They eat corals? I'm about to get first ever salt water tank 30gal and I'm planin to make it a reef after o save up enough for lights (may take a while I'm only 13 don't make much money) and I want one of these
@dustin1231 Absolutely right. I guess I meant that if you tried to keep it in a tank with coral you would not be able to have many clean up crew members. A coral tank without a cleanup crew, and a large predator that eats a lot, mix together to create what I imagine would be a headache.
@MrTomster93 i thnk it would go great if there big enough to not be eaten unsure about shrimps though :D trial and error if it kills the cleaners buy some more or dont your choice
@MrTomster93 it would probably be ok just watch with caution sometimes lionfish will kill cleaner shrimp ive seen it just make sure the cleaner shrimp is larger than the lionfish then it would be fine
CLICKITY333 I have a 75 gal Bow Front with a Snowflake, 6 Hermits, a serpintine Starfish, Unicorn Tang, Blue Hippo Tang Gold marron Clown Bubble coral and I'm getting a Dwarf Lion Fish I had Blond Naso traded in for the Dwarfy and everything gets along pretty good had a yellow Tang they can be a bit territorial all tangs really depends on the tang itself trial and error. Good Luck
hey everyone i REALLY need some help i have a 45 gallon tank with a yellow tang a foxface and 2 clownfish all of these are juveniles and i was wondering if i could get one of these my yellow tang is a little territorial but i doubt he would bully a lionfish and anyway by the time i buy this guy i will have built up my reef ( no inverterbrates due to fact they eat them ugh ) so there will be more territory please get back to me ASAP!!!!!!!!
@clickity333 territory huh i had a yellow tang in my 190 litre had too get rid to big hewas a complete wuss my goby scared him and i had a wimple fish gave him whitespot so after that i now will not keep yellow tangs until i fnd a good specimin ofcourse :D

@tlppkp12 You cannot keep these fish with coral, though I'm sure you've figured that out by now.

@DevLcL yes you can. lionfish will not eat the corals, but might try and eat reef fish.

I came face to face with one of these while swimming at a beach in Florida. I am aware of there dangers, so I snapped a picture and left it alone.
