@Tolstoy111 Anytime a band or soloist covers a song successfully, it is that band's or soloist's music. It was the Hall & Oates interpretation of Family Man in the Top 10 U.S. Pop Chart & in the R&B chart, not Oldfield's version. But, Sir or Ma'am, if your argument is Oldfield ought to get credit for composing lyrics &/or the other musical elements which Hall & Oates generally copied & interpreted in their own way, that is a reasonable argument. Oldfield's editions on YouTube sound pretty good.
songs. There is a lot of music that was either forgotten or not ever learned
of but was very enjoyable or would be very enjoyable if it was rediscovered or discovered for the first time by people that enjoy this type of music. People like you?
I have researched these music categories for the past 9 years
and I have rediscovered tunes I had forgotten about or I discovered
new tunes that totally deserved the time it took to discover them.
In Itunes Store or Itunes Ping if you use the search terms "electrofunk" (as a single word) or "80s funk" the search result shall produce several lists that have "electrofunk" or "80s funk" in the playlist name in the "Playlist" category at the low left corner of the search result.
These lists have songs that you may have heard before and enjoyed but forgotten
or songs that you may enjoy now but you have not heard before. These lists include album cuts that were not released as singles and songs from lesser known artists such as Laid Back, Mtume, Boys Don't Cry, and Dynasty.

Super song - esp for those of us who have been there (& may or not have resisted!) Now I work in a university where the temptation (well at least visually) is so much greater!!
My FAVORITE Hall & Oates by a mile! I remember playing this song on a cassette in my Red Mustang GT with the t-tops off, big hair and all! Fun times, you don't know what you have until it's gone.
@Headcrackin456 You`ve got great musical taste! It`s funny you know, I went into a KFC the other day and this 21 year old chap wasn`t listening to the latest pop channel on the TV there, he was listening to stuff like Alice Cooper and some 70s n 80s Aussie Music on his ipod. It made an old fart like me of 41 years feel better! -Daz in Oz.
Oh wait, this isn't rap. It actually spreads the message of not giving in, and it's not gospel music. We're not going to find anything like this today.

This song is so amazing!! Always loved this one! Hall and Oates were a true Icon of the 80s!! Takes me back to better days! This song takes me back to days of true happiness and innocence. I miss those days. My heart just aches for those days. What a time that was! Never to be forgotten! There was a magic in the air back then that you just cant feel today and that is a real shame. This song is magic in itself!! Missing those days but hold the memories in my heart forever!! ☺♥
I love this song and DH&JO are brilliant. But I can see why Daryl H. said he cringes about these cheesy 80s videos. Come on, what was this video producer thinking? How about something with a bit of art, creativity and acting ability, e.g. modern day Snow Patrol videos? Well what can we do, it was the 80s.
Now this is how a family should be perfect and happy. I will tell you guys this I would rather have a wife like this that cares and is home preparing dinner for her beloved family than a wife that comes home after everyone is asleep and has been who knows were!!!
hilariously cheesy video but still a great song -- heard them do it last night (12.5.10) in NYC and they tore up the house -- amazing show, amazing band
to: mightyjoe911: I believe 12 years old is what I was when I first heard this song as well. I too love it............I hated 80s music even during the 80s! lol but Hall & Oates will always rank high on my list!
I know exactly where I was at when I heard this song..I was cruisin' around Balboa Park with my older bro. and his friends when this song was played..Thats how much it brought back my memories...Those were the days...Missed it big time..No bills no worry..Just eat sleep shit and play..

Hall & Oates did an excellent job at incorporating the evolving trends in R&B/funk
into their music. This tune is one of the best examples of that fact.
It got up to #81 on the U.S. R&B chart in 1983 while "One On One"
got up to # 8 on that chart and "Say It Isn't So" got up to #45.

In 1981"I Can't Go For That" reached #1 on the U.S. R&B Chart. In 1982, "Your Imagination" got up #45 and
and Maneater got up #78 on the U.S. R&B Chart. In 1984, "Method of Modern Love" reached #21 on the U.S. R&B chart
& "Out of Touch" reached #24 on that chart.

hilariously cheesy video but still a great song -- heard them do it last night (12.5.10) in NYC and they tore up the house -- amazing show, amazing band

It's nice to know that Daryl Hall was someone who left the hookers alone in his career; I really appreciate that Mr. Hall.

to: mightyjoe911: I believe 12 years old is what I was when I first heard this song as well. I too love it............I hated 80s music even during the 80s! lol but Hall & Oates will always rank high on my list!
