the solo is fantastic (and far more impressive in person) but i'm just as impressed nils can spin around consecutively so many times while playing and not fall over.....that takes some doing!

@mwvdzee bruce didn't co-wrote the song.. Bruce WROTE the song, but he didn't publish it so he gave the song to Patti Smith (adapting the text for a woman, in fact the 2 lyrics are different), that was recordindg her album in the studio near Bruce at the time of "in the edge of dark" session

Nils Lofgren, amazing performer. 3 months after this concert, after years of doing these types of on-stage theatrics, Nils had hip replacement surgery for both hips.

i was at that concert. it was absoloutly amazing, i knew that nils had a history of doing amazing solos during this song, nobody expected the flip. the crowd was going insane
