Jeff, The Problems I am having is learning the melody, its not so much the finger placment on the neck its the picking part, is there some kind of picking exercise that one can do to improve this. I can go up and down the scale with ease pretty much that is like one continues motion, its getting two fingers to work together, at the same time. like in the melody, the very 1st two notes are two differnt strings using two differnt plucking fingers.
@Rod7514 The only secret to this is to play it very, very, very slowly. Play it as slowly as possible. It will start to pick up speed naturally on its own. That's the only trick I know for this. Slow it way, way, way down at first. Don't worry about tempo or even rhythm at all at first. It's hard to practice that way, but it works.
There are no chords rights...just picking...can you PLEASE...PLEASE...come out with a full tutorial on how to play this? I need to learn how to play this song for my dad..
@bayman99 Sorry it took so long to reply. Go to my website and you'll find a tab for this. That should help. E-mail me with any questions and I'll be glad to help you with it.
Hey Jeff. Where can you get that type of guitar pick your using? I've always wanted to find a good one, but all the ones at my local music store are crappy.
It's a golden gate thumbpick. They are the best. Google them and see where you can buy them. I buy them at a local guitar store in Boulder, CO called H.P. Woodsongs.
Thank you. Yes, I also play electric. I played only electric guitar for about 10 years before switching over to acoustic. I'm kind of hooked on the acoustic now because it's so much "fuller" sounding and it sounds better as a solo instrument.
hey jeff..thats great thanks...but if you can get a close up on your left hand it would help...kinda guessing at what your doing..........thanks -Garvey
No I'm not from Rhode Island, but something about me makes people always think they know me from someplace. That happens to me all the time. Anyway, I can't post my website url here, but if you google me, you'll find my website and the tab is there.
You are the best guitar teacher EVER! I have been playing in punk bands for years but never took a lesson. I am now your loyal youtube student. Thanx so much for posting these videos. ^_^
Thank you so much! What a wonderful compliment. The only music I listened to in high school was punk rock. I still really like the Ramones, Misfits, Pistols, and Black Flag.
Thank you. Yes, playing "Linus & Lucy" is always a nice, fun break from the seriousness of a solo guitar show. It always loosens a room up quite a bit.
I got the hang of playing it slowly really quick, now i just have to speed it up like 4x lol
Thanks for the great tutorial!

Thanks for the lesson!! I've always loved this tune....A good teacher can play a fast tune real slow!!! Not an easy thing to do.
voyota1 3 years ago
Thank you very much. Yes, playing this slow actually is more difficult than playing at fast at this point. You're right.

Hi Jeff, recently discovered your videos. Really enjoy your work - very nice tone, excellent and smooth right-hand attack. Thanks a lot for uploading!
I perform mainly British Isles ballads and fingerstyle stuff - Linus and Lucy would be a nice "comic relief" for the audience, eh?
