Paul's the greatest figure in the history of music. Seriously, if you base it on quantity and quality of output, not to mention sales. It's about time he stop dying his hair, though.
he obviously played this as a tribute. He did it on his 2002 Back in the US tour and specifically says in the concert dvd that it was meant to honor his memory. He plays My Love for Linda and Here Today for John in concert too and says that those are tributes to them too.
I think Paul was actually paying a tribute and playing the song because it was a well known song made by George, I really dont think hes trying to be better than the other Beatles....he truly did know George from the start and wanted to show his love for his life long friend
Everyone's entitled to their own opinion and in my opinion, a bit of courtesy in a discussion. Anyway, I listened to this again, and while I admit to difficulty in making out exactly what Paul said in his intro I still l think it's not much of a tribute. Paul could have said how much George would be missed and had the band sit this one out. Paul with Georges uke could have done it with the dignity that George and the song deserved
...this just proves that George should have sung the song he wrote, and Paul (you bonehead with a yukalaylwy) pretenting otherwise but jealousy -you piece of crap Paul. thanks but no thanks, I die by originals, and Paul should know better than to just "degrade" your own.
@bladerunner983 this was a tribute and if you didn't catch at the begining but he said that george was a big fan of the ukilali. paul is not a piece of crap and you are a duech bag grow up
@bladerunner983 your a dipshit. he did this in memory of george and it was a very good cover. don't speak if you don't know what the fuck you're talking about.
Man, serious talk and true story: I was in a good mood. Paul started talking about George. I got serious. Then, the slide-show started. ON THE THIRD PHOTO, I CRIED LIKE A CHILD. No, I'm not gay. I'm just the kind of person the world needs. True. GEORGE, THANKS FOR THE TEARS. SHOWS HOW IMPORTANT YOU ARE. RELAX WHEREVER YOU ARE, HERO.

I admit Paul was the musical Journeyman (genius) song writer in the group, but I sure wish he wouldn't cover George or John's songs. He could have said a few nice words, even played one of his own songs on that uke that George gave his. It just always seems like he wants to prove he was the better Beatle.
I hope you don't mind if I point out one thing, in the title you just spelled citi field wrong that's all. It's spelled with an "I" at the citi, that's all. :)

Sure u can write all u think. As me and other ppl.
I think Macca sings it in the memory of George. And he doesnt want to proove he was the best of Beatles. I think he was but it doesnt matter now.
As for songs- dont think us silly-we know it was written by George.
I met many ppl who think "All my loving", "Let it be" and "Hey Jude" were written by Lennon. So what?

I don't think that is the case, specially this late in his life, he does it as a tribute, we all know that was george's song

Maybe you're right, it's probably just my perception.

what a load of crap.
he loved George. He is paying tribute to his late great friend.
Is there somethingh in the water in the US.

I love how he put the slideshow of photos in! He did that on BITW tour too when he played Something.
I particularly like 4:34 and 4:54 here.
This is very emotive.
