Okay, now the Lobster thing. I think that`s something people need to work on every day, shedding the fear of not fitting in. I know I do, did, and I don`t know tons. The very idea that you should be comfortable in all situations is absurd and leads as you say to sooner avoiding those situations rather than facing them as a new challenge to overcome. Second, why would you insist that somebody trying to help you understand there is nothing to fear from many dogs is not sensitive to your position, or is not making the connection that you don`t go over anymore because they have some irritating dog running around. I forget exactly how you interpreted it, but I`ve been terrified of many things and the best cure has been exposure. Sure you`re not willing at the time perhaps, but sometimes that`s the time when you learn the most because no choice,
Two things that I don`t understand. Why would you announce that you`re African American? By stating your race you ARE perpetuating the idea that it matters. For someone to say it doesn`t matter might be of significance to you, but isn`t part of the remedy for social inequality to stop making it a focus? Wouldn`t it be better to deal with it`s potential shades of discrimination after they`ve been exercised rather than preemptively making it meaningful?
