Really the steering is that bad? I've driven a 156 (which has been and is the benchmark for the steering compartment) and a Giulietta Multiair 170... They doesn't seem so different

I just can't recognize where it got that dull boring interior from, there is no sign of Alfa design inside this thing, no driver facing dashboard, tubes are here just symbolically. Wheel looks like from BMW

@nionioulis Underpinnings of this car will also probably never be used for Fiat since it's pretty advanced car, I mean, what Fiat has multilink rear suspension... maybe new Croma, maybe.
Besides... I really don't care where all this shit comes from - it has to feel like Alfa, no matter how it's achieved.
156 is based on (155 which is based on) a freaking Fiat Tipo! When I get behind the wheel I have no doubts, when I look beneath the bonnet I have no doubts, when I rev the thing to 7k RPM no doubts either. And when I tell people it's "Fiat" they're very surprised.

I do like FIAT and many people whom I know will think I'm mad, but I like FIAT because of their technical achievements and unique styling. The Multi Air engine is one advancement that should be noted and this alone would entice me to buy a FIAT based car, especially with those figures. Recently, many designers have been promoting diesel, but now it has been realised that petrol offers more refinement and with some effort can be just as economical as diesel, thus better all round.
I agree with GamerAndReviewer its amazing how they are killing sizzle of Alfa Romeo. FIAT has no plans to make cars that truly speak on the Alfa Romeo pettigree. Having a hard time staying loyal. I own a 164Q. Great car but its getting old, and there are no new ones the are "man" enough. The Mito, the Giulietta, and the 159 are too small and feminane. The 4C looks the part yet it has a 4Cyl. again not enough. IF they make a 6C then maybe. The 8C - Love it. Too bad its shared with the Mito...

those wheels are tiny within those wheelarches, i bought that crap about alfas personality wait till this is 4 years old and you go to a dealer to ask about lack of underseal on the passengers floor and they say lucky you have an oil leak then! late model 156 buy one of these and you will wish you bought the skoda
Ive test driven this and its brilliant to drive. its really really different, the 170bhp version has a lot of kick specially when you put into dynamic in second gear and low revs, its like planting your foot into the floor going from the line. she's all mouth, not talking about the handeling properly, its solid so it feels like your actually connected to the road and you dont have second thoughts about sharp bends, all im doing now is saving up a deposit on one, it was fantastic!
There are tons of videos that show people TALKING in the Alfa. I have no clue what the car sounds like, because the reviewers are too busy talking. All other Alfa Romeo Gulietta reviews have music only. BORING!
What a shame, was thinking about buying one. Alfas have always been known for their handling and steering. After driving a gtv6 for over ten years, that would be a big let down to me. Shame alfa, what are you guys doing over there?
After testing new Focus, Astra and Giulietta I decided for Alfa Romeo. I had a lot of doubts because the reviews, but after driving the 1.6 jtdm I finally decided.

Alfa Romeo were around 10 years before ferrari existed! I have owned more alfas than I can even remember, my last alfa was a 156 2.0 selespeed, despite what everyone wrote and thinks it was an amazing car which I owned trouble free for 10 years!!! my next car will be an alfa giulietta again :-)

Why is Skoda even brought up in the comments? If I had to name the competition of the Giulietta there would be at least 5 car brands I would think of before I even remembered Skodas including Audi, Ford, VW, Citroen, Renault etc... I'm sorry but Skodas are extremely boring cars, the difference between an Alfa and a Skoda is like the difference between an iPhone and a standard Nokia.

I want to buy the alfa giulia when it comes out in 2013 but all this unreliability and price depreciacion talks are giving me second thoughts.I now own 2007 VW Passat and my next car will be either the next generation Passat CC of the upcoming Giulia.. I would stay well away from Skoda/VW because they are hideously DULL and wont give you any satisfaction like an Alfa. I'm also looking forward to the new Alfa Giulia, a much better prospect than a dull VW Passat.

As someone who owned both a Skoda and an Alfa, I can say that Skodas are great cars, reliable, with decent engines and proper equipment. However, they simply don't have that spirit that you'll find in an Alfa. Sure, italians might be less reliable in surveys, but truthfully surveys can only show you so much and I've experienced the things exactly the opposite - my Skoda kept failing, while I haven't had a single problem with an Alfa so far. Giulietta is thus definitely my next pick.

@MrEllinaras No offence, but I have owned Fiats in the past - 2 Unos - nice to drive but dreadful build and reliability, a Tempra Turbo Diesel - again, a nice car to drive but rotten bodywork and reliability and depreciation like a stone.Granted, Fiat can build good small cars, but they cant build larger family cars that are successful - Croma/Stilo etc all flops.The Qubo and Doblo are just horrendous looking.Skoda produce good in every category, Fiat only in small car categories.

II do agree the 508 is a great looker, but it will depreciate like a stone.The Citroen C6 is a beauty, but quality is still nowhere near Superbs or Mondeos. I think both Mondeo and Superb are excellent cars, and both do various things better than the other, but as an allrounder the Superb would be my choice as it is better built and holds its value much better.Plus, its Driver power No.1, Yeti is 2nd and Octavia 4th, and for 3rd year on trot, Skoda are best manufacturer.

Fiats and Alfas ahave long had an awful reputation for reliability and its not getting better, its getting worse. i love my choice of car brand, you love yours. As for the best though - Skoda undoubtedly beats Fiat and Alfa in that department.What they may in, your eyes, lack in style, they more than make up for in quality, reliability and driver enjoyment.
@skorob2010 There are many Alfa and Fiat owners who are extremely happy like myself. We know what makes a good car. In fact, I know people who own VWs that constantly break down with major engine problems. Skodas are based on the same unreliable VW platforms so reliability would be a concern. So I would never buy a VW product because they look dull, drive dull, and the quality is crap. Alfa and Fiat will always be the first choice for style, quality and ownership experience. Skodas have nothing.
@u1430 Alfa and Fiat have yet again slipped in the Driver Power reliability survey 2011 - and all the results come from the owners! To end this, I will like my Skodas, you like your Alfa/Fiats. I know which is best in my opinion, and you know whats best in yours. i think we will just have to agree to disagree. But at the end of the day, in the UK, Fiat and Alfa are reknowned for their unreliability issues.Maybe in Greece they have lower expectations.

Alfa MiTo most reliable supermini in WhatCar, Fiat Panda 2nd most reliable car in Europe (Warranty Direct)...Anyway I don't buy a car because of these surveys. I can decide for myself and I've never had any major problems with my Fiats/Alfas so I wouldn't risk buying a Skoda - especially when I dont like their parent company VW. So we shall both agree to disagree. You can continue to buy Skodas but don't spam Alfa videos because you'll get it back.
@u1430 A few years ago,my boss gave me his car , an Alfa Romeo 156 1.8 with 150hp.On the highway i raced a 1.9TDI 105hp Skoda Octavia.I was doing 200kmh.He passed me and i never saw him again.And his car was so reliable he had to repair it every fuckin month and he got angry and sold it.I also had a fiat punto,albea.THEY FUCKIN SUCK!!After that i bhought a Dacia Logan(made by Renault)and it was way better than the albea!german cars are defenetly better than italian cars !

I agree with GamerAndReviewer its amazing how they are killing sizzle of Alfa Romeo. FIAT has no plans to make cars that truly speak on the Alfa Romeo pettigree. Having a hard time staying loyal. I own a 164Q. Great car but its getting old, and there are no new ones the are "man" enough. The Mito, the Giulietta, and the 159 are too small and feminane. The 4C looks the part yet it has a 4Cyl. again not enough. IF they make a 6C then maybe. The 8C - Love it. Too bad its shared with the Mito...

Ive test driven this and its brilliant to drive. its really really different, the 170bhp version has a lot of kick specially when you put into dynamic in second gear and low revs, its like planting your foot into the floor going from the line. she's all mouth, not talking about the handeling properly, its solid so it feels like your actually connected to the road and you dont have second thoughts about sharp bends, all im doing now is saving up a deposit on one, it was fantastic!

Why is Skoda even brought up in the comments? If I had to name the competition of the Giulietta there would be at least 5 car brands I would think of before I even remembered Skodas including Audi, Ford, VW, Citroen, Renault etc... I want to buy the alfa giulia when it comes out in 2013 but all this unreliability and price depreciacion talks are giving me second thoughts.I now own 2007 VW Passat and my next car will be either the next generation Passat CC of the upcoming Giulia.. As someone who owned both a Skoda and an Alfa, I can say that Skodas are great cars, reliable, with decent engines and proper equipment. However, they simply don't have that spirit that you'll find in an Alfa. Sure, italians might be less reliable in surveys, but truthfully surveys can only show you so much and I've experienced the things exactly the opposite - my Skoda kept failing, while I haven't had a single problem with an Alfa so far. Giulietta is thus definitely my next pick.

@MrEllinaras No offence, but I have owned Fiats in the past - 2 Unos - nice to drive but dreadful build and reliability, a Tempra Turbo Diesel - again, a nice car to drive but rotten bodywork and reliability and depreciation like a stone.Granted, Fiat can build good small cars, but they cant build larger family cars that are successful - Croma/Stilo etc all flops.The Qubo and Doblo are just horrendous looking.Skoda produce good in every category, Fiat only in small car categories.

I think both Mondeo and Superb are excellent cars, and both do various things better than the other, but as an allrounder the Superb would be my choice as it is better built and holds its value much better.Plus, its Driver power No.1, Yeti is 2nd and Octavia 4th, and for 3rd year on trot, Skoda are best manufacturer.

@u1430 Are you for real??? The Yeti has style, class leading quality and a 6 month+ waiting list. The Doblo is cheap and nasty junk! Its face is hideous! The qubo is just as bad. They almost hit the ugly tree as bad as the Mini Countryman and Clubmunter or BMW 1-Series.

@skorob2010 In your opinion. I'm 100% real. Although I wouldnt buy any I'd rather have a Doblo -or Qubo over a Yeti. I just think the Skoda Yeti is very bland and boxy - where is the character? - the Doblo and Qubo look funky and modern - so I would definately buy one of them if I was in that market. The Yeti i built for boring dull old farts (no offence) Seriously I think Skodas lack character in gereral and personally despise the VW brand!

@u1430 The Doblo is cheap, nasty and hideous, has no quality feel or anything, its just awful. The Yeti has top class build quality, is far from characterless, and 'boring old farts' do not drive them - they drive Micras or Fiat 500's or Honda Civics, or, VW Fox's.Skodas, especially vRS models are great fun to drive with masses of character - an opinion shared by many.I despise Fords and BMW's, now they are DULL.

@skorob2010 I know many people who like myself see Skoda's as extremely dull looking cars which lack any sense of character. Just like VW I have NEVER been blown away by any Skoda's design. I think Italian cars are by far the best looking - and as for quality they are excellent - Fiat Panda is the second most reliable car in Europe and I didnt see any Skodas on that list! Anyway, I dont really care because I'll continue to stick with the best (Fiat's and Alfa's) no matter what anyone else says..

@u1430 Well that is your opinion - the owners in the UK tell a different story - there is more to a car than looks. Fiats and Alfas ahave long had an awful reputation for reliability and its not getting better, its getting worse. i love my choice of car brand, you love yours. As for the best though - Skoda undoubtedly beats Fiat and Alfa in that department.What they may in, your eyes, lack in style, they more than make up for in quality, reliability and driver enjoyment.

@skorob2010 There are many Alfa and Fiat owners who are extremely happy like myself. We know what makes a good car. In fact, I know people who own VWs that constantly break down with major engine problems. Skodas are based on the same unreliable VW platforms so reliability would be a concern. So I would never buy a VW product because they look dull, drive dull, and the quality is crap. Alfa and Fiat will always be the first choice for style, quality and ownership experience. Skodas have nothing.

@u1430 Alfa and Fiat have yet again slipped in the Driver Power reliability survey 2011 - and all the results come from the owners! To end this, I will like my Skodas, you like your Alfa/Fiats. I know which is best in my opinion, and you know whats best in yours. i think we will just have to agree to disagree. But at the end of the day, in the UK, Fiat and Alfa are reknowned for their unreliability issues.Maybe in Greece they have lower expectations.

@skorob2010 Funny how the surveys contradict. Alfa MiTo most reliable supermini in WhatCar, Fiat Panda 2nd most reliable car in Europe (Warranty Direct)...Anyway I don't buy a car because of these surveys. I can decide for myself and I've never had any major problems with my Fiats/Alfas so I wouldn't risk buying a Skoda - especially when I dont like their parent company VW. So we shall both agree to disagree. You can continue to buy Skodas but don't spam Alfa videos because you'll get it back.

@u1430 A few years ago,my boss gave me his car , an Alfa Romeo 156 1.8 with 150hp.On the highway i raced a 1.9TDI 105hp Skoda Octavia.I was doing 200kmh.He passed me and i never saw him again.And his car was so reliable he had to repair it every fuckin month and he got angry and sold it.I also had a fiat punto,albea.THEY FUCKIN SUCK!!After that i bhought a Dacia Logan(made by Renault)and it was way better than the albea!german cars are defenetly better than italian cars !

@215alessio I have a Mitsubishi Outlander Ralliart with a2.0 TDI engine from audi with 190hp and 400Nm+ that fucks all of your italian cars.0-200 in less than 30seconds,this means is faster than shitty alfa's.It has sport suspensions,sport yokohama tires and differentials more advanced than any alfa or plastic fiat will ever have.which means is faster in the corners ,and still it can fit 7 people and a lot of bags and it still fuckin does 45mpg / 6,7l/100km.now you should really shut the fuck up

@Twixx32 well congratulations about your good car, but I tought Mitsubishi had Renault common rail diesel engines but 200 Hp, Maybe chiptuned?
If you chiptune a 5 cyl 2.4 JTD it will give you alot more than 210 HP
about the plastic fiats: I am shure a punto is safer than a polo or a fox (same class) and is cheaper and prettier and has also a better engine.

@u1430 But i'm not a hater!I think rationally and yes,italian cars are very beautiful.They are starting to make better cars with good engines.Most of them are driver's cars.They are built with so much passion.It's just that sometimes you also need something else,that you find in every single german car.Despite my horrible experience with italian cars, i like fiat,especially the new Bravo and i think that Alfa are beautiful cars.Unfortunetly,i like german cars and even japanase cars a lot more!
