@MrEstrella1999 Get this. I have the same phone (though called Samsung Prevail) and it works great! I've had it since mid December. I haven't heard many good things about the Optimus.
I have this phone.it is nw 139.99.my 1st time using this phone was ystrdy,it started 2 freeze & the light on the phone startd to dim low thn come back up slowly while it was still frozen,I had to take my battery out 4 times.I went into my phone & stopped the apps that I didnt use,it workd perfect. before i ordered this phone I had 2 see if it would work n my area it said it didnt,I still ordered it,it has all bars all because they go by your zipcode of where you will be using the phone the most.
@JJET200 just check the sprint coverage map on sprints website and if it shows coverage in your area, order it online and have it shipped to you. it will work.
I have this phone. I live in central Calif. I get the internet signal and can check my emails or facebook, etc. I drive away from my home into the next town 1 mile away and no internet while others are on their cells with internet commection. Did I do something wrong when setting up my cell when I got it which was about a week ago? Shall i call Straight talk support and ask them or do you have suggestions? I may have more questions again later. Thank you!
I have a question...my mom just got this phone and we cant figure out how to save media messages..i sent her some music to use as ringtones and we dont know how to save them..can you tell us how!?!?
im sorry to bother you with questions but it says on the website it supports instant messageing so my question is the yahoo messenger already on the phone or do you have to go to the android market to get it?
Im sorry, this "overview" was just terrible. The phone is also garbage. Android 2.2 (2 yrs old) 800Mhz processor and 300mb RAM (slow) and low res screen...
this phone sucks.. i have it and i dont recomend it.. its always freezing it never has enough memory its lame.. its always pissing me off! .. i dont like the thing

Hey I was looking at the terms of use stuff and it says the unlimited data plan says the data cant be used for: access the internet, streaming of video, downloading games, etc. Does that apply to the android phones?
@scissormon You're OK with sites like youtube and pandora. Here's the example they give in the terms of service: "This means, by way of example only, that checking email, surfing the Internet, downloading legally acquired songs, and/or visiting corporate intranets is permitted, but downloading movies using P2P file sharing services and/or redirecting television signals for viewing on laptops is prohibited."
@FoneReviewDotCom ok cause I was looking at the terms of use and what they said kinda made having the precedent useless. So i can do pretty much anything I like MMS, android market, etc. I just cant do illegal stuff like what u listed right? PS: Why does the terms of use say that you cant access the internet, stream video, upload download, no games, etc. on the$45 unlimited plan?
@scissormon I think it's just worded funny, which makes it confusing. It's their catch-all escape clause for handling people who use multiple GBs of data every month. I wonder if eventually they'll have to drop the word "unlimited" and say the limit is 2GB or something, which is basically unlimited for the vast majority users. Most carriers have already done something similar. Anyway, yes you'll be find with MMS, android market, youtube, pandora, etc.
no offence but this phone is very cheap and laggs (ALOT) you would be way better off getting the ZTE warp from boost mobile its the best android for any prepaid company trust me
@SACITYTEXAS Tethering is where you hook your phone up to a laptop to use as a modem so you can use the internet on the laptop through the phone's data connection. Doing so would violate Straight Talk's terms of service, and they can cancel your service if they catch on.
seeing how they only charge u a one month subscription at a time, how do they bill you for buying apps? just something i was curious about if they have to have your CC info and what not.
Are people dumb? It's an android device, you can do anything you can normally do on an android phone. The only difference is that it isn't as powerful as a normal android phone.(The specs are worse)
i dont know if i should get it or not because where i live is what sprint calls "Off-Network Roaming'... should i get it or would it be a waste of money?
@topherlinc the basic phones use Verizon, and the more advanced phones use AT&T and sprint. In another review someone mentioned (which made sense) that Verizon who charge quite a lot would lose out, if they let ST use their towers, since you can get everyhthing unlimited for $45 dollars why would you stay with Verizon. Personally though I've had great reception with Sprint on the Optimus Q (thank god)
@topherlinc Straight talk has phones that run off ATT towers, Verizon towers, and now Sprint towers. They don't discriminate, except that certain phones are locked to certain towers.
seriously...could you do less more talkin next time and do some more show and tell. i really wouldve liked how more of the functions worked like texting and stuff dang...
Their have been mixed reviews about this phone by...a). Sprint Network and b). being able to use it as a modum. I need to know the truth. Can you download aps or do you have to buy them? Can you add or take away video files such as realplayer or Quicktime? Is it worth the $150.00?
@FoneReviewDotCom the wifi.. does the phone connect to wifi or is it a hot spot? cause i have the shitty first touch screen phone and its a joke the texting is a bitch the "internet" blows donkey dick and it will delete contacts when it pleases
@austinschingen Yes. You can download your own music to the phone, and Pandora works well too. The internal speakers are passable, but you'll probably want to use headphones or external speakers.
The guy talks a lot and says little about the phone.
Is it a capacitive or resistive touch screen? How fast is the processor. Does it play flash videos other than ones from Youtube. SD memory card, how big can you add, 4, 8, 16, 32 gig??? What is the screen resolution. How can someone go to the trouble of uploading a video about a phone and then leave the most important details out.
hello guys, if you would like to buy a phone .. see to it that you ask to which company it will run through so that you won't have any regrets after paying the phone.
i got mine today from walmart and it is october 16. The one i got had a 5mp camera not a 2 and i think it has android 4.4 but i dont know i would have to go check.
Go with the Virgin Mobile LG Optimus V. Its the same service as what the Precedent uses, but the LG Optimus is a MUCH better phone. Trust me, I have an Optimus V and I love it. Also, Sprint service here in Metro Atlanta is GOOD.
I can't get sprint here where I live. & I have a straighttalk phone & it's supposed to run on Verizon until I heard it runs on AT&T & then heard about this running on Sprint.. Is it possible for you to get the phone to run on a coverage that you can get service at? Like Verizon & AT&T? Because those are the only company's that work where I live.
@FoneReviewDotCom. Will they do anything to change that? It seems that many people complain mostly about the Sprint Network when it comes down to this phone. THanks in advance for your response.
Love the phone. However, I trashed the Google Search box on the home page some time ago, but now want it back. Anyone know how to do this? I copied the Google Search icon to that page, but only the icon appeared. Don't know how to get the actual search box back.
@stewartx5 It's the google search widget, so you'll want to add it as a widget instead of an app. Google something like "how to add android widgets" and you should find better info on how to do it than what I'd be able to give you here.
Thanks for the info. Shortly after posting the question, I was able to figure it out with a bit of searching. However, that search was not so easy considering I didn't even really know what to search for or what a widget was. Regardless, thanks again for taking the time to respond.
I just viewed the coverage map for the ST android phone, and it sucks! If you want a android on ST take boogerbo5555 advise. You will get better coverage.
I just bought this phone, Can someone tell me how to download apps from the market, i find one i like, i click download and accept, and it just says starting download..., but nothing happens after that. Is there anything that im doing wrong?
@saixiong08 It should tell you that the download is complete and give you the option to open the app. If it's not, you might want to check your apps list to see if it's there. Maybe it downloaded but didn't give a confirmation?
@SantaOwning Oh I see.. I didn't know.. I live in Montana (lol) and I have the 6790 smartphone, but I use an out of state number so I can use the smartphone which I have no prob with.. This android one course won't work here because we don't have Sprint. Sad. =p Was excited about this until I heard about it running on Sprint! Glad I saw this video though or I might have wasted a lot of money!
@fmmjtd3280962910 The standard messaging client doesn't have signatures (at least not that I can find), but you can download a free 3rd party messaging client like handcent that does do signatures.
@mjk53 I can't find anything on the phone that says for sure, but judging by the amount of free space it shows and by adding up the space used by the apps that are running, I'd say the internal space is about 50MB? I may be calculating something wrong, but it's definitely MB and not GB
I've had this phone for about 2 weeks. I like it except for the fact it runs off Sprints network. Before this I had Straight Talk's cheapest flip phone that used Verizon's network and I never had a problem getting reception. Now with the Precedent, I have to walk outside when I make or get a call to get a decent signal. The 3G and wi-fi work great, but I really, really wish it used Verizon's towers. Then it would be perfect.
@MrFredy123456 yes you can but that would require you to root (aka jailbreak) the phone...modify the following url for use in browser, ow[dot]ly/6Nmpi
@23ALEX24 If you can find the Straight Talk Samsung Galaxy at a Wal Mart for $70, then buy every last one of them off the shelf and sell them on ebay or something!
the phone works great and you can customize it and add extra effects to it. you can watch youtube/ cnn/ and some other sites that have video but no flash 10.3 :( overall its a cool phone if you never had a smart phone. I wish there was a way to get 10.3 flash.

I just bought this phone, Can someone tell me how to download apps from the market, i find one i like, i click download and accept, and it just says starting download..., but nothing happens after that. Is there anything that im doing wrong?
saixiong08 5 months ago
@saixiong08 It should tell you that the download is complete and give you the option to open the app. If it's not, you might want to check your apps list to see if it's there. Maybe it downloaded but didn't give a confirmation?

Just get a refurb E71, take the sim card out and put in in a real android phone like I did. This phone blows and so does Sprint.
boogerboy5555 5 months ago
@boogerboy5555 Be careful with how much data you use. If you overdo it, Straight Talk will shut down your account.

@FoneReviewDotCom
Very true, same for any phone used on Straight Talk.

Why does this phone run on Sprint, but the other Straight Talk phones run on Verizon?
Murd3rcute 5 months ago 10
@Murd3rcute Most ST smartphones are at&t. Where I live we get the worst at&t connection so I guess I got little luckier.

Glad I saw this video though or I might have wasted a lot of money!

does this phone have a text messaging signature?
fmmjtd3280962910 5 months ago
@fmmjtd3280962910 The standard messaging client doesn't have signatures (at least not that I can find), but you can download a free 3rd party messaging client like handcent that does do signatures.

do you know what the internal storage on this is? does anyone have any idea? please let me know
mjk53 5 months ago

Then it would be perfect.

can I use this phone to share wifi to other diveces?
MrFredy123456 5 months ago
@MrFredy123456 Unfortunately, it doesn't have a wifi hotspot feature.
FoneReviewDotCom 5 months ago
