Moulin rouge is one of tis centuries greatest musicals and in my opinion it was the start of a new era in bringing new fans to this genre i still prefer sweeny todd but moulin rouge is a great film/musical (tony.webster36@yahoo.com)
@mhn7797 The movie had not ONE single original song, thats why it was crap, but most (including I) enjoyed it because it performed the songs very well. In other words, yeah it was crap, but I liked it. xD
at the oscars, this master piece was completely robbed. Nicole should have won. Ewan should have been nominated and Baz shoulf have won, i mean i am sure a beautiful mind is amazing, but this movie is phenominal.
I love this song, but my favorite part is the end with the entrance of the drumbeat... but then the song cuts off. :( Sadness. Why can't it just keep going for another few minutes? :P
I feel really embarrassed about this but... I only really know about Queen because of this. I knew they existed as my dad has tons of their albums, but I never really bothered listening to them until after I saw Moulin Rouge.
this song always makes me emotional, imaging what Freddie Mercury must have gone through, so much pain. the lyrics I can relate to so much. Seeing it in this film made me feel that so much more. I don't think a song has ever had such a profound effect on me. Someone did a Moulin Rouge video to the Queen version of the song, I just couldn't hold back the tears.
Queen may have written this song, but Moulin Rouge! gave it a completely different sound, so for those of you who are determined to be haters, bite me. Both renditions are amazing and deserving of recognition.
@RainbowSunset2011 Sorry, but this song is off of the album Innuendo (The last album released while Freddie was still alive), the last album Queen did before Made In Heaven, (The album Freddie died during the making of) which is probably the album you are referencing. But yes, this song was written by, and credit is given to, Queen as a band. And if you still don't believe me, you can look it up, or just listen for Roger Taylor's voice in the background and the tone of Brian May's guitar :D
This is the opening to my marching band show, and now every time I come in with that eighth-note line I just hear Zidler and Kidman singing in the background. I hope the judicators don't take points off if the band is crying. =P
i cant stop listening to it D:

Sacrifice. Having to give everything up for the thing that everyone wants. In Satine's case she has to go on with show or the man she loves will die.
She sacrifices everything for the love she has for Christian!
Good answer?
