God Bless this dog. He has suffered unmercifully. I ask, what kind of human being could cause any living creature such suffering deliberately & call themselves part of the human race. Horrible people could do this. I pray for this dog that he is healed completely & that he does not live in pain thru his life. Horrific animal abuse happens all over Greece,mass poisoning as well,& seems to be condoned by their uncaring Govt.who accuse us of transporting dogs to the u.k.[costing over 400 euro per dog] for medical experiments!!!

I live in Greece (I am Greek) in a neighborhood where most people have pets and they take good care of homeless dogs and cats. We provide them with food and water every day and If we have the cance to approach them we take them to the vet nearby. There are many good people in Greece but unfort.many wicked as well....

Contd from previous.....If you want to help, the next time you holiday in Greece, look out for this kind of charity. Many islands have them, they are usually run by british volunteers with the assistance of the local vets. They provide so much for the strays and are always trying to find new homes for them. It's not an easy job and they need as much financial help as possible.

contd from previous..... PAWS have implemented a neutering programme, all dogs are regularly checked, collared and treated. I personally have seen a great improvement in the health of the street dogs and a significant reduction in the amount of stray cats. The case of Leo is a sickening highlight of the worst kind of animal cruelty and was made very public all over Greek tv. Many Greek people were disgusted by this outrage too.

I regularly visit Poros at least once or twice a year and I feel compelled to highlight that there is a voluntary animal welfare organisation that exists on the island and although they are unable to prevent this kind of wickedness,they are called PAWS and they are fighting a battle daily to ensure the health and humane treatment of all stray animals on the island.
