DEEP ELEM BLUES by the Shelton Brothers

The Shelton Bros, Bob and Joe, retired and moved to Sulfur Springs, Tx. When my bros and I were kids, we performed on their radio show on KSST and the Riley Springs Jamboree which they organized. This would have been about 1959.

The first known recording of Deep Ellum Blues was by the Cofer Brothers, under the name The Georgia Black Bottom.

I don't know if it was grandpa's addition or if there is a recording of Deep Elem Blues that say "if you go down to Deep Elem better keep a razor in your Shoe"
