When plugging on hole's side I used a rammer with a protuberance on its tip so a cavity is formed in the internal surface of the plug. This way I made a fireproof layer.
That's pretty damn good, reminds me of the little "small bee" helicopters from the 90s minus the green coloring.

Yes, you can use hard cardboard for this and stick it with hot glue after giving to it the necessary shape
