium of the highlights of stuff they'd been making for years before finding success with those few hits. Like an 'and here's some we made earlier' for fans who'd just discovered them kinda thing.
@rooney2cantona REM's old record label IRS did release a greatest hits in September '91, probably to capitalise on the success of "Out of Time". Their first album came out in 83 so there was plenty of material there.

Since this was 1991, does anyone notice Gary Davies at the end of the clip saying REM's greatest hits is out Monday??
They only had a few hits up until Summer 91.
