kush you oughta be shame o yo self leave that little horn alone! james is tellin richard griffith to not be so mean to that trumpet. kush was his nickname! he blew the valves right off that horn. what a band! now take that and put it in yo pipe and smoke it! aint that funky now!!!!!!!
One of the hardest truest Funk songs ever. Everything is in this one. Its interesting, that say in drumming, people think Funk drumming is all shuffling or all over the place like JB's other big hits. But the drummer is just steady snare nothing else. That almost trance-like playing, that concentration, that steadiness and unwavering dedication to the 1 and 2, 3, 4 over and over again... thats Funk. Pure True Funk if you will.
I must say that James Brown knew how to lay down some of the funkiest songs back in the day!!!!! You couldn't sit down on any of them; you had to get up and dance. His musical legacy will live on for many generations to come. R.I.P. James!!!!!!!!!
One of my favorite JB jams. This 45 version is right in the groove too--they didn't cut it too fast... Best shouts: "Preacher's daughter." And: "HEY. ... HEY YOU. COM'ERE." lol Thanks for posting it!
its sure nuff, funky now s 17th in in philly back in the day.....lol
