I think its like a large bowl, and in that large bowl there are different sizes/depths of panels within it that make different sounds. Along with the weed hallucinations, jamaicans know exactly which panels to hit, cos they light up.
This is very nice double seconds playing and I enjoyed seeing it. While I personally know Victor Provost, and agree that he is an amazing player, I'm sure that he would join me in saying to "safesaxman7" that Pan is not the contact sport he's (safesaxman7) making it out to be and that he too has players he considers better than himself. Nice job Philip
Contact sport my ass. Just trying to pump up Victor through the web. I have played with him several times in Suffolk VA as of late. Nobody touches the man with talent, presence and skill. No harm in letting the world know who's who. Not too many comments out there on pan players anyway so I don't believe I'm doing anyone any disservice by pointing out Victor as a superior player. If someone else see's who he is by my comments then I have accomplished my goal.
I can play those! I learned in High School, we were the only school within a few hundred miles to have a Steel Drum Band. :)

A part from 1:40 to the end of the video reminds me of Beethoven's "Fur Elise".

That must be pretty hard to play but most of the time he seems to be basically making random sounds.

Check out Victor Provost. He's way better and only plays on one drum. Best in the World.

Thank you for this.
In my opinion steel drums are without a doubt the coolest sounding percussion instruments invented. I wish I had met you while on the playa :)
