One who reads the bible carefully would find that it's not necessarily contradictory to scientific evidence. There is an unspecified amount of time between genesis 1:1 and 2. The animals and humans created were never said to be the first. In fact, in some books, it says that there were animals before the 7 day creation. Plus, the bible condemns incest, so saying Adam and Eve were the first humans is illogical.
@scottieman2 Generally, Creationists believe that God created Earth & put every species on the Earth exactly as they are today, meaning that humans & animals have not changed since God created the world. This belief generally takes Genesis literally (that Adam & Eve were the first humans on Earth & were put there by God, etc.). "Regular" beliefs in God may vary in their philosophy, but many people believe in God but also accept ideas of evolution (don't necessarily believe God created the world)

But I do have problems with religion when I see things like videos of people full of excitement thanking God for the earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan as a sign to the Japanese people to "wake up", and can actually get enjoyment from tens of thousands of people (many of them children) being swept away and drowned. @flametard - Agnostics simply use the term to say they believe there could be a God, but have not seen evidence of any religious text being true (as there is none, or there wouldn't be a debate). Atheists believe there is absolutely no God, intelligent creator, and usually even creative force or dimension, and that everything can be rationally explained within the context of our own universe.

One who reads the bible carefully would find that it's not necessarily contradictory to scientific evidence. There is an unspecified amount of time between genesis 1:1 and 2. The animals and humans created were never said to be the first. In fact, in some books, it says that there were animals before the 7 day creation. Plus, the bible condemns incest, so saying Adam and Eve were the first humans is illogical.

This belief generally takes Genesis literally (that Adam & Eve were the first humans on Earth & were put there by God, etc.). "Regular" beliefs in God may vary in their philosophy, but many people believe in God but also accept ideas of evolution (don't necessarily believe God created the world)

Second, most Christian churches will still claim those stories to be factual, and 200 years ago EVERY Christian church claimed them to be factual. The only problem is that with today's technology we know that it's ridiculous to consider those stories to be historically accurate.

But I do have problems with religion when I see things like videos of people full of excitement thanking God for the earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan as a sign to the Japanese people to "wake up", and can actually get enjoyment from tens of thousands of people (many of them children) being swept away and drowned. @flametard - Agnostics simply use the term to say they believe there could be a God, but have not seen evidence of any religious text being true (as there is none, or there wouldn't be a debate). Atheists believe there is absolutely no God, intelligent creator, and usually even creative force or dimension, and that everything can be rationally explained within the context of our own universe.

One of Einstein's most famous quotes is this "I believe in Spinoza's God who reveals Himself in the orderly harmony of what exists, not in a God who concerns himself with fates and actions of human beings". Einstein looked at the created universe and was humble (a word many FSM proponents may not be familiar with) enough to admit that perhaps there could be a creator God. But for him he thought that this God was far too transcendent to relate or interact with.

you should indulge yourself in some philosophy books bud. Understand why you think that the scientific method is infallible by reading about the Enlightenment. Science is not a completely objective realm(discover what worldviews are). And if God was a substance then science would be able to study God. But if God is transcendent of reality then.... Look I'm not saying this proves God, but it makes God a completely different discussion from the FSM.
