He didn't do Avatar justice like I had hoped. He left out the whole episode w/ King Bumi and the one w/ the Warriors of Kioshi. Saka is a funny character, but in the movie he was a stiff, and he didn't even touch on the "romance" between Ang and Katara. Decent movie, but I think it could have been a lot better.
if i were him i would have made a movie keeping the cartoon look just like the series and would have made this movie book 4 air and finished up the series in one final movie and answer all the questions people had at the end of the series (book 3 fire) exp: what did become of zukos mom after she got banished. cause in the final episode zuko was going to go search for his mom and there were still many towns and villages effected by the war that aang can go and help.

If you want to get into technicalities, Viets and Chinese people are cast to play Japanese people all the time and so on and so forth. These cultures are completely different yet people are not bothered by it. Why cut off a person's chance of acting just bc of their skin?

All you have to do is drop filler, speed a few things up and edit the script a little, not hard. And, after re-watching the first season, it made me wonder why I even kept up with the show in the first place. It's. So. Lame. Honestly, the show doesn't even come close to "good" until the very end of the series, which happens to be 2 seasons later. I should go as far as even say I liked M Night's approach to the story better. So, meh to you.

Saka is a funny character, but in the movie he was a stiff, and he didn't even touch on the "romance" between Ang and Katara. Decent movie, but I think it could have been a lot better.

if i were him i would have made a movie keeping the cartoon look just like the series and would have made this movie book 4 air and finished up the series in one final movie and answer all the questions people had at the end of the series (book 3 fire) exp: what did become of zukos mom after she got banished. cause in the final episode zuko was going to go search for his mom and there were still many towns and villages effected by the war that aang can go and help.

Ok, honestly, I don't understand how the casting reflects racism. Who SAYS that they all have to be asian? I mean, isn't that racist? "You're perfect for this role but the only thing is....your skin isn't the right color." If you want to get into technicalities, Viets and Chinese people are cast to play Japanese people all the time and so on and so forth. These cultures are completely different yet people are not bothered by it. Why cut off a person's chance of acting just bc of their skin?

They pronounced nearly all the names wrong also. I believe the whole cast had extreme potential but it came down to horrible screenwriting, producing, and directing. If they make a second movie... This guy is one of the most terrible director's out there. I would rather have almost anyone else do this movie. He makes a decent movie for about an hour and forty five minutes and then has the dumbest twist ending, which completely contradicts and ruins everything. I'm just hoping he sticks to the story on this one, which he claims to really enjoy. So we'll see what happens.
