  • music for life

  • good solo

  • You have to see the video "Bela Fleck & the Flecktones Live at the Quick" wit Andy Narell. YOU WILL BE ENTHRALLED!

  • I've watched it. Actually I had their version of "Hoe Down" before I ever even performed with him. But yes, that whole concert is incredible to watch.

  • I don't care too much for pan (steel drums) anymore.

However i have never heard anyone with an out of this world skill level as this musician. The drums too......TUNED!

  • His brother Jeff Narell teaches steel pans at my school

  • Lucky.lol

  • The winter and black history performances of Jeff's steel drum class at Longfellow are also on You Tube - search for Longfellow Steel Drum Band.

  • I've been enjoying Andy since the late 80's. He is one of my top 10 musicians/composers. I'm not a musician, so I can be easily fooled! But his stuff brings the steel pan to a level of any instrument including keyboard and guitar. Kalinda, Out of the Blue, The Hammer, Little Secrets. His range of music is so eclectic. Why Andy is not more popular is a mystery.

  • haha. trust me. your not being fooled. he is an amazing musician. and person. once at a clinic for my fathers steel drum band which i am now a part of, he sat down and talked to me for a half hour instead of going off and doing other things during his break. i was 4 years old. and i realized years later how much that really meant.

  • Thanks for posting. I played with Andy several years ago when he made a few guest appearances at Wichita State University. This bring back memories!!

    Thanks.

  • No problem. I'm looking forward to performing with him again in Virginia Beach in a few weeks.

  • great playing!!! i love it!!!

  • i have too spoken to u directly........in the halls......

  • Oh...::shrugs:: alright, fair enough...apparently my memory's just bad :) "rarely" as opposed to "never" I suppose...

  • Thanks Feltoon~ Great video~ Great musician

  • Wow...you've been in the ensemble how long and you've never actually spoken directly to me...?
