I believe John "Titor" was really a hoax. If it is true then he probably just created another dimension... Let me explain. There is a theory that if you were to travel back in time and try and change the future it wouldn't happen when you cam back but it would happen in the time you came from thus creating an alternative universe. I believe this because most his predictions were false...

John's last name Titor is not his real last name, it's a combination of time and traveler. He started posting because in another worldline of 1975 that reacts with our worldline john did something he regretted by sort of solving y2k, John wanted the war for us cause it'd be good for us, but he knew he single handedly changed our worldline and he tried to fix it. Thats my take on it.

Yeah, why would a person give his name out if he was from the future? It would be a disaster for his own life would be put in danger. Time travel should never be attempted. Changing the path of our time is not natural and would have extreme consequences towards all life in this universe. So why even chance it?

One possible explanation is that the act of time travel does not permit one from reality A at time t2_a to travel to reality A at time t1_a, but instead necessarily send one to reality B at time t1_b (the last value ill-defined with respect to A?). Again this is just one explanation (and I think its backed by an argument of L. Susskind)

The guy revealed his real name and said that all that was an ellaborated hoax. He also apologized for the mess he caused.
