  • great player!!

  • Just picked up Chuck's 'String Fever' album, which has some great solos by the tenor player here, Caesar Dimauro. Why Wayne isn't mentioned more often is baffling. It's nice to see Mazzaroppi up there- he plays well on Tal Farlow's 'Chromatic Palette' album. There'll be more Chuck Wayne in my future. Like many of the greats, he makes it sound so easy...

  • I had the great fortune to study guitar with Chuck Wayne from 1977 till 1980 at his home on Staten Island-one of the GREATS,as an educator, player and as a person. If he was in the mood, the lessons would go for 2 1/2 hours.he would play Bach for me.I owe him adebt of music I can never re-pay.

  • amazing guitar player. my friends, luthiers phil and dave petillo made him several guitars and they still talk about chuck to this day, how no one could play like him...

  • Very few know how great of a master Chuck is...he was for me!

  • WOW! Are there more bits out there for us to enjoy? That's the way I remember "Late Night Jazz" at The Dock. All the coolest people coming by for a last call and the best jams on the Island. Some of them just stopped in for listening and others, to get up there and play. Way to go, Man, this IS how I learned to swing - these 'Cats' are the tops!

    Cheers, =DeRo=

  • Stella at Staten, thanks!

  • i learned about chuck wayne from listening to ..tony bennet..plus i had a good jazz radio station in boston..i very much like his playing

  • I had a Chuck Wayne record I loved back in the seventies. I think he did a lot of sessions and teaching but this was a great recording of the modern jazz guitar that went unnoticed. Thanks for putting this on because I never got to see him play and he influenced me. John

  • I use to have a Chuck Wayne recording that was from the sixties I think. It was a great record. It showed me that the guitar could do practically anything. Here's a guy that didn't get much overall recognition but man he was a wonderful musician. It's is a treat to finally see him play. Thanks for posting this.

  • @johnhguitar I believe the album you 're referring to is "TAPESTRY" (out of print) available thru EBAY only on record truly one of Chuck's best .
