I just got fired from Walmart for wanting to go to the hospital after passing out 3 times and been sick a couple days. Walmart does not care about it's employees at all. Lowest pay. Expensive insurance my own workers had to walk me to my car and drive me because management doesn't give a shit.

Come to Canada! Walmart prices are matched with US prices and associates make more per hour. Actually most of our prices in stores private or big box are the same. The gas station prices for chips/pop are lower except our gasoline and beer but hows the HEALTH CARE. We dont get a bill and CATSCANS are free

Dept managers may make .50 to $2 more depending on experience and lenght of time. Assistant Store Managers start at 38,500 a year. A store manager will make $120,000 a year based on a 120,000 sq ft store. A Dstrict Manager is around 250 to 350 a year. Yah its sucks to be a intro Associate at basic wage. Look outside the box sometimes!

@KripDrip Gas in some areas gas is 5 bucks or less ranging around 4.25 but if you take the U.S states that border Canada their state gas is around 3.55 to 3.86 a gallon but the minimum wage is 6 to 7 dollars an hour in those states. Plus food and fruit is more expensive in those little border towns in the U.S.

I've worked for Walmart since 2005 and I only make $9.10 an hour, the only reason why I'm fine financially is because I live with my parents who, thanks to God have good jobs. I can't afford to live on my own on that salary! I'd have to be on some type of government aid in order to make it on my own. That's basically the definition of the working poor!

@triforce640 Pushing carts? I was doing that in my early twenties at Sobeys. Once parcel pick up was no longer in place, the job sucked, no tips, no hot women asking to to watch out for their eggs ever so nicely. Unloaders? Used to be second in charge of night crew at a grocery store. Had to unload three trucks per night and then put the 300-400 cases on the shelves before the boss got in. Roughest job I ever had, but the pay made you stay. The only job that deserves higher wages is night crew.

@carlmelanson1 actually the bonus is based on the amount of shrinkage you had that quarter, for example my Christmas bonus last year was a $24 and I've seen people get fired just for asking for more hours the majority of people at Walmart make 10,000 a year or less for example I've been there for two years and I'm still making just above $7 an hour. Like I said this has nothing to do with communism and at the rate that it is going down here Walmart will be a monopoly and everyone will work here

Walmart tells you at your orientation DO NOT WORK OFF THE CLOCK EVER! and they pay you even if they call you at home to ask you a question or if you help a customer on your break. There's so much assuming you're doing in this comment it's asinine. You assume wrong that I have a desk job. Wrong. Worked 2 full time jobs and a part time for 4 yrs. Frito-Lay Merchandiser, Forklift Operator 2 full times and part time merchandiser for Pepsi after my shift at Frito and before my shift at the warehouse. Worked 100+ hrs a week EASY. Would be too tired to walk inside after a 20hr work day so I would fall asleep in the ONE car in the driveway.
Since my stores were spread out over a 30sq/mile area, I would sometimes sleep at rest areas while driving in between my Frito Stores and Pepsi ones. Lived on Beef Jerky, SoBe Energy Drinks and diet pills for the caffeine for almost the entire time I was working this hellish routes. So believe me, working for Wal-Mart is a cakewalk compared to those jobs. Although they do pay more, there is 10 times more bullshit you put up with.

I find this kind of crap pretty funny. I currently work for walmart in Maine. I started in March of '08. In that short of time not only have I gotten two promotions, but I am making $13.95/hr. I have life insurance, health insurance, partially matched stock option as well as 10% of everything other than food. As far as unions go, most of the associates I know, don't want unions. Come to Canada! Walmart prices are matched with US prices and associates make more per hour. Actually most of our prices in stores private or big box are the same. The gas station prices for chips/pop are lower except our gasoline and beer but hows the HEALTH CARE. We dont get a bill and CATSCANS are free

In Ontario, Canada the minimum wage is 10.65 an hour and that is working at Walmart as a intro associate. You get an extra 1 per hour for the nightshift. Dept managers may make .50 to $2 more depending on experience and lenght of time. Assistant Store Managers start at 38,500 a year. A store manager will make $120,000 a year based on a 120,000 sq ft store. A Dstrict Manager is around 250 to 350 a year. Yah its sucks to be a intro Associate at basic wage. Look outside the box sometimes!

Prices at Walmart are pretty much the same but sometimes have different products. Our minimum wage in Ontario, Canada is 10.75 an hour. Cashiers start out at 11.75 an hour. @KripDrip Gas in some areas gas is 5 bucks or less ranging around 4.25 but if you take the U.S states that border Canada their state gas is around 3.55 to 3.86 a gallon but the minimum wage is 6 to 7 dollars an hour in those states. Plus food and fruit is more expensive in those little border towns in the U.S.
In the end you know Canadians when they visit they leave and go home not much like the Mexican side. I think Canada is winning! lol

I've worked for Walmart since 2005 and I only make $9.10 an hour, the only reason why I'm fine financially is because I live with my parents who, thanks to God have good jobs. I can't afford to live on my own on that salary! I'd have to be on some type of government aid in order to make it on my own. That's basically the definition of the working poor!

They do this for nine hour shifts at a time in weather that is over 100 degrees or below 30. The unloaders? I don't think you know just how full and big those trucks are take a guess at how many people unload the truck 3 to 4, oh and did I mention that simply opening a truck will have merchandise fall on you

Once parcel pick up was no longer in place, the job sucked, no tips, no hot women asking to to watch out for their eggs ever so nicely. Unloaders? Used to be second in charge of night crew at a grocery store. Had to unload three trucks per night and then put the 300-400 cases on the shelves before the boss got in. Roughest job I ever had, but the pay made you stay. The only job that deserves higher wages is night crew.

@carlmelanson1 actually the bonus is based on the amount of shrinkage you had that quarter, for example my Christmas bonus last year was a $24 and I've seen people get fired just for asking for more hours the majority of people at Walmart make 10,000 a year or less for example I've been there for two years and I'm still making just above $7 an hour. Like I said this has nothing to do with communism and at the rate that it is going down here Walmart will be a monopoly and everyone will work here

Walmart tells you at your orientation DO NOT WORK OFF THE CLOCK EVER! and they pay you even if they call you at home to ask you a question or if you help a customer on your break. I liked working there and was treated well... The problem is that there are so many wal-mart stores that a few managers screwed up somewhere and allowed things like that to happen so now walmart gets a bad name.

Since my stores were spread out over a 30sq/mile area, I would sometimes sleep at rest areas while driving in between my Frito Stores and Pepsi ones. Lived on Beef Jerky, SoBe Energy Drinks and diet pills for the caffeine for almost the entire time I was working this hellish routes. So believe me, working for Wal-Mart is a cakewalk compared to those jobs. Although they do pay more, there is 10 times more bullshit you put up with.

Or at least wasn't that what it was supposed to be? I'm in lower/middle management. I have 2 college degrees. I'm paid only about 70% of what I should be paid for my job. If the day ever comes that I think I'm not being paid enough, whatever "enough" is, I will quit my job. If you don't want to work for $8 per hour simply don't go to work tommorrow. You are NOT a slave. If any company cannot hire qualified workers for what they are offering then guess what? They will raise their pay or close. Honor Labor and have some self respect!

Unions have destroyed the US auto industry, the textile manufacturing industry, I can go on and on. Ever wonder why you can't purchase anything "Made in the USA"? Because unions want to pay someone $25 per hour plus premium insurance benefits with little to no contribution from the employee to sew a shirt together. How much do you think manufactures would have to sell that shirt for? That golf shirt would cost $50 and not even be a brand name when it's real value should be around $12

I find this kind of crap pretty funny. I currently work for walmart in Maine. I started in March of '08. In that short of time not only have I gotten two promotions, but I am making $13.95/hr. I have life insurance, health insurance, partially matched stock option as well as 10% of everything other than food. As far as unions go, most of the associates I know, don't want unions. You can cry, bitch and moan all you want. I love my job and will continue to work, and advance as far as I can

Must be a section manager or something... A lot of people that don't have jobs are either good for nothings that are mooching off of the tax payers, or people who used to have a high paying job they got laid off from and they refuse to get anything that pays less.
There are jobs out there, you just have to LOOK FOR ONE.

Many of those people have student loans, mortgages, etc, to pay off, and places like WalMart, McDonald's, etc, won't pay enough to subsist and pay off their loans. Also, such employers usually tend to turn down such people as being overqualified or overeducated.

@robertsheldon4325 We have college grads, many with advanced degrees, who are unemployed or working at places like WalMart and McDonald's because the jobs they trained for got eliminated, shipped overseas, or given to foreign guest workers willing to work for a fraction of what Americans can afford to live on(because their countries pay 100% of their citizens' college tuition so they don't have student loans to pay off) and the jobs at WalMart or McDonald's were the only ones available.

Walmart has never FORCED another company to close its doors. If you own a business and only want to be open from 9 -5 then you're not going to be successful!
