  • understand your friends answer. the only other one is the Easters song She Loved

  • Readiing over the comments...its no wonder why there is problems in society today. Amy Grant like all of us have made mistakes. Who are we to judge what we do or say? I have been a big Amy Grant fan for a long time and I really love the message in her music.

Unless all of you that have thrown stones are perfect...then you should have stones thrown back at you as well.

  • Wow. I guess I must not be a "real" Christian, because I don't kick people when they are down. All of you that are passing judgement on this page will one day have to answer for every word. It is not our place to pass judgement, rather help the one's around us that might be struggling.

not one of us is worthy, no, not one.

  • WTF!!!!

  • Luke 6:14 "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?"

Matthew 7:1 "Do not judge, or you too will be judged."

  • None of us know anything about Amy Grant aside from what we've been told. Why on earth people would carry on about someone's life they know little about in response to a beautiful and true song is beyond me, perhaps misery loves company? Each day we sin, and God does not "grade" sin like we do. We lie, we covet, we're jealous, *judgemental*, we gossip... among other things. We're only human, and each of us will answer for those things *for ourselves*.

  • Until then, some people need to get off their high horses and figure out if their constant know-it-all attitudes are really helping anyone at all, because while we're quoting scripture, I think the bible is quite clear on how God feels about that.

  • troll: One who purposely and deliberately (that purpose usually being self-amusement) starts an argument in a manner which attacks others on a forum without in any way listening to the arguments proposed by his or her peers.

    yeeeaaawhooo = troll

  • Since Amy first recorded this, I've wanted this played at my funeral....along with some other older hymns with great meaning to me.

  • Tired of Christians who choose to sit in judgement of others when they have no knowledge of their personal life. GOD is ALL KNOWING not you. Take the plank from your eye before you remove the speck from others. GOD will judge all of us--how we have all sinned so how will you fare on Judgement Day standing before the Throne of GOD ? Your taking the place of GOD by judging others could cause many to fall away from the LOVE of JESUS. How will you answer then? Enjoy the gift GOD gave her.

  • @Barragg, nope, what there are a lot of are Biblical illiterates who show by their ignorance of the largest-selling, most-studied, most-quoted, most-written-about, most-important book of all time, that they are educationally-deprived.

Being ignorant & uneducated would not be so critical if the ultimate consequence were not eternal separation from God! If you steadfastly refuse to read God's Word, & heed Him, how do you ever hope to avoid the wrath to come? Better heed Him! [John12:48, 1Cor6:9]

  • @lauriegirl2011, wow... what a way to ruin a beautiful illusion – shine the Word of God on it! Then, the vain worldly imaginings take on the ugly cast & foul smell of unrepentant sexual immorality that condemns the unrepentant to eternal torment [Heb10:26-27]. Nothing beautiful there, just the consequence of denying God’s Truth [John12:48]. Unrepentant adulteresses who steadfastly refuse to believe God and repent will have all of eternity to regret their foolishness [1Cor6:9, Matt13:41-42].

  • @samo530, no reason God gives for your failure to hear/heed Him is good! [John8:47; John3:20; Rom1:28; 1John3:8; Rom11:8; John12:40; 2Thes2:11-12] God tells us to hate sin, the things He hates, including divorce [Mal2:16].

If you steadfastly refuse to read the Bible & believe God, instead remaining ignorant of God’s Word, contradicting Him as you do, you will share the fate of unrepentant sexually-immoral adulteresses like Amy, God’s enemies [James4:4] enroute to hell [Heb10:26-27, 1Cor6:9].

  • @zynjan, so what's your point? Do you think that Apostle Paul's supposition [1Cor7:12] at 1Cor7:15 obviates the Lord's Commandment to the married at 1Cor7:10-11? It does not!!

Not being bound to the marital obligations of 1Cor7:3-5 is not license to marry! And, in any case, Gary did NOT depart, quite the reverse! Amy was bedding Vince (a married man), and then divorced Gary so that she could "marry" Vince in clear and direct disobedience of God!!! [Mark10:12, Rom7:3, 1Cor7:10-11]. She's toast.

  • Great reminder of what life is all about! I want my Father's eyes!!! Eyes to find the good in things when good is not around! And when you're called to stand and tell just what you saw in me - more than ANYTHING I know I want your words to be, "She had her Father's eyes." But when I meet my Father-God, I want his words to be, "Well done - good and faithful servant - you have been faithful. You have BELIEVED IN ME!" :) (Matthew 25:21 and 1 John 5:5)

  • @TheBigDelicious They're Bible verses; Corinthians and Hebrews. The number before the colon (:) is the chapter and the numbers after are the verses.

  • @yeeeaaawhooo thank you for correcting me.

  • @browntr95, much you say is true, but you need correction in a very important point. Being Christian is of critical, eternal importance! You cannot enter His Kingdom without being born again [John3:3, John1:12-13]. You must believe that Christ is God [John8:24]. Sure, salvation is available to Jew and gentile alike, and yes all are one in Christ (emphasize "in Christ," not outside of Christ) [Gal3:27-28], but how can you call on Him if you do not know Him [Rom1:14] to love Him [John14:21-23]?

  • @Breadon92 if you want proof God exists, look inside yourself. Laminin, the structure that is the glue of your human anatomy, is shaped like a cross.

He gave us free will, a relationship without it is no relationship at all. YOU choose whether you end up in eternal pain and suffering or in eternal life and rejoicing. YOU have to choose to pick up your cross and follow him. You dont havta be Christian to love God, God doesnt see Jew, Gentile, Slave or Free, just love him and follow his commands.

  • @starrenee have no idea what amy did, but i've been looking through these comments and im as shocked as you are. you all should be ashamed of yourselves.

  • @sadie3lisa, wow, how judgmental you are! And ignorant! God did not tell the adulteress to keep on committing adultery if it felt good, made her happy and rich. He says those who refuse to repent go to hell [1Cor6:9, Heb10:26-27]. All sin is NOT the same [1John5:16, Matt12:32]. Repentance means to turn from sin; you'll know Amy has repented and decided to believe God and love Him more than she loves adultery when she keeps His Commandment at 1Cor7:10-11.

Until then, she remains bound for hell.

  • @Breadon92 says: loving of all his children

While God says (John1:12-13): But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

Answering your questions in order: Yes (John8:24, Mark9:43-48); Christ Jesus (John10:26-30); He says so (Acts4:12).

Christ divides people into two groups: those who believe Him, and those who don't. Amy doesn't.

  • Amy Grant sings in this song, "And on that day when we will pay for all the deeds we have done." Yes... she will pay unless she repents and is forgiven. Acts 2:38, "Repent and let EVERY one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins..."

  • Amy Grant is an adulteress. God is sure to keep his word. Gal. 5:19-21, "Now the works of the flesh are evident...adultery, fornication, uncleaness...those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.:

I repented of an adulterous marriage and now am able to live clean as a single person before God in this age of the wicked apostate church.

Thank God for giving me truth.

  • @garlandm89, a reason many worldly people don't take Christians seriously is because so many phonies like Amy Grant profess Christianity, but have no valid answer to Christ's question at Luke6:46.

CINOs totally ignorant of God's Word make vapid, judgmental, worldly comments like yours against God's Word, while genuflecting to enemies of God like Amy Grant [James4:4] and "bishop" Eugene Robinson [1Cor6:9] with NO boldness to proclaim God's Word [including 1Cor7:10-11, Heb10:26-27]. Matt7:23!

  • Darva4 says: I disobey every day.

But, God says (Heb10:26-27): For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but rather a certain fearful expectation of judgment.

Believers believe God, unbelievers do not. Christians love God (John14:21-24), children of disobedience do not (Eph5:6). Whoever continues in adultery makes herself God's enemy (James4:4) with NO inheritance in His Kingdom (1Cor6:9).

    God's Word is the Truth!

  • @Breadon92 i dont know what you're problem is, but has it occurred to you that maybe He wasn't there? besides walking on water isn't all that He did. He caught a bunch of fish when the fishers hadn't caught anything that day, he made a man see when he was blind... but i don't have to explain this to you because it will be your own fault when you live in a firey misery in Hell. As my friend always says, why take the risk?

  • @icarenotreally i never said he was there i mearly stated a hypothothis. as for the fish, right bait right day. i've been skunked many a day while fishing with my family and yet they seemed to catch all the fish in the world. as for the man who was blind he can never prove that because i cant see through his eyes and i'm not him so all i have is his word nothing more. i don't hate religion but i have a question that has bugged me for some time now, i'll have to ask it in 2 replys

  • @icarenotreally my question is this: one of the deadly sins is Pride correct? well one of the 10 commandments, since i work at a food shelter for the poor i know this, is: thow shalt have no god or diety above me. now don't you think thats just a little bit prideful? he tells us to worship him or burn in hell? so many lives have died for him and so few for satan. war, crusade etc. it's because god doesn't give you the coice to worship him, the devil does. btw i dont worship 666

  • @rebos4em, and so what do you conclude from the Scripture to which you allude? That God is a liar, or doesn't mean what He says when He says that Amy is an unrepentant adulteress, who has made herself His enemy with NO inheritance in His Kingdom? Or, are you forced to conclude that Amy is not in Christ?

If the latter, and she remains unrepentantly described by (1Cor6:9), then she will spend eternity with all the other souls that Christ Jesus tells us are there, condemned by their own sin.

  • @hideousdwarf1, Christians are those who believe God. We are believers. When He says (John12:48), we believe Him. When He says (John14:21-24), we believe Him. Likewise (1John3:6). God speaks for Himself; you can read for yourself.

When God says that unrepentant adulteresses make themselves His enemies (James4:4) and have NO inheritance in His Kingdom (1Cor6:9), we believe Him. When He says (Heb10:26-27), we believe. And, when He says (Heb6:4-6) and (1John5:16), we do not call Him a liar.

  • I don't care much for the "blue eyed Jesus" that's a blasphemous racist joke.

We know Jesus wouldn''t have bright blue eyes. They would have been Dark eyes deep dark eyes.

  • Great song. I would really love if somebody put "Giggle" up on YouTube.

  • love this song! i think it is such a gift to be able to find the good in all the bad. what a gift of the Lord.

  • Ho no SIN POLICE!

  • uhm ..no ofense but dont fight over god pleas :(

  • Who takes offense at what God says at (1Corinthians 6:9)? They are, of course, those whom God names -- those who have no inheritance in His Kingdom! They are the sexually-immoral: fornicators, adulterers, arsenokoites and malakos. They are all in the same league according to God's Word with idolaters. They love their sin more than they love God, and they do not want to hear the Truth -- do not want to come to the Light that their wickedness should be made known (John3:20). How tragic!

  • @kg02170, there is not one "PROUD Catholic" in Heaven. To those who disparage God's Word, He says (James4:4-6):

Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, “The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously”? But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.”

  • This song touches my broken heart.

  • @prayermama9, do you believe what God tells us at (Heb10:26-27)? If not, why not?

@thump9er, does your mum believe God's Word? If so, why would she be offended by Him? Why would it be so "horrid" for God to say that unrepentant adulteresses have no inheritance in His Kingdom (1Cor6:9)?

@rmrpjm, it will not be difficult for all to see when Amy repents; she will stop sinning and keep God's commandment at (1Cor7:10-11). God does not say what He does at (James4:4) in vain.

    Read (Heb6:4-6)

  • A favorite of mine.

  • sang by? HAHAHAHA.

  • i lost my father 11 yrs ago.. when i was 5... i always remember him as my hero, but i have my real father! JESUS and i dont feel alone, i love him!

  • God is just and we need to remember that whatever we do in this life we will have to account for before Him on Judgement Day. God is a God who wants us to be saved and so we can be sure that He is going to do everything He can to help us.

Father, You are all good and a God of justice and truth. Help us to understand the demands of moral living so that we can live a truly righteous and holy life. AMEN...

  • My church always plays this song on father's day... so beautiful ... very hard to get through since I lost my father.. always think of him

  • I would hope this is what people can say about me...

  • @misabissett2000, please note that God did not tell the adulteress to continue committing adultery if it felt good, made her rich and happy.

Do you believe in forgiveness without repentance? Then, how do you explain (Heb 10:26-27): "For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful expectation of judgment."

You think you can you remain a child of disobedience, and yet expect to have salvation? Not!

  • @Sween9261 Brother or Sister, I have some questions for you, and i need to preface them with this: Yes, adultery is condemned by The Lord in the Bible. Yes it is a sin. That said; save for Jesus Christ, whom among us was or is perfect? Who among us has not sinned even after salvation has been granted? And finally, unless you are The Lord God Almighty, King of Kings, and Lord of Lords, Holy One, is it your place to determine who does-and does not-recieve salvation? Remember Job and be content

  • @Darva4, you are calling God a liar if you claim that Christians disobey every day (1John3:4-9). The children of disobedience disobey every day.

As for loving your children, atheists and muslims love their children, too, but if they disobey and play on the railroad tracks, you may love them deeply as you bury the various splatterings and pieces that remain after the train comes.

God takes no pleasure in anyone going to hell, but He tells us they far outnumber those who find the narrow gate.

  • i really love this song

  • God says those who love Him keep His commandments (John 14:23), and His commandments are not burdensome (1John 5:3). Those who do not love Him do not keep His words (John 14:24). People who are born of God do not continue sinning (1John 3:9); people who continue sinning have not seen Him and do not know Him (1John 3:6). Amy Grant rejects His Word (1Cor 7:10-11), and continues in on-going adultery (Mark 10:12). God says don't be deceived: adulterers have no inheritance in His Kingdom (1Cor 6:9).

  • @Sween9261 Why do you say these things about Amy Grant ? Do you have personal knowledge of her life ?

  • @dmq127, the answer to your second question is yes. But, anyone (without any special insight) can easily and readily see that she is in daily violation of God's commandment at (1Cor 7:10-11).

The answer to your first question has myriad answers that could just as well come from John the Baptist (speaking about Herodias), or any of the prophets (particularly Malachi), or Christ Jesus Himself.

Please notice that all the citations of God's Word are not specific to Amy Grant.

  • in my youth, this song gave a fresh, positive perspective that has help me along my way.

  • I LOVE YOU SO MUCH GOD

  • Gogle Amy Grant at her concert with Michael W Smith...she twice held up the devils salute...check it out and judge for yourself

  • Yeh..okay. I am thinking taht is her award. Please provide the link.

  • @katkollmer For some reason, I have supplied the link twice now and they have both disappeared but for those who want to know the truth about the music we listen to and the dangerous ground, they can search for themselves and find truth...even youtube is now starting to censor sights which our shedding light on the truth about the music and movie industry so if you are serious about who you serve, it would be a wise thing to search soon before they are deleted<3

  • Katkollmer: if being offended makes you feel better than be offended!

  • I am offended that we can have "religious" racism. You need to direct to someone character not a religion or faith.

  • why...Arbitrage, you a racist or something?

  • I like seeing how the different YouTubers create messages within the song from their perspectives. It is really nice. Amy Grant has always been a strong christian music artist. It is great to see how that music is interpreted.

  • i just auditioned 4 americas got talent and i sang dis song

  • I like this.....

  • very nice song but the vid is poorly arranged.

  • i have lovd this song since i was a kid.....im now 39 and still cry when i hear it cause i never got to have a relationship with my father until 4 months b4 his death...an i took care of him all 4 months till the day he died and always hadanger built up in me because i felt he was never there 4 me but i always wanted that 1 called dad there.........now that hes gone i do miss him alot.....i hope he forgave me 4 all my anger..........

  • @jammer3602 im shure he has forgave you u took care of him and he loves u no matter how strong that anger was because you love him know

  • awesome video.. thanks for posting

  • Must all Baptist act and speak like abused children.

Get this people: There is 1 (ONE) God!

  • @Arbitrage31 now that isn't nice. I am a baptist and I don't speak like abused children. It is the character of the person that creates the comments not the faith of the person. I don't know who you were talking about, but I am offended. Please be nice.

  • love this song and hope she makes more like it

  • When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, "I used everything you gave me."

  • kim,

well said. Whatever talent you have if it is fully used for His purpose, then it belongs to body of Christ; no more of your own. Very profound statement indeed.

  • @rondawalker Its not that you wouldn't have any talent left but yet it would be well invested and yeild many more fruit in each of the fertile plots of soil where you planted the talents.. Each life you touch thru your God given talents has the potential to grow blossom and bear fruit that will also bear more seeds and fruit .

  • I am an old geiser... the reason the song didn't make much sense in the father/daughter way is that when amy grant first started singing all her songs were christian in origin and this was on her debut album...she is singing about herself and HIM, you know the big guy upstairs....

  • But isn't God our Holy Father?

I think that's what this song is about. Casting off our predejucies and looking with eyes that see everything that our Father made the same way he does. With Love and Forgiveness.

  • my mom loves this song so i logged on to rate it <3 :D B-)

  • listen to the words! its a beautiful song! we should all want to have our fathers eyes...

this has been one of my favorite songs since i was little, and it is how i want to be remembered in life...

  • i agree...this is a very song...my friend played this for her quinceanera an i almost pulled my ipod out to listen to somethin else! but i sucked it up an just got thru it....all christian music is oh so boring....period......to me tho....

  • Well, I am planning my wedding and this song came up as a good one to have my father/daughter dance. I have to say, I don't understand why! I loved Amy Grant growing up, and I love Christian music, but her voice doesn't sound great in this song....AND it makes no sense as a father/daughter dance. Not to mention, it's a boring song. If people cry during the dance, that's okay. But if it's because they're bored to tears, that is not all right.

  • This is the song that my father and I danced to at my wedding. I was thrilled and it was beautiful because he was a beautiful person. To be described as having his character is the best compliment I could ever receive. How sad for you.

  • I actually think it's more sad for you that you can't just accept when someone disagrees with you. It's not like I attacked anything about the song or the video, just said it was boring, that Amy Grant does not sound good in this song, and that to me, it makes no sense as a father/daughter song. I wasn't rude or mean-spirited...it'd be nice to get the same respect back.

  • Lord, please tell me that she isn't a Catholic!

  • Oh yes, she is a devout Roman Catholic, you know the One True Church.

  • You are obviously incredibly ignorant about the Catholic Church.

We don't worship Mary and the Saints: we ask them as fellow Christians to help pray for us to the Lord. It is no different then asking a fellow Christian to pray with or for us.

As for graven images: if it is evil to use a talent given by God (that of art) to make things to worship him, then send me to hell.

Confession is not asking forgiveness from a human being, but rather it is asking forgiveness from God through the priest.

  • I meant this as a reply to the anti-catholic comment mentioned earlier.

  • I am confused. The CCaruana, who are you talking to? Can you please clarify?

  • My bad, the one I was talkign to was reported as spam and thus the comment is no longer relevant.

  • and what does that priest do for you CC? He is not Jesus and he isn't God or the Holy Spirit. The only way to Christ is through him not a guy who is a want a be.

  • He's not a want to be. The priest never claims to be God or Christ, but rather someone who, like a pastor of any protestant church, helps guide the flock so to speak.

Confession is not the only way to apologize for your sins, you're perfectly at liberty to do it by praying to God. The priest provides a way to be more accountable and get some moral guidance on what to do about your sins.

  • I am just asking a question. If you need a man to help you be accountable, are you saying that you can't figure out a sin that you did.?ie.eat too much food, speed down the road disobeying the laws, and what would he need to do in order to give you moral guidance?Isn't that like telling you to stop? You ask for forgiveness, and you receive. You get that guidance from the Holy Spirit that is in you. You don't need a priest to give you guidance. Listen to your heart. I am saying this respectfully

  • Thank you for your respectful and not pig-headed responses, they go a long way in keeping a debate worth having. It's not that I can't figure out when I've sinned, but rather, having the priest there, to me, is a way for God to help me search my conscience.

The moral guidance is more to help you figure out how to right the wrongs that you have caused and heal the harm to others. You can listen to your heart but sometimes its not as clear. If God can use a heart surely God can also use a priest

  • Okay. your welcome. But, can't you let the Holy Spirit lead you within yourself? You really don't have to right the wrong you did. when you ask forgiveness it is given. There is no checks and balances. You did wrong..end of statement. But, when you see yourself doing the same thing (like speeding) your spirit will tell you...uhhhhh...uuuhhh. You are doing it again. Stop and listen to that. A man will not get you to Heaven. You don't need a middle man. That is when logic gets involved.

  • We get so caught up with formalities of religion, that we forget that it is simple. Ask Jesus as your personal Savior through Salvation, and His Holy Spirit will be in you. Your sins are forgiven. When you make another boo, boo, go to Him and say what you did, and say you are sorry. The Holy Spirit will tell you what needs to be done...like slow down on the road...cuz if you don't the consequence could be a wreck. and...he did try to tell you...so you always have to be listening. Always.

  • Sorry...cc. I wasn't meaning a "what a be" as being disrespectful. I was saying some priests think they are the middle man. YOu understand what I am saying. Thanks! :)

  • @TheCCaruana I can see that you are obviously upset by the comments made above...but though they might not have been said in a friendly way, they are the truth...read Exodus 20 (for I know that now you are free to read your bible for yourself as I have many catholic friends) and then read books like Numbers and many other OT books and you will see that "graven images" are what you refer to as "art"...and confess to GOD directly...that was HIS blood shed...and read the bible to be sanctified<3

  • @checotahkid uuuuhhhh...I don't think so.

  • @checotahkid she wasn't raised as a Catholic.

  • No. She is not Catholic. That is a religion. She has a faith that she follows.
