It got a 10 on pitchfork when the website still only had local ambitions. They were trying to get their local St-Paul and Minneapolis friends a push, like 12 Rods and Walt Mink.

They also had a strange anti-New York stance back then. They'd bash Blonde Redhead and Sonic Youth every chance they got. Those embarrassing traces of petty regionalistic pride have been pretty much erased from the site.

@CAYOMluver it's just a music review site with their own style. if you think that their reviews are shit and biased, well you have to realize that any review of music is biased to someone's personal taste. just like robert christgau claims to be objective but at the same time he says he hates heavy metal. there's no way to be objective in this. So your "fuck pitchfork" slogan is kind of useless. If you don't like those reviews, make your own. I'm pretty sure that's what started pitchfork.

I just discovered these guys when I saw the 10/10 Pitchfork review. I assumed if Pitchfork loved it then it would be some bloated pretentious hipster crap, but this is a great band. Very creative melodically and sonically. Great lyrics. I can't believe they're not even big within indie circles. What the hell is going on? Maybe they were a bit late to the show, since they came after the early 90s indie era or whatev. Gonna buy whatever albums I can find on Egay and rip 'em in FLAC. Win.
