If Chinese firms had to obey US environmental and OSHA requirements, then we could be making this stuff. Labor isn't that big a part of production because most of it is automated. Energy and regulations are the big costs, and China doesn't care about it's water, people, air and environment. Fuck em.

I guess that's the cost for developing! There are always trade-offs! Better living standards is at the cost of environmental damage. I am Chinese n I most say that though the Chinese gov't has done very well in modernization of the country but it most also focus on protect its environment. They r talking harder steps to limit green house gases emissions. By introducing electrical Taxis, Wind mill power, efficiency in manufacturing n so forth. I know the gov't will succeed.

When industrial jobs were in the US and the working class had jobs I remember acid rain killing the forests in the North Eastern US and Lake Erie would catch fire. China now has these jobs with all of it's accompanying problems.
Now the US is polluting/poisoning the bodies of it's citizens with huge amounts of horrible pharmaceutical drugs and foods filled with chemicals. The farm land is poisoned with pesticides and chemical fertilizers that drain into the ground water and rivers.
