Bravo! Well played!!! Nice build up in the middle section of the arpeggios just before the return of the main theme. I think the temp is spot on since toccata is not equal to "go like hell just to try to impress people resulting in a blur of sound and organ mush." I can hear the musical line, the complexity of rhythmic patterns and musical motives, and I can appreciate the virtuosity of the player. THIS is what makes a TOCCATA! I can see Boellmann smiling now.

This was played very well. A little slow but it was played well and an organist can only be as good as the organ sometimes. I think if there were more pedal stops if would have sounded a lot better.

After reading a lot of comments, and listening to this quite a few times (as well as a number of other renditions...), I think the tempo is dead on, but the cadence is what is "off". This seems to be less a function of the player, rather the responsiveness of the organ itself. I completely agree with @GranConcertoViole, the instrument itself isn't ideally suited for this work, not just because of the general voicing of the instrument, but the responsiveness as well.

Und diese Musik steht nicht unbedingt für schnell. wer sagt das? ehrlich, hast du mit ihm persönlich gesprochen? vieles wird einfach falsch interpretiert. Wer war bei ihm? Keiner von uns. Sorry, aber ich kann einen solchen genialen Komponisten nicht wirklich interpretiren. Und ehrlich gesagt, steht es auch keinem andem zu.

Some people play this according to the principle of "the faster and louder - the better". I like your interpretation very much, it is possible to hear through the mass of sound what goes on with your hands (and feet).

not the right organ ... too many "ripieno". Th effect is not the impressiveness that Boellmann asks. On this kind of organ is better to play Bach, not romantics.

Da gehört einfach mehr Emotion und Agressivität rein. Gut, vielleicht liegt's auch an dieser piepsigen - und am ende schreienden - pseudo-barockorgel, dass man da keine große wirkung rausbringt, aber mit dem schweller hätte man sicherlich was anfangen können.

Da möchte ich zustimmen. Mir ist es zu gleichmäßig gespielt, ohne Höhen und Tiefen. Die Lautstärke hätte auch etwas dynamischer sein können und manche Bindungen empfand ich als einfach zu lasch. Über das Tempo kann man sich streiten, ich fand es ok. Etwas mehr Emotion und Agressivität hätten der Darbietung gut getan

Also, ich hätte am Anfang vorsichthiger registriert. Ich hab das damals so gemacht: Am Anfang Rohrflöte und Salicional 8', und erst zu den letzten vier Accorden die Trompete.

Playing such a wildly intense melody so slowly does not do it justice. Also, I assume that the irregular timing is intentional, since it is "irregular" in all the same spots. Although I appreciate improv work, I believe that Boellman intended for it to be more symmetric in tempo. Great job, nonetheless!

Yes! One thousand and one times YES! The tempo is perfect. It's a Toccata of course, but you heard other interpretations on You Tube! Really shameful. Almost with missing notes and wrong touch.....but lots of useless speed! At least we are hearing the same Toccata which Boelmann wrote.

So, keep it up! You're excellent.
