This is long time after the Haiti earthquake, yet this video still brought tears to my eyes and literally took my breath away. Especially how powerful, emotional, and strong your words and the truth behind your words at 0:48 are.
You said this project was going to change the world, I don't think that is the scale of it, so far it is on that scale of people just watch it. You aren't doing anything spectacular :(
@RakeemN sorry its been awhile since i was on youtube. im not a terrible person i just look at things and go hmm 3000/2,000,000,000...not alot. im assuming by the way you talked about hatit that you've already sold everything you own to help the haiti people so i dont think your really going to reply to this..
Here my oppion on Haiti. 1) why name something close to the god of the underworld, guess its just me but i think its a bad idea. 2) I think that the US should help, but we need to help areselves first. The homeless and jobless is growing here. After we fix those 2 problems then we should help.

If you want to change the world, kill the bank. They are the reason for poverty in the world and they are the ones killing the economy and trying to take over the world.
@MutantCreature We didn't cause a natural disaster. Like he said, the people of Haiti didn't die because the ground shook. They died because the simply didn't had the information to protect themselves against it. Haiti has been neglected by the rest of the world in things like providing information, which is very important nowadays.
Haiti was our fault? First off, it's our fault that they had an earthquake? Because we can totally make earthquakes happen(sarcasm). Second off, America tried to help them, but they were shooting at us and kidnapping our people. Don't act like what happened there is our fault cause it's not and there were plenty of people who went there to help, but they were fighting against the ones who were helping them.
@ElementXII I'm pretty sure he didn't mean that we caused an earthquake, he just meant that it's our fault for not trying to prevent the damage it caused. And I don't think he meant us as Americans, I think he meant us as humans.
@bburns1001 How could we have prevented the damage that happened? Earthquakes happen in a matter of seconds and the most we could've done was help them out, and that's what we did. However, after a while, they fought back at us for trying to help them, like imprisoning our people who were trying to help.
I think that to solve the recession we just need to pressure the feds to pass a legislature that says businesses can't hold monopolies, so as to create more middle-man jobs. Sure prices rise, but so do jobs.
this dude is missinformed... there country was already poor. they didnt have an earth quake sinse like 30 years or more ago so no one saw this coming. and even if the little .. pencil thingys (forget there name) did pick it it up, it would only be hour , maybe minutes before it happend. you cant evac like 3 million people in in a couple hours. neadless to say afew minutes. this dude needs to stop being a hippy and just donate the money to rebuild.death happens.no need to go on and blame people.
All these comments are really critical. He's explained that earthquakes happen and we can't prevent them but there could have been less damage if they had better structured buildings then a lot of lives would have been saved. It wasn't that strong an earthquake but haiti's buildings were weak. Just saying...
I fail to see how the Haiti incident is our fault, honestly. Stopping earth quakes, or preventing them, or preventing structural damage is nigh impossible.
@holmborn How about the whole people living in really poor housing and with barely any essentials while we crap cappuccino? No, the earthquake is natural and not a human thing. But the ability to recover?
Shweet noodly appendages, he's not saying that the earthquake was our fault. He was talking about how the buildings could have held up, but didn't. Also, grammar.
i couldnt agree with you more, and i donated all of my money from my 7 garage sales, and i donated what was not sold. Dan your words are inspirational.

we will never be able to reach this kind of world oneness until we realize our love of the world. in its whole. people just dont love like that anymore.... or do they? dan, you have given me hope for the world i dream of. the world i am in love with.
..... Completely Idiotic! Are you telling me that because we didnt provide Haiti the knowledge on how to protect themselves from a fucking earthquake that we are ones to blame? WTF is that? Complete trash. This is just nonsense
U make this video saying "we need to prevent another Haiti" and then Chile gets an earthquake that is even higher on the scale :\. Ironic... Isn't it??
I hope you never will find this out, but when that happens, you'll see that the information that is definitely available to Californians, will not save their wood houses.
But even so...many more stable structures in Haiti, such as the president's palace also collapsed due to the immense destructive power of that earthquake.
Better funding does not necessarily mean better, more stable housing though. If you look at the American way of building houses, you'll see that most of them are made of wood. Many geologists are predicting a MAJOR earthquake at the west coast of the US.
Dan, usually I agree with what you have to say, but not this time. Do you really think more access to information on how to build more stable houses would have kept the buildings in Haiti from collapsing? That information is available to architects etc in Haiti. You do NOT need the internet for that. The fact of the matter is that the common people just do not posses the funding to be able to afford such structures.
@Jojoboy77 for all of you who dont understand his long statement, here's a short version. They are ungreatful and they rob, rape, pillage. they destroy their own 3rd world country anyways. leave them be. No money from me will ever go to Shiti.
@Jojoboy77 Your argument flawed itself when you slightly contradicted your implication. Answer me this, how do you get more money? More knowledge. But down to the lexical argument, donating to information will do as much, if not more help, to rebuilding houses with work we could be doing for free.
I love how all the comments on Dan's videos are interesting. Their not all "OHH! He's hot! Blah blah blah." Things no one cares about. But you Dan, you're different. No to say that you don't have good looks. It just makes me happy to see that people are interested in what you have to say as well.
You are a very positive influence, and you educate people. I am proud Dan.
"...they leave their people powerless, and powerless people are abused."
That's why I don't believe in gun control.
Also, the problem with donating money to Haiti is that the government won't use it to help anyone but themselves. It happens everytime there's a natural disaster in other countries.
Also Also, Haiti definitely has the resources to build better buildings. They just don't have the money or resources (unless the government is willing to turn over a new leaf.)
Hey! I am an international student from Brazil, living in Maryland...Just saw your video from English Expert..seriously I am amazed! You have a brilliant future! Congrats!
i agree. sometimes i think the human race was more advanced in the stone age. although there was no knowledge, there was no wars.(except the hunts) with information and knowledge, look what has happened to our world. global warming, all those things.
they died because they did not have information?? please stop saying utter crap and fooling simpletons. They cannot afford building multi-layered, high standard structures. They cant even afford to live and eat healthy, so dont make it sound so simple. And stop saying you care for them cuz ur not
"Information is power." Doesn't that contradict what you said in the education video about information being so easy to access it has become worthless? And there was nothing - no way to build a building - that could have stopped the destruction. There will never be a way to stop disasters; we might be able to clean them up faster, but not stop them.
I agree with you Dan, but in order to prevent something like the next Haiti, we're going to need more than just information, even though I agree that information should be a huge factor in it. Really though, the country's so poor that even with information, they need the money in order to implement it.
Dan, I agree with you very much...and I do want to make a difference. I wish I could hear those words from most of the people I talk to and meet around here in my age group...
LOL, you really think information is the key thing here?
Idont think so.Just google a little bit and you'll see that haiti was a french colony.France devasted haiti in the first place making them poorer every single day.
@LlewellynFlame absolutly agree with you..but is not only because France.. most of the rich countries do not care about the welfare of small countries like Haiti.. and immerse them in extreme poverty...
Then When these kind of natural disasters happened they show themselves as afflicted and use the situation for advertising and political plans..
Scroll down this page. More than 3/4 of the people who say that Dan is wrong about this have no idea just how much power people have if they band together. Pessimistic views aren't going to help, and maybe we, as human beings, DO in fact need an event of horrific proportions to show us that if we do nothing, we achieve nothing.
holy crap keep the money!!!!!no dont screw hati just people r treating them like babies!sorry i mean other places need donations *cough*(belfast) i mean i get bomb scares all the tome at least twice a month! and nobody cares again i dont hate hati just.........i dont know do wat u want just think about it guys.
you dont have a heart....search deep in and find the love for haiti..would you say, "dont give me anything i dont need help!!!!!" if where every you live there was a earthquake? dude what goes around, comes around remember that.
@ImmahPinchYou it happens all the time to me if u read my comment ud know i also said that i dont care about haiti just ....AHHHHHH just leave me alone let me live in my poor city also dan said they didnt die because of the earthquake it was their stupid govener
Acts of GOD? I am aware an "Act of God" is a legal term, but last time I checked you were an atheist. Next time you should, maybe, use different wording-- for the sake of consistency.
I must say though, you're a rather one of kind doubting Thomas, writing letters to God and stuff. Food for thought, don't you think?
Yeah 'dude', I know. That's precisely what I commented about the term; Still and all I'm not nitpicking. Evidently, what I've stated goes beyond your discernment.
I like your ideas and respect your generousity of 5000 dollars to charities and foundations, but you can't blame the earth's natural effects of earthquakes on us, it's natural, the whole world knows about earthquakes, it's a countries government that decides on buildings that are built etc. information like you said can be stopped by the government, not us. Don't get arrogant.
Dan brown is amazing. What's amazing about him is that cares so much about YOU! That he is giving a fuck load of his life to make YOURS! Better... I feal bad for anyone who dosent see yet alone apreceate it.
Fuck you! Jcambete And tylerisstillathing! This man has an exteremly great point and even if your small egos are offended what he says is true, and instead of being a little fuck playing stupid... You guys could be helping change the world. I am also working on something huge. Not just huge but infanatly enormus. This prject will knock you fuckers off your feet, and change the world forever!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Why? we;ve been throwing money at Afreaka etc. for decades. What do we get? More niggers. Might as well flush money down the toilet. The schools in my state are cutting back programs etc. because they are short of money. I'm going to take care of them first. I've never heard of Hate-e or this misguided person ever having a telethon etc. for that, or for the victims of the midwest flooding, or for the people who are still trying to recover from the worse ice storm in Kentucky history ......
france made haiti poor bill clinton and us policies made it hell! DID WE FORGET THAT US PUT AN EMBARGO ON HAITI AND URGED FRANCE AND CANADA TO DO THE SAME. The US prevented Haiti to get a loan and never got any loan from US, all the money went to private organizations it never went to the people and the US still asked Haiti to pay the loan they never got!!! Why is haiti poor? Hummmm?
Mind -> Blown.

You do NOT need the internet for that. The fact of the matter is that the common people just do not posses the funding to be able to afford such structures.
Jojoboy77 1 year ago 50
@Jojoboy77 for all of you who dont understand his long statement, here's a short version. They are ungreatful and they rob, rape, pillage. they destroy their own 3rd world country anyways. leave them be. No money from me will ever go to Shiti.
xx0utlinexx 1 year ago

They just don't have the money or resources (unless the government is willing to turn over a new leaf.)

i agree. sometimes i think the human race was more advanced in the stone age. although there was no knowledge, there was no wars.(except the hunts) with information and knowledge, look what has happened to our world. global warming, all those things.

they died because they did not have information?? please stop saying utter crap and fooling simpletons. They cannot afford building multi-layered, high standard structures. They cant even afford to live and eat healthy, so dont make it sound so simple. And stop saying you care for them cuz ur not

Haiti was a test site for the H.A.A.RP project, how do you think everyone reacted so fast? Cause they caused it!
Forgatal 1 year ago
"Information is power." Doesn't that contradict what you said in the education video about information being so easy to access it has become worthless? And there was nothing - no way to build a building - that could have stopped the destruction. There will never be a way to stop disasters; we might be able to clean them up faster, but not stop them.
TallShortGirl 1 year ago
I agree with you Dan, but in order to prevent something like the next Haiti, we're going to need more than just information, even though I agree that information should be a huge factor in it. Really though, the country's so poor that even with information, they need the money in order to implement it.

LOL, you really think information is the key thing here?
Idont think so.Just google a little bit and you'll see that haiti was a french colony.France devasted haiti in the first place making them poorer every single day.
LlewellynFlame 1 year ago
@LlewellynFlame absolutly agree with you..but is not only because France.. most of the rich countries do not care about the welfare of small countries like Haiti.. and immerse them in extreme poverty...
Then When these kind of natural disasters happened they show themselves as afflicted and use the situation for advertising and political plans..
sad but real!

Dan, I support your ideas and decisions 100%.

holy crap keep the money!!!!!no dont screw hati just people r treating them like babies!sorry i mean other places need donations *cough*(belfast) i mean i get bomb scares all the tome at least twice a month! and nobody cares again i dont hate hati just.........i dont know do wat u want just think about it guys.

JordanM246 1 year ago
Acts of GOD? I am aware an "Act of God" is a legal term, but last time I checked you were an atheist. Next time you should, maybe, use different wording-- for the sake of consistency.
I must say though, you're a rather one of kind doubting Thomas, writing letters to God and stuff. Food for thought, don't you think?
cpaniaguam 1 year ago
@cpaniaguam
He's an agnostic; he neither denies nor accepts the existence of a God.
And dude, when he says acts of God, he was just speaking figuratively. There's no need for nitpicking over these things.
triplek96 1 year ago
Yeah 'dude', I know. That's precisely what I commented about the term; Still and all I'm not nitpicking. Evidently, what I've stated goes beyond your discernment.
cpaniaguam 1 year ago
I like your ideas and respect your generousity of 5000 dollars to charities and foundations, but you can't blame the earth's natural effects of earthquakes on us, it's natural, the whole world knows about earthquakes, it's a countries government that decides on buildings that are built etc. information like you said can be stopped by the government, not us. Don't get arrogant.

Why? we;ve been throwing money at Afreaka etc. for decades.

Why is haiti poor? Hummmm?
