Wow, you must learn to become very patient when you're a paraplegic. I couldn't imagine having to go through this everytime I needed to leave the house...
Hi I am Imran,i also have spinal cord injury from april 2010 at level of c6,7..I there any body who help me to understand how can did my most of the works myself.I also have not bladdar and bowl control..I want to join my office but have some problem with cathetor,,my e mail is imran_pg@yahoo.com..
Colin, I want to thank you for the video. My father recently had an accident and can no longer use his knees properly. He still has some mobility in his legs and will probaby be able to drive. His concern is getting his wheelchair in and out of the car. You made it look easy! Where did you get such a portable chair that disassembles so easily? Is there a name for that style of chair?
The specific model that I use is a Tilite ZRA. There are a lot of chairs on the markert that you would be able to get in and out of a car. Some are even more portable than mine, for instance Tilite also makes a folding chair. Most any chair in the "Ultralight" category will work. My advice is to get a chair that meets your needs and keep it AS LIGHT as possible. Then start playing around with how to get it in and out of the car, there are lots of ways.
Hey, I want to say that my front angle is either 90 or 95 degrees. As for the cushinon I am using a Stimu Lite. It is lightweight and easy to clean, but im not too sure about its pressure relief. I have only had it about 8 months, I think i might go back to a Roho air cushion. The best way to find a cushion is to get pressure mapped on the cushion and try it out for a while if possible.
Great video. I'm a C6 complete myself, but can't drive because I'm also blind. I didn't realize it was illegal for other drivers to use steering knobs.
hey this is colin. sorry took me so long to respond. I was a passenger in a car accident when I was 16, im 19 now. The chair is Ti Lite ZRA and is 16 inches wide and 20 inches long. 25" spinergy wheels. Carbon fiber 10" back rest. Anymore questions and ill answer them quicker.
Yeah that is due to the cushion being in the way. If I took the cushion off the backrest WOULD be able to fold completly flat. I really like the ZRA, its nice and adjustable.
Hey i have a invicare crossfire with a folding back but when i put it into my car i leave the back up. I also put my chair in the front seat. there are tons of ways to put your chair in a car you just have to find out the best way yourself. if i get around to it i will make a video to.
i really need an ultralight wheelchair, when i go out,i always have someone waiting for me to bring my heavy wheelchair from the trunk.
here in lebanon, unfortunately, i couldn't find a tilite zra, so i couldn't try it, and it's an expensive investment for me, it will cost me around 4000$ to get it here without even seeing it,it's not easy to decide.
i tried an invacare cuschall champion, it's very compact but so much heavier i guess,i don't know how u can help me,but i felt i wanted to tell u
Hey Joe. I am sorry to hear that you are having a difficult time getting yourself a chair. Both weight and size are big factors in buying a chair. I know what you mean about not being able to try before you buy, I often find myself in a similar situation when researching adaptive equipment. My advice would be to try and get the lightest chair that you can afford.
I'm going to give you the website where I have gotten chairs off of before. Take a look at the "Ultralight" section. I am not sure what they can offer you in terms of inter national business but at least you can see the chairs and find out what weight and size they are. Kevo is right Joe, everyone has a different style of doing their transfers into cars, try and play around with it to see what works the best for you.
why is it illegal to have one of those doohikies? mesaage me if you know

hi colin
this is joe, thanks for the video,it's very helpful and instructive
actually i almost decided to get a zra, but i saw yours, the seat back is not totally folding, is it cz u have some kind of cushion?
i think if it folds all over the seat, the chair will become more compact, am i right?
so does it fold to the end or this is its limit? i'm ordering a Seat Back Height - Folding, Adj-Ht. w/Push Handles
and it's a little bit higher than yours, that's y I'm asking
thanks in advance
