The tune is the tune of First and Last and Always, but if you actually listened to the song you would see that the tune is the only thing similar to that song :p

First and Last and Always and Marian were both derived from this demo song, which is called Red Skies Disappear.

To be honest, the only similarities I see here are that this song is also about someone named Marian, and in it he sings lines such as "Marian, can you hear me calling?" "Marian, only you can say the words I need to hear. Marian,only you can make these red skies disappear"

So the"story"can be said to match that of the song Marian. Further than that, I believe it was Eldritch himself who stated that it was from this song that the band derived both First and Last and Always and Marian.

just wanted to mention also that when I said I liked it better than the original version, I meant in the sense that the sound is better and seems added to on this one as opposed to how the original FALAA sounds. I don't like it better than FALAA lyrics-wise though because it's not the real FALAA song and I think the FALAA song is better with the FALAA lyrics of course.

I reckon it's Gary Marx singing. He wrote the music to FALAA, and it doesn't sound like Wayne singing IYAM. Think of the voice of Ghost Dance and I reckon this is definitely the same voice.

this song is quite similar to a demo version of "Marian" from the "In the Shadow of Angels" LP. The lyrics are the same, but there might be a slight fifference, I'm not sure. Good song.

you're probably right, I don't hold the cd case right now, but I've heard another version of Marian, actually a demo, and which had almost the same melodies than the album version (not FALAA with other lyrics).
