Majestic. I heard him sing this back in '73 in Albany, N.Y. with a great orchestra and a huge screen in the background. That eagle moved so swiftly and smooth soaring up and then diving down in some Canyon. And John Denver sounded just like this video song.
Come dance with the west wind and touch on the mountain tops
Sail oer the canyons and up to the stars
And reach for the heavens and hope for the future
And all that we can be and not what we are"
John Denver was one of the most positive, loving, peaceful souls that ever walked this earth. God, I don't understand why you take the ones that have such a burning desire to make a difference in our world. Those are the ones we so desperately need here. Why miracles for some and not for others?
@8mycrab John Denver also liked to drink and drive on several occaions. He could have easily killed somone of he hadnt been pulled over more than once. He wasnt that good of a man.
@singingscotty2001 Yes, you are right. He was human. He made some very poor choices. It seems so often the very gifted among us also struggle with personal demons. But the mistakes we make in life do not erase all the good we have done.
@8mycrab I respectfully disagree that God "takes" anyone. Death is a part of life on this fallen world, unfortunately. Some of die before we should. Some of us die because we make very poor decisions like flying a plane while high on drugs. I respectfully suggest that Mr. Denver took himself away and that God had nothing to do with it.
@DancesWithJoy It is thought the probable cause of the accident was when Denver attempted to switch his fuel gauge, his foot pushed the rudder down and caused the plane to nosedive. Since he was only at an altitude of 500 feet, he didn't have enough time to pull up. Blood tests showed no alcohol or drugs in his system. I was just pondering that age old question we ALL have wondered, why do some people get (by some miracle I was able to pull the plane out of the dive!) and others no miracle?
@8mycrab Ahhh... It seems that I was misinformed and I did what I always criticise. I swallowed hook, line and sinker what I heard without engaging in critical thinking and research. Thank you for correcting me without being mean. That is a refreshing turn of events here on youtube. I will make sure that I no longer falsely accuse Mr. Denver of being high on pot. Peace.
@DancesWithJoy It's ok. We've all judged and John did struggle with drugs.
Hey would you do me a favor? I'm sitting in icu right now with my beloved 86 yr old mother. Would you say a prayer for her? She's in alot of pain and they can;t give her too much meds because it makes her blood pressure plummet. The doctor says it's very serious. They can't resolve the pancreatis and don't have her stabilized enough for surgery. I'm in the waiting room at the moment.
@8mycrab Hi. I am sorry that I got your message a week later. I have not been online. I hope that your mom is feeling better and I will pray for her. Thanks for asking. I am sorry to hear that she is suffering so much. :-(
@DancesWithJoy Thank you for your prayers. She passed away last Sunday night peacefully in her sleep. I was holding her hand. I feel very honored. I know she is in heaven with her Lord.
@Joebob6238 That is very sweet of you. My mom did pass away soon after I wrote that but she lived a long, good life. I was even lucky enough to be holding her hand when she left this world and she was the one that brought me into it, how cool is that? As her child, naturally one is never "ready" to let go no matter how old your mother is. But it was last April and I know she is happy in heaven with her mother. I will see her again someday :-)
@8mycrab If God always rescued those who are true to Him, Faith would become unnecessary. Being a Christian would be a great "insurance" policy" and there would be lines of selfish people ready to sign up. We must be faithful to God whether He intervenes on our behalf or not. Our eternal place with Him is worth any suffering we may have to endure on earth.
@Lisacaroline100 we all need a bit of faith, and you explained faith perfectly. He never promised us that nothing bad would ever happen, only that He'd be there right beside us when it did. some say God has turned His back on us, and frankly that's what we deserve, but is is we who turn our backs on Him. I mean He didn't come down here to suffer and die here for nothing!
I like the United States government soooooo much I think everyone should get dual citizenship then living here would be an active choice, among those who choose to live here Also Choice of Citizenship rather than presumption of authority may keep governments more honest
I think I am up for a Canadian Citizenship right now
As a kid, I just liked the sound of the melody of his songs, as I matured, his lyrics have hit a common chord with me as well as many other fans. I have always thought of John Denver songs symbolizing an American spirit that appreciated the finer and simpler things in life that happen naturally around us.
..and yeah, sad that he's gone. But in a way, he's not really. Everytime you hear his songs, that commonality hits home again, and he's alive within each of us that still appreciate his music.
Beautiful, beautiful, video of FREEDOM, I can almost feel what the hawk feels, that true freedom, away from man's glaring gun, or tag's, or intrusion!
@CindyLeeBlankenship Not only is the song beautiful; it's when you've seen it for real! Just to one of those magnificent birds, either in the Rockies or the Sierras, gliding along, riding the thermals-that's a real high!
My apologies frogbrush. Catbrush you had replied you like animals but not to eat them and then nothing was replied back to Nbgwho so I thought another troll. There are many on YouTube.

His voice could soar!
I live in the rural countryside and see hawks and an occasional bald eagle.
I feed the songbirds in winter.
2 years ago, a Cooper's Hawk that feeds mainly on birds, would fly fast thru the brush and caught a lotta birds, especially blue jays.
He was awesome!
I had to move the feeders out into the wide open in the back so the birds could see any hawk or other predator coming.
Still, I feel sorry for the hawk. He was only being a hawk, and I miss him.

@zipper179 All the raptors are now protected by law, including songbirds and non-duck/goose water birds.
People used to shoot them at will, until most were gone.
