I just completed this game for the first time recently and my final verdict is mixed. On the one hand, I admire how unique this game is. The art design, vibrant graphics, cut-scenes and parkour concept for gameplay are all highly commendable elements but on the other hand, this game could have been much better than it is. The trial-and-error nature of the gameplay mechanics can be very frustrating and the difficulty curve doesn't make it that accessible to more casual gamers. Still, I liked it.

We want a new Mirror's Edge on Frostbite 2!! We = All the gamers who really enjoyed Mirror's Edge 1. Smooth movements like in part one and Battlefield-like gun handling would be perfect. I can only imagine how beautiful reflections, destruction, waving flags, breaking glass, etc.. would look in the cool and futuristic city of ME. Mix it up with a great story, told in 3D perspective this time, and you have one of the most amazing games ever made!!

the runner vision is kind of ironic , because the whole game is based on escaping full surveillance and what you get here is a totally predicted track :D.

I still love this game because of its atmosphere.

Runner vision is more about figuring out what you can do to get to the end rather than how to get to the end. I realize it perhaps was not implemented the best way, and the whole "there are many different paths to get to the end" was a bit exaggerated, but its still was a creative way to guide the player through the level. And I agree with the atmosphere. I loved this game so much simply because of its aesthetics. This game was truly made with love.

Mirror's Edge is one of my favourite games of this generation. The game was "a breath of fresh air". That's the only way I can describe Mirror's Edge.

The fact that this game didn't go well on sales proves that we live in a sad world. Because people nowadays need explosions, lots of weapons and lots of killing to be satisfied. And of course they don't want a challenging game but a game that beats itself. Why? How can people keep playing the endless library of FPS games out there which are all THE SAME THING? Well, that was a bit harsh, but allow me to elaborate. FPS games ARE extremely popular today, but so are Sports games. RPGs are also very popular, including MMORPGs - many people who normally don't game play freakin' WoW! But I guess those involve lots of weapons and lots of killing.

Puzzle games seem to be quite popular as well, with Angry Birds, Plants vs Zombies, and Portal being extremely renowned at the moment.

@SiGhast lol now that look back I think my comment sucked.I was probably angry about something when I wrote it. Yes there are other popular genres but that was not my point. My point is that people don't usually try out innovative games and they play the same thing over and over. That is proven by the sales of Okami and Mirror's Edge. 2 masterpieces that should have been as popular as Call of Duty. Of course there are opinions but don't tell me Mirror's Edge doesn't deserve to be platinum!

@PSspecialist I do agree with you! The more original games tend to slip by the main stream. I guess people are more comfortable spending money on a tried and tested formula, and I guess I can understand that.

It is kind of a shame, because I want creativity to be encouraged. I haven't played through this game but I adored the demo. Breath of fresh air! I haven't played Okami yet, but it's something I've been interested in for a long time. I do like archetypical shooters as well, though.

I think the game is fine, but could be made much better in a simple way. Making it open-world. Free running is only fun if you don't have a linear path you need to follow. It should've been "Run around, doing fuck all with chances of police/SWAT chasing you and pick up missions." Not "Run around, looking for the single piece of ledge or roof we're letting you touch without death and then run straight."

great idea, mediocre execution in my book. it reminds me of the first assassin's creed because i want to love the game but there's too many weird design choices/frustrating "try a route-die-try another route-die again-finally get it" gameplay patterns/technical issues (collision detection...in a parkour-style game...ugh)/etc. for me to like it. I trust that the eventual sequel will be great though, all the pieces for an great, not just innovative, game are there. when it's good, it's really good

I found sliding along the ground into to someone and then hitting them twice worked much better. since getting the pacifist achievement (dont fire a single weapon all game) I have not used guns in this game wich is how I think it was meant to be played, concentrate on advanced parkour maneuvers. just run past half the enemies. great game (in my opinion). I finished it several times and still find it enjoyable and original
