  • Awesome video! Brunswick looks different now, with double track going all the to Maine Street. Lots of ballast being put down as well, for the Downeaster upgrades.

  • Why does it have Pac-Man on it? Great video!

  • @MultiHornguy Just the Maine Eastern paint shop having some fun. Thanks! Lots more like this on my channel. :)

  • It's a Russell snowplow made in Ridgway, PA. The sides (where the diagonal blades are) swing out 2 feet or so on each side for added drift widening!

Conrail has one on the old Lehigh and Hudson line.

  • Really nice viewing this, and a really great videographer too job, thanks!

    Love the snow plough runs!

    Take care,

    mrbluenun

  • @mrbluenun Thanks! Glad you like it. I froze my donkey off filming this rare event, but it was worth it. It was only around -20*F for a high that day. Buhhurrr!

    All the best,

    Z.

  • @GP9railfan Granted, I was not there; however, at -20f the atmosphere would not produce the stratus formation of the clouds that are prevelent in this video. An air mass that very cold has such low amounts of mositure in it that clouds simply could not form and thus the sun would be shining. It may have seemed very cold, but the evidance concludes that it could not have been -20f at the time of the video taping. I enjoyed it though! Thanks for posting! :)

  • @captainmorgan757 LOL It was. I had about 5 layers on, & still froze my arse off. I don't normally get cold either, but that day I sure did! The wind certainly didn't help things any either I tell ya!

    Thanks for watching this.

  • But I tell ya, the M420W has to be my all time favorite locomotive. The sound amazing and look great, even in beaten and faded Canadian National paint. Though I bet it would look great in full MERR paint. Do you know if it's still on the roster? And thank you for a great video!

  • @CRQ5508 Yeah, they're basically Canadian built Alco's. Maine Eastern is thinking about painting 3573 up like 764. Yes 3573 is very much still on the Maine Eastern roster. They run it at least once a week, or every other week. She puts on quite a smoke show too at full chug. Thanks for watching my video, & glad you like it. I have a couple more videos of 3573 on my channel.

  • COOL IT LOOKS LIKE PAC- MAN

  • @TailsBattle yeah you'r right lmao & CP Rail used to have that design on their equipment

  • man it looks and even sounds cold on this day the sound is very clear you can hear every little noise that locomotive is making! great video rare to catch a plow train on film

  • @rockinrollfan37 Yeah, I missed 764. She came through 5 minutes earlier plowing the ROW, & the plow came down to clean up the big snow drifts in the yard 4:30 into the vid. 764 later lashed up with the plow train, & headed back North to Rockland. 3573 is a well worn ex-CN MLW 420W. They don't use 3573 very much, so this was a rare occasion.

  • wow this looks pretty cool. i like all the snow. bet those guys drink alot of coffee and hot cocoa on that train

  • Thanks. Yeah, no heat in that plow unless they crank up the 'ol stove. Pretty cold ride that day, It was about -20*F that day with a biting wind. My camera battery died in only a matter of minutes of filming this rare event.

  • Excellent footage ! Beautiful winter scenery.

I love snow ! You did a really great job on this video . Enjoyed it :)

  • Thanks. This is an old video. That was a VERY cold day! Brrrhrrr! Haha.

  • Pretty clear exhaust! I saw 3573 many times on the St. Lawrence & Atlantic 10 years ago, and it was the smokiest M420(W) they ran.

  • Yeah it is, but it's pretty smoky when they notch it up every so often, however, I haven't been able to get that on camera yet. Thanks.

  • Well done

  • Thank you. Much appreciated.

  • tis winter and bloody cold

  • Yes, it was -20*F with a 15 MPH wind that day. My hands were frozen at the end of filming this.

    Thanks for the comment.

  • I know this, I waited 30 mins for 7470 to come across my trestle, (I ALSO LOST THAT FOOTAGE, DUE TO MY COMP CRASHING!) Idk if you were out that day, but it was really cold, lol.

  • @bigboy4016 Man, that's too bad. Yes, it was FREEZING cold that day! LOL

  • I have a nice clear shot of the trestle this year, so I will get a better shot, if the weather permits, lol.

  • Excellent. I hope you can get some good videos. Don't forget to use a tripod! Haha.

  • Yah

  • Put a J3 snow plow whistle on the plow <3

  • That's the horn on 3573 that you hear, but yeah, I agree, an air whistle would sound cool on the plow.

  • Very Good i like the snow plow with the M420W of (EX-CN).

  • what a piece of junk lol

  • Yeah M420's aren't exactly my favorite locos, but they sound good anyway.

  • They came down to clear the snowdrifts & packed snow off the sidings down in the yard for Pan Am to come up later in the day for a drop off. They weren't really plowing the mainline, since 764 did that earlier in the previous video. More info on this event in the description. Thanks for watching.

  • cool video I am amazed those teltells about 2:00 in the video at that bridge have survived this long cool shots of the old alco and the snowplow I caught a CP plow train on Roders pass a few years ago these are neat to see in action

  • Thanks. My "B&M 333 having trouble" video has more pictures of the telltales, & the junction, which includes the Wye, & switches as well. Thanks for watching.

  • Once again, nice professional looking video! This one looks great too! I also put this in my faves. 5/5 stars too. Keep up the awesome work!!

  • Thanks! I appreciate that.

  • very good shot..I never seen like this before.

  • Thanks. I'll have some more new footage of this that I captured on Tuesday morning posted soon.

  • old telltales are cool.

  • Yeah, there's a few still around up here. I've got some more footage showing them in the "B&M 333 Broken down" video. Thanks for watching.

  • i like that Maine Eastern GP10.

  • Me too. It's actually still considered a GP9, even with the modification. Thanks for the comment.

  • nice video.i like the packman on the plow.

  • Very good shot of that, I have never seen one of those in person yet. It was good to see it in this video.

  • Thanks. I just put it on the n scale site a couple weeks ago in the "train watching" section.

  • m420s are ugly but nice vid...cool catch

  • Yeah, they're not exactly my favorite either, but it's got a cool paint job at least, & it's an old Alco (sort of). Thanks for the comments!

  • great footage!

i live near the Norfolk Southern yard (EX Conrail yard) here in Grand Rapids MI. they have the exact snow plow, i've yet to see it in use tho.

    peace

    ---jerry

  • Thanks Jerry. That's an all steel Russell snow plow. They made them in a wooden version also, when they started building them during the steam era. It's not every day that you get to see these in operation either.

  • how do you find most of these train and places that they are at

  • wow really great video GREAT JOB KEEP IT UP!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thanks Jess. I'll be posting more videos up here soon.

  • Nice footage. I have the old Walthers Russel plow kit in B&M livery, which I'll actually get built someday. I love the Pac-Man motif on the plow.

  • Cool. What scale? I've got a MEC Russell plow in N scale myself. Yeah, a Pac-Man on a snowplow is something you don't see every day! That's just the Maine Eastern RR sense of humor showing itself. The folks that work there have fun at what they do best, (Showing off). LOL. Again, Thanks for the compliments. Much appreciated.

  • My Russel is HO. I model semi-freelanced transition-era, with the plan being a lot of steam and first-generation diesel, maybe a year or two later than steam actually ran, but still within realms of possibility.

  • Nice. I'd like to see a video of it when you're done building it. I just bought a G scale Russel plow this morning, & I can't wait to get it running, so I can plow some snow with it someday.

  • hey man fantastic sorry i havnt been on in a while i was sick and then away seein fam and then at the train show today soo yeah but awesome vid man!

  • Thanks. I was going to go down there, but I'm going to wait for the big one in Wilmington instead. Thanks again!

  • thats pretty sweet, im still waiting to see a train plow on my tracks

  • Thanks. I'm sure you'll get a chance to see one eventually.

  • Very Unique Crossing Shown here! Never seen anything like it

  • The crossing in the beginning of the video is a rare WRRS mini bell equipped signal crossing without gates. Thanks for watching.

  • Fantastic Video! great Horn and shot

  • Thanks! I figured it was time to make a video of something that doesn't get seen too often.

  • nice video, thank you

    ***** & greetings

    Eduard

  • Hey, Thanks. I knew you'd probably like this alot.

  • Great job , too bad not more snow lol

  • Thanks! The snow was all piled up in the crossings, but 764 pushed most of it out of the way when it came through earlier. The plow was headed to the yard to clear it out for Pan Am to be able to get through. I wish I got more footage of the yard being plowed, but it's always a bit of a challenge to find a good spot for filming down there with 2-3 feet of snow to walk through the whole way. I'm hoping it snows more, so I can get more footage maybe. Thanks for all the comments everyone!

  • Nice Locomotive, and clips 5*

  • Thanks!

  • is that a C.N. engine or Maine Central

  • Ex-Canadian National. #3573 belongs to the Maine Eastern RR now. Thanks for asking.

  • Thats awesome! I wish i could get to see plows here.

  • Thanks. This is a rare occasion, & only happens maybe 2, or 3 times a year usually, so I figured I'd make a video on it. They ran this down through to clear the buildup out of the crossings, & to clean up the sidings at the yard in Brunswick.

  • I wish we got plows up hear in Washington.

  • There should be some plows out there, especially with all the snow you folks get in the mountains there.

  • There are in some areas. Shasta Pass gets a few of them but it takes me about 12 hours to get down there. Donner Pass gets a lot but that's a two day drive. The only one that gets plows that's within 5 hours of me is Cascade Pass but they only get them up there once every now and then.

  • Great video!

  • Thanks!

  • Awesome Video!

  • Thanks! I'm glad you like it.

  • I really like how the picture swings as the train goes under the bridge.....clever. Great video! Lets hope we get that 4 feet of snow to really see it in action.

  • Me too. Thanks Dad. I need a scanner soon though, so I can hear their next move without having to guess what's next. Do you have one laying around somewhere that I could maybe borrow to chase the trains with?

  • I really like the horn. Sounds unique, don't believe I've ever heard it before.

  • The horn seems to be a Nathan M3 of some kind.

  • Not exactly sure either, but it's really loud, & echos across town really well.

  • love the video and sometimes wish it snowed in fl

    5 stars

  • must be quite a ride going through 4 ft of snow at high speed in one of those

  • Oh yeah, I'm sure it is! 4 feet is'nt a whole lot of snow for that plow though. They were built to handle up to around 8 feet of snow at a time. Thanks for the comment!
