@Whatisright If you want to be super anal then yea, the focal length of the lens doesn't physically change just coz you put it on a crop sensor body. But because of the crop it resembles the appearance of a lens with a focal length 1.6x longer (with canon's APSC, 1.5x for nikon's). So for all intents and purposes what they are saying is correct. But you are also correct. There are subtle differences for example between 200mm on full frame and 200mm eviqualent on APSC, such as the amount of DOF.
Good positive basic information that amateurs will appreciate. Good on Canon for putting these informative lessons on the web without making them infomericals.
Good info. I've got a 7D. Can't wait to learn more. Want to get a nicer lens or 2 for prime uses, or at least a good all around lens with a wide aperture use for a variety of shots.

The sensor size doesn't increase focal length, only affects how much you see in the image.
