  • Oh nice man :D

Can you tell me how to make the textures, or which program you use for them?

This will be nice, its one of my biggest problem in Game Developement :)

    Greetings

  • how did you get the textures showing in UDK? ive got mine applied in maya but cant get them showing in UDK. Thanks

  • your gonna be big soon my friend, keep up the good work :D

    naw make a tutorial :P

  • when you import a custom model, is collision detection automatically applied? Or do you have to apply collision bounds to it?

  • Omg I love that song 'In a beautiful place out in the country'! What a coincidence to find it here?

  • Incredibly good low-poly meshes. Great texture work, mate.

  • now make minecraft like this

  • DID THOSE PIGEONS JUST LAUGH

  • How did you export exactly? I know most use ActorX, but when you exported into UDK did you do so as one giant mesh, or did you break everything up? Last time I attempted something like this I wound up painfully taking each asset into UDK piece by piece then reapplying textures. Any help is appreciated :D

  • awesome map, cool houses but you should change the character, lol robot in AC map

  • did u get the house idea off assasins creed :)

  • Where did you learn to use 3ds maya i really need tutorials on how to make 3d models

  • great texturing work mate, thanks for the upload

  • wow really really nice

  • Nice :P very wow i been using blender now i pretty much got blender down ima try to do UDK

  • how did you do sky?

  • what the music name ?

  • @rapper4orty2 i found it lol gotta love shazam

  • could i ask?? how do you insert the sky?? sounds abit dumb but please, i need it!!

  • Do you think you could do a video showing your work process when creating something like that?

  • yeah BoC!!!!

  • Assasins creed 2 :))

  • from maya i just use the *.fbx export. the translation is automatically transfered in UDK :) you just have to make collision boxes inside your model with the prefix MCDCX_*****. all i used for modelling in UDK is the terrain function and BSP texturing in flat surfaces etc

  • u should make assassins creed in first person

  • @seargentermy Lol an FPS Assassin's Creed... Bad idea

  • if you modelled and textured these yourself, awesome job :)

  • WOw that was nice. I´m a newbie in UDK, it´s a little hard at first.

  • Correct me if i am wrong, but the textures seems to be unique, seems made out of separate textures sheets, is there perhaps reason why you didn't reuse textures?

  • think you could make a tutorial on importing stuff from maya?

  • lol dude that is tombraider building lmao!

  • wow man this is one hell of a beautiful house its so fricking amazing I can watch this video for Hours . You did a great job man !

  • @leechtoseed Thx !

  • @wizzfx89 Im new to the UDK development, i've been using it for about a day now and i have a pretty solid area and mixed terrain. But im slightly confused by how people get buildings like yours. Like what do you use to create them?

  • @SADdevildog He probably just uses a modeling software, Maya:Best(opinion) but pretty expensive, 3ds autodesk:expensive but best suited for gaming probably, and Blenser:free but a lot harder to use(opinion) and lower quality modeling(at least for me lol)

  • @SADdevildog Maya or 3DS Max to model and create collision mesh's, Photoshop for texturing, then import them in :) it's not as easy as it sounds, it takes a very long time to get the hang of these powerful programs.

  • @SADdevildog ik a little late u might have what u wanted but u an use, cinema 4d, maya, 3d max even z brush..

  • @SADdevildog Well first you need a 3d modelling program like 3ds max MAYA or Blender, 3ds and MAYA arent free but blender is, you will then need to 3d modell the structure. there are tutorials here and there just look around. after you have done all that then import to udk and your building will be there, this is pretty over simplified but basicly thats it. there are other parts like unwrapping UV's and using Photoshop to make the texture. but just watch tutorials and you will learn.

  • @SADdevildog UDK isn't a modeling package. A very large portion, the vast majority really, of the environments are built in Maya or 3ds Max.

  • @SADdevildog You use a 3d modeling software like 3ds max or my favorite Maya they are both autodesk softwares but they aren't cheep

  • @leechtoseed Shame the video is only 3:43 mins long :D

  • Please help me,when I import some building models made by me in SU 8 pro,to UDK,those models look like shit!

  • Nice mod texture and lighting :D

(tired to see the same weapon each test)

  • I've imported a mesh from Maya into UDK but the main carachter falls trough the mesh.I saw few ideeas about building a brush with the shape of a building and convert that to a blocking volume but...how to do that...I mean that I need to make a surface(a more complicated castle with stairs, towers etc.) walkabile.I have tryed almost everything in UDK including collision settings but it still isn't working or the results are not good.Another question:How to build blocking volumes ?

  • nice sky :D i konw its random but it is!

  • is there any chance you could upload the models to megaupload please?

  • NO col?

  • this job is amazing, i m tryng to create, but...but...i cant make this, ac is not more my inspiration, is you

  • If anyone is wondering on what song this is: "In a beautiful place out in the country" by Boards of Canada

  • Looks great, although I just make buildings from highly complex BSPs and turn them into static meshes with simple collision boxes.

I use MAYA for complex things which need really high detail, such as props which I'd then stick onto buildings.

If you wonder why I do that, it's for planning in buildings more easily.

  • i need your knowledge of architectural modeling!!! :O

  • this looks like its imported from assassins creed

  • @narutodamp He already stated that they werent

  • this mehes are from assasins creed !!

  • @kujelxxl14 nop, they are made by me and are only inspired by ac

  • @wizzfx89

roflcopter. What's this?? Historically inspired buildings?? You idea thief!

  • by the way, beautiful sky

  • BOC hell yeah

  • @COWCLAN1000 probably a week

  • omg amazing textures / model ! :)

  • ok do this make a game about happines and animate children playing around and old pepole feeding birds. and in the backround u see a atom bomb crushing everything.... MAKE THAT :D

  • Did you actully use maya Itself to make this building. if you didn't could you tell me what you used? im not quite sure what engine you used?

  • @fi5h1fishy Yes I used maya / photoshop to create building from scratch. cheers.

  • @fi5h1fishy what do you mean your not sure what engine he used its in the title UDK

  • Did you actully use maya Itself to make this building. if you didn't could you tell me what you used?

  • did u actualy make extra geometry for thos spanish tiles ( the roof tiles )

kinda shouldnt have done that if u did ^^ , not even gtaIV would do that cause after a few mistakes like that u say hey where the fuck did my FPS go?

    anyways nice work

  • @KanadaVCK Not for every single one tile but for each line of tiles.

  • @wizzfx89 I wish the UE3 supported DX11 so that you could have used Tessellation on those tiles instead.

  • @wizzfx89 that is ok for a maya test, but for a game you should check doing that with bump and... parallex? please someone correct me because I want to look into it. Great effort! However... consider doing that level of work for a whole big level lol :P

  • Guys ! I've been playing AC2, and I used it as an inspiration. Game was so cool that I wanted to make something in that style. :)

  • This house...looks so Assassin Creed 2 XD

  • awsome texatures btw my problem is solved, i just pushed the wrong key XD

  • I imported a mesh from maya to Unreal, but when i putted it the first time on the map everything was normal.

but now it doesn't show the mesh in the editor anymore!

    can you help me?

  • I created a building in maya, but not sure how to import the *.mb file into unreal dev kit, how did you do it?

    PS looks great

  • @derap34 download the actor x exporter from udn. get it for the software with the correct version. Then type: "axmesh" into your command line or script editor. Than i you want just save it as a button onto your shelf.

  • Please tutuorial its... beautyfull

  • hey about how many pollys do you have in there from maya thanks and what kinda of video card do you use

  • did u use bumpmapping?

  • @lollendo96 normal maps

  • @tuva500 dude that is exactly what i was thinking

  • @tuva500 Yes, it's only inspired by ac 2.

  • no !

  • @wizzfx89 You cheater! :O

  • Why does everyone keep saying "It reminds me of Assassins Creed II" when it's superobvious that it is, just like ACII, based on Venice? Yes, is that shocking? It's a real city!

  • looks like its right out of assassins creed

    amassing work

  • Really nice work. How long did it take you?Keep making static mesh. We need more good detail builder like you in amateur community.

  • howd u get maya hmmmmmmm?????

    /:(

  • I also tought of Assasins creed :P Make more buildings and you recreated the game

  • lol awsome, good work that reminds me Assassins Creed II, did you import it into a full object whit their own colisions or into a full one whit colision volumnes?

  • Just saying, the biggest ut3 map I've seen is actually small as hell and they went pretty far outside the grid too.

  • @ChimeraProd still UDK can handle unlimited number of polygons where lag is the issue in unity

  • @megaknightz

Yes, unreal script is capable of amazing things. But if you ever tried to build a somewhat big map, you would know, the grid is very limited for anything bigger than a deathmatch game. Unless you have source acess....

So it really cant do anything, not a racing game, not a BF2 game, not an open world RPG / MMO or anything like crysis, its way too isolated

Other than that its cool if your keeping things small but I wont be using it

  • Dude, if you use level streaming, you can create decently sized overworld maps, or if you do something similar to twilight princess (where the maps are separated into separate sections) it would work just fine

  • @megaknightz

Negative. You are still limited by the small size of the grid (or persistent level). Streaming will still get you the same small area to work with, just try to make a large outdoor map and you'll see.

I'm not bashing the engine at all though, but now I can't use it for this reason.

  • You can create massive outdoor levels, plus you can also just make it so that if you touch a trigger, you change what map your in

  • I could try to make it work by bordering things out and using loading zones but if you have any type of flying or higher level gameplay you will notice how isolated you are.

I'm still trying to make it work though, maybe somehow give the illusion of a bigger level, but it may increase loading screens by a lot.

  • it shouldn't be that hard, plus your going more for looks rather than gameplay it seems, which is usually what brings down games that have the potential to be great

  • Looks are irrelevant, space is a main factor of why people are using unity over this.

If you want to make a city even 1/10th the size of GTA it seems like a no go.

  • 9/10ths of the space of gta is purely there for the sake of being there. there is only a few buildings that actually matter. look at ocarina of time, for example. Only about a tenth of the size of liberty city in gta 4, but a much better and much more immersive video game. you don't need a giant city to make a good video game. The maps are big enough.

  • Once you start implementing flight and faster vehicles, even cars, its not big enough at all. This is why GoW did not have flying vehicles and why UT3 has invisible height barriers that are pretty low.

Just try to duplicate a crysis map in udk, you will run out of space before you even finish a single town on an island.

  • first person assasins creed ?

  • sure, my :)

  • wow beautiful house, where did you get it, your work?

  • Looks nice!
